Public human health is closely interrelated with the ecological state of the environment, which is especially important for urban areas. The article presents research data on the influence of a number of exogenous factors on population of the town of Vladikavkaz, which is an urbanized mountainous area. Morbidity rates of the population in correlation with the levels of noise, gamma radiation, electric and magnetic fields were studied. The analysis of influence of negative exogenous factors (that exceed permissible levels) has been carried out in areas of the town. The results of implementation of the method of medical-ecological-geophysical zoning are given. The groups of diseases, presumably associated with certain types of external influence, are identified, which together requires the development of targeted measures in order to improve public health and reduce the harmful effects of exogenous factors often of technogenic and anthropogenic nature.

<p>This research explores an approach for adaptive reuse to enhance livability and greater connection to place within provincial towns of New Zealand. There are existing buildings which are often left in disrepair or considered too expensive to refurbish or strengthen. They are often demolished with little consideration to the building’s significance, therefore adaptive reuse has become a missed opportunity in New Zealand.  Many of our provincial cities have uninhabited large-scale buildings, which need upgrading due to being outdated and no longer fit for purpose. Seismic upgrading is a key factor in why these buildings are left uninhabited. One of the urban areas which this is prevalent is Whanganui. Whanganui has the opportunity to blend the old and the new built form to create a revitalized and timeless street appearance.   The regeneration of Whanganui can be achieved through adaptive reuse to enhance the crafted beauty of the town through its architecture. The revitalization of Whanganui can give guidance to other provincial cities in New Zealand while enhancing the quality of life within the town.  An in-depth analysis of the history of Whanganui, will allow for heritage significance to play a major role in the redesign. This design will be developed at three different scales to demonstrate how the built form can enhance connection to place and livability. These scales are at an urban, a built and a detailed scale.   The main cross roads linking the city of Whanganui to its river is surrounded by character and historical buildings. It will be used as a key area illustrating Whanganui’s past to better inform the future.</p>

The research aims at identifying the language choice used by Chinese family in Langsa, the phenomenon that has long been seen in Chinese families: having tendency to choose Indonesian as the second language in their families even though they live in the Aceh region. This phenomenon is not only seen in the town but also in urban areas. The emergence of language selection is caused by the occurrence of language, social condition, and cultural tradition. The interesting thing to look at and study in connection with this phenomenon is that members in the family are from the Chinese ethnic group and speakers of native Chinese but the language used to communicate with the community in the chosen environment is Indonesian. The focus of this research is to analyze language selection Indonesia in a Chinese family in Langsa. The research is executed by means of descriptive qualitative method supported by the technique of interview to get deep information about the language choice.

Today’s climate is unpredictable there are so many natural calamities which took place in our country which is the Philippines, two weeks ago because of the sudden changes of the weather in the Province of Zambales, the Philippines a strong tornado hits the town of Castillejos, Zambales which some of the electrical wirings were severely damaged because of the sudden change of the climate. The researcher is thinking of implementing a home gardening to each Municipality in our Province. By doing this it can help lessen the pollution in the air and it will help heal our Ozone Layer faster. The empirical evidence for the benefits of gardening and the advocate of the development and testing of socio-ecological models of community resilience through the impact of community gardens, especially in urban areas is highly effective(Okvat & Zautra, 2011). As lessening the air pollution will have a greater impact on our Ozone Layer no to deplete but it will heal the would faster. The present study revealed that local experiences in the face of climate change adaptation have merits that need special consideration(Anik & Khan, 2012). Also, the Researcher will implement this project in the Municipality of Subic, Zambales.

Wet-markets in Sarawak have remained a momentous part and parcel of the Sarawak people. Such markets exist in both the rural and urban areas of the state, but more importantly, it is popularized by women, either as sellers (traders) or buyers in these markets. The aim of this paper, therefore, is to critically examine the factors that motivate female sellers (market women) in these wet markets to take up this occupation. To empirically explain these factors, the study will explore the notion of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation in relation to women’s participation in the wet market trading activities. Intrinsic motivation is defined as the doing of an activity for its inherent satisfaction rather than for some external influence. In contrast, extrinsic motivation is a behaviour that takes place when one is being influenced to do something by an external force.

