The study was based on the indifference curve analysis as an economics concept that is premised on assessing consumer behaviour driven by their budgets, products choice and maximum satisfaction. The model was applied in the Zimbabwe tourism destination since the behaviour of the tourists has changed from positive to a negative over its offerings. The research was done using both qualitative and quantitative research designs which is a mixed method. The results of the research shows that the budgets of tourists are failing to meet the prices charged in the Zimbabwean tourism destination. Local participants pointed on the economic downfall which has reduced the value of their disposable income associated with high unemployment rate. Foreign respondents revealed that the Zimbabwean tourism destination is expensive for holiday makers as compared to other tourism destinations in the region. These factors have reduced the totals satisfaction of tourists in Zimbabwe. The research therefore recommended price discrimination charging relatively low prices to local tourists, intensive campaigns to positively change the behaviour of local tourists and mergers so as to achieve economies of scale and charge low prices.

Abstract: A Walk to Remember is one of the best-selling novels written by Nicholas Spark. The novel has been translated into Indonesian language by Kathleen S.W. This paper is intended to investigate one of the equivalences of the translation: grammatical equivalence. The study used descriptive qualitative method to analyze translation in the novel. The investigation is aimed to identify strategies used to translate three grammatical features: (1) pronoun, (2) number, and (3) voice. The writers take 100 data for each feature as samples of the study. To compare voicing systems in each version of the novel, all sentences in chapter 1 are taken as samples. Based on the findings, the writers conclude that there are five strategies used in translating pronoun: (1) omitting pronoun, (2) translating pronoun as it is, (3) changing pronoun into its reference, (4) making pronoun shift, and (5) adding pronoun. Furthermore, there are two strategies used to translate singular noun with articles: (1) translating articles with lexical addition, (2) translating articles by omission, and (3) changing singular nouns in the English version of the novel into plural nouns in its Indonesian version. In terms of voice, the translator tends to keep the original voice form of the English version of the novel in its Indonesian translation. Keywords: equivalence, pronoun, number, voice Abstrak: A Walk to Remember adalah salah satu novel laris karangan Nicholas Spark. The objective of this study is to examine the effect of bank lending on the growth of selected small and medium scale businesses in Nigeria. There are two basic research designs in social sciences, qualitative and quantitative orientation. However, the literature suggests a growing interest in a mixed approach (triangulation) following on from the argument that one is used to strengthen the other. Often, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, also known as the triangulation of methods, can capture a more holistic, complete, and contextual view of a phenomenon. The research is based on both qualitative and quantitative research designs.  Three research questions were addressed. Data were collected from a purposive sample of 200 respondents drawn from a population of 400 respondents. A research developed questionnaire was used for the data collection. Data were analyzed using simple percentages and tables. The result of the study revealed that Lending to SMEs encourages self-employment thereby reducing the rate of unemployment and crime in Nigeria. It also boosts industrialization as well as improving the economic situation in the Country. In conclusion, bank lending influence positively the level of economic activities and the growth of SMEs in the country. A number of recommendations were made based on the findings prominent among them is the need for Government, Commercial bank, and Central bank of Nigeria to increase lending to small and medium scale business with a view to create more jobs, reduce crime and unemployment as well as boost industrialization in Nigeria.

This research is conducted as other researches discussing translation issues focused on identifying techniques implemented to translate a specified translation issue rather than identifying all issues which are possible to be obstacles for translators. However, a research covering as many issues as possible becomes important in order to contribute theories and solutions to ease translator’s job. The aim of this research is to identify translation issues in the English version of Donald Duck Comics. The data are texts contained in the comic panel involving words, phrases, clauses and sentences which are potential to be difficulties for translators. Document analysis is employed to collect the data by reading the comic thoroughly, and noting down them. The validation is conducted by focus group discussion involving one translation expert and three members of doctoral program students majoring in translation. The result of this research shows that there are nineteen (19) translation issues involving abbreviation, cultural terms, dialect, ellipsis, humor, idiomatic expressions, informal expressions, interjections, kinship terms, measurement unit terms, non-standard grammatical structure, onomatopoeia, pronoun, proper name, sarcastic expressions, slang, speaking fluency disorder, swearing and wordplay. The result of this research can be developed into a translation model providing a translation issues mapping along with translation techniques choices which can be used as a translators’ guide.

Giving advice is a common speech act but potentially problematic as it may threaten the face of the hearer. The speaker will use politeness strategies to mitigate face threatening act in giving advice. Politeness strategies as mitigation are not only appeared in real conversation but also in fiction. Thus it raises a question how translators deal with politeness marker in giving advice in intercultural context. This paper aims at exploring the translation of politeness markers in giving advice used by the main characters in the novel Deception Point written by Dan Brown (2001). Data were the utterance of advices made by main characters in the novel Deception Point and its two Indonesian translation version. Data were taken by document analysis and focus group discussion in classifying the translation techniques. The result show that 1) there are only two main characters who give advice due to the felicity conditions of advice, 2) positive and negative politeness strategies are employed by the main characters in giving advice, 3) there is a change in the translation caused by the implementation of translation techniques to the politeness markers.

The pottery industry in Ghana has been experiencing low demand for its products due to the influx of plastic products and other substitutes. Empirical studies reveal that consumers prefer these traditional products for their domestic and aesthetic uses. This paper examined the determinants of pottery demand in Ghana. Two pottery centres each in five regions in Ghana in addition to 1421 pottery consumers were randomly selected for the study. Using descriptive statistics under the qualitative and quantitative research designs, the study revealed that price of pottery products and their availability play a very significant role in determining demand. Results on quality and perceived purpose or function of pottery products are however mixed. Keywords: Pottery; demand; determinants; Ghana
