Al-Qur'an Surah Lukman verses 12-19, there are at least three educational values of aqidah education, syari'ah education, and educational character. Aqidah education includes two things: (1) the prohibition of associating Allah. Lukman strongly prioritizes the education of tawheed to his children; (2) Believing in the last day. Lukman teaches his children to trust the reward for the deeds done in the world. Shari’ah education includes two things, namely establishing prayers and amar ma'r?f nahy munkar. Character education includes the command to thank God for all His gifts, to do good to both parents, not to behave arrogantly and to always speak softly. The article reveals the pedagogical significance of Turkish lullabies, which play an invaluable role in early childhood education. The article introduces the priority values of Turkish socioculture (giving birth to a child, caring and loving attitude to him, raising his citizenship, development of his mind and knowledge), reflected in lullabies; lucidly reveals the methods of upbringing and education of children represented in this genre of oral folk art; demonstrates the basic principles of attitudes towards children that exist in Turkish ethnic culture. The deep and objective analysis of the materials of Turkish lullabies presented in the article testifies to the role of maternal folklore as a pedagogical potential for the formation of a picture of the world of a modern child. In addition, the recent increase in interest in folklore among various ethnic groups of Muslims makes interdisciplinary study of the texts of Turkish lullabies absolutely relevant. It is well known that the process of becoming a socially active person who shares the moral, ethical and sociocultural values of his ethnic group begins in early childhood. Hence, it becomes clear that without ethnically colored lullabies, the process of spiritual and moral development of a child’s personality is not possible. An analysis of the content of the lullabies of the Turkish people indisputably proves that this ethnos uses “ninnis” (lullabies) as a means of forming historically developed sociocultural values and behaviors in children: kindness, humanity, mercy, patriotism, etc. Unfortunately, the pedagogical potential is currently Turkish lullabies are not used to the full, although, in our opinion, it is probably one of the ways to solve the problem of establishing a culture of conscious parenthood in modern youth. In addition, the materials in this article can find their application in the development of lecture and practical courses in ethnopedagogy.

Research on physical activity (PA) in different educational settings could elucidate which interventions promote a healthy school lifestyle in early childhood education (ECE). The aims of this study were: (a) to analyse the PA levels of preschoolers during school hours, as well as the rate of compliance with specific recommendations on total PA (TPA) and moderate-vigorous PA (MVPA); (b) to examine the role of structured movement sessions and recess time in the MVPA levels during school hours; (c) to evaluate the sociodemographic correlates of preschoolers and the school environment on MVPA behaviour during school hours. PA was evaluated with Actigraph accelerometers. Our main findings were that: (a) preschoolers engaged in very little TPA and MVPA during school hours; (b) children showed significantly higher MVPA levels on days with versus without structured movement sessions, and the contribution of the structured sessions to MVPA was significantly higher than that of recess time; (c) gender and age were associated with PA, and a high density of young children on the playground was associated with high levels of vigorous PA, whereas in the classroom, high density was associated with more sedentary behaviour. Structured PA could reduce the gap in achieving international recommendations.

If we are committed to the health and development of children, we need to recognize that the vast majority of the world's women are working women. In Africa, 80% of the women are actively engaged in economic activities outside the home. The "economic miracle" in Southeast Asia was made possible by the nimble fingers of thousands of women working in textile and electronics factories. There is need for pre-day-care advocacy for infants, through promotion of breast feeding and maternity leave. When the mother returns to work, the standard of the International Labor Organization should be applied, namely "...the care of children while the parents are working cannot be ignored because it forms a focal point on which three main concerns of development policy—work, health, and education—converge." Several principles emerged from the presentations in the international panel: 1. Child-care programs must be community based, using the resources of the families and the community organizations themselves. 2. Programs require the active involvement of the communities, women's groups, and other partners. 3. Programs are modified by innovations created by community organizations, universities, and other groups. 4. Programs require the mobilization of trained young men and women into the field of early childhood education and development. This international panel provided an overall uniting theme, that throughout the world the hope for the survival and better life for children unites parents of every country and every creed. This is one of the most powerful and strongest motivational resources in the world. We need to recognize the power of this hope and address that hope, providing with a certain degree of humility that there exist no single model, and no single country has all the answers. By respecting the ideas of the many innovations and different approaches of women, parents, and families, we can find the answers. There is a clear need for national networks as well as for international networks, exchanges of information, sharing of experience, and mobilization of the social resources in advocating early childhood education and development for the world's children.

AbstractAs policymakers and school communities work to address underlying causes of achievement gaps and access to quality early childhood education, this study considers the use of 21st Century Community Learning Centers to address early childhood education needs on western U.S. state, Idaho. The study sought to understand the relationship between federal and state policies related to out-of-school opportunities to enhance early childhood education. Utilizing data from a statewide evaluation of Idaho’s 21st Century Learning Centers, the study examined 92 centers providing after school, before school, or summer programs in grades preschool through the third grade to predominately at-risk children. Data collection included quantitative data from a survey given to parents (n = 183), as well as qualitative data collected through site-based interviews, focus groups and observations. Data included a review of historical and current data on participation rates; attendance rates; standardized test scores for program participants in grades PK-3 (n = 3258). Data were analyzed for themes and transfer. The study findings provide further insight into understanding possible relationships between U.S. federal and state policy regarding 21st Century Community Learning Centers on both students’ outcomes and parent satisfaction. The findings further support the role of out-of-school time (OST) experiences in the larger ecosystem of learning and provides insight into understanding how the OST activities are carried over into family life.