Abstract. Assessment of geological hazards in urban areas must integrate geospatial and temporal data, such as complex geology, highly irregular ground surface, fluctuations in pore-water pressure, surface displacements and environmental factors. Site investigation for geological hazard studies frequently produces surface maps, geological information from borehole data, laboratory test results and monitoring data. Specialized web-based GIS tools were created to facilitate geospatial analyses of displacement data from inclinometers and pore pressure data from piezometers as well as geological information from boreholes and surface mapping. A variety of visual aids in terms of graphs or charts can be created in the web page on the fly, e.g. displacement vector, time displacement and summaries of geotechnical testing results. High-resolution satellite or aerial images and LiDAR data can also be effectively managed, facilitating fast and preliminary hazard assessment. A preliminary geohazard assessment using the web based tools was carried out for the Town of Peace River.

Abstract: Air pollution is the biggest problem of every nation, whether it is developed or developing. Health problems have been growing at faster rate especially in urban areas of developing countries where industrialization and growing number of vehicles leads to release of lot of gaseous pollutants. Harmful effects of pollution include mild allergic reactions such as irritation of the throat, eyes and nose as well as some serious problems like bronchitis, heart diseases, pneumonia, lung and aggravated asthma. According to a survey, due to air pollution 50,000 to 100,000 premature deaths per year occur in the U.S. alone. LPG sensor is added in this system which is used mostly in houses. The system will show temperature and humidity. The system can be installed anywhere but mostly in industries and houses where gases are mostly to be found and gives an alert message when the system crosses threshold limit. The advantages of the detector, have a reliable stability, rapid response recovery and long-life features. It is affordable, userfriendly, low-cost and minimum-power requirement hardware which is appropriate for mobile measurement, as well as comprehensible data collection

Background: Tobacco smoking is habit which usually begins in the adolescent age. It is a risk factor for many non-communicable diseases and mortality can be prevented if smoking is quit.Methods: It is a cross sectional study.2 schools were randomly selected from urban and rural areas in field practice area of Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences. A GYTS questionnaire is modified to local setting and administered to the students.Results: A total of 367 students were enrolled. The level of awareness regarding harmful effects of tobacco consumption was good. It was 98.85% in urban areas and 94.84% in rural areas.Conclusions: As adolescent is the age of habit forming identification of the problem and correcting it at early stage itself will be beneficial for individuals, family and society.

Drinking water that is consumed should be clean and healthy. To avoid illness and disruption of bodily functions such as kidney function, liver, brain, teeth, and even mental disorders. Some people in Besole village still use dug well water as a source of drinking water. The geographical state of the town of Besole, Tulungagung district, is a mountainous area of marble containing lime which allows for mineral content, main calcium in the drinking water of residents. This study aims to determine the identification of urine sediments in residents who consume well water in Besole Village, Besuki District, Tulungagung Regency in 2018. This type of research is descriptive non-analytic, by determining the percentage of urine sediments that consume well water through an examination at the Pathology Laboratory STIKes Hutama Abdi Husada Tulungagung. The number of samples is 30 people, with simple random sampling technique. Based on the research conducted found the results of abnormal urine sediment percentage, ie, 6.7% leukocytes, 3.3% erythrocytes, 16.7% epithelium, 30% calcium oxalate and 3.3% bacteria. Water containing lime should be boiled, precipitated and filtered before consumption.

Abstract. Morella is an archetypical medieval town that is home to many heritage buildings, protected by fortified walls and crowned by an imposing castle. Located in a mountainous area, this town is one of only four examples in the Valencian Region (Spain) that retain the entire defence perimeter. This defence heritage has been decisive not only in shaping the urban layout of the town, but also in the local lifestyle and traditions of the place: living inside the walls means being protected from the weather, but also inhabiting a limited environment and having social and cultural connotations. The process of enhancing the value of heritage buildings involves studying, analysing and understanding the elements they are made up of with the aim of proposing new uses based on their significance, their characteristics, the environment and social needs. To address this objective, the present work has carried out an architectural analysis of each of the towers and gates of the town walls, which has made it possible to study their characteristics and detect the potential for the interpretation of the heritage buildings in each section. The result is the ‘Walls Walking Tour’, a proposal for a public visit that divides the walled perimeter of Morella into five thematic areas that each offers different types of routes, activities and relationships with the environment. In short, this initiative contributes to the enhancement and cultural diffusion of Morella's defence heritage, and brings buildings and their history closer both to the local population and to visitors.
