Abstract: Preparing young poeple to be able to solve various environmental problems urgently to be done in order to improve and establish better environmental morality. Islam can be the basic and the main of how to build the character of students towards the environment through environmental education that is integrated with Islamic values. Islam forbids explicitly and harshly for humans to do damage on earth as a source of natural disasters as well as encouraging humans to have good character towards nature. Allah made human as caliph on earth, but in utilizing nature must maintain the balance and preservation of the environment, people who damage the environment are hypocrites and very disliked by Allah. Acording to God that peopole who damage the environment is the very transgressors. Element of Islamic values ​​on the environment can be used as material and the main foundation in environmental education in schools.

With increasing global environmental problems, considerable evidence now suggests that environmental education can influence students’ ecologically friendly behavior significantly. Addressing increased environmental problems requires better understanding of the relations between focused and explicit environmental education, environmental responsibility, and religious values. The current study examined the relationship between environmental education and ecologically friendly behavior, utilizing insights from resource conservation theory. The relationship between the variables mentioned above was examined to determine the mediating effect of environmental responsibility and the moderating effect of Islamic values. Through a cross-sectional approach, data were gathered from 413 university students. The data were analyzed using analytical techniques such as “structural equation modeling” and “PROCESS.” The study’s findings support the predicted conceptual model, indicating that environmental education was positively related to environmentally friendly behavior. Furthermore, environmental responsibility partially mediated the relationship above, whereas Islamic values positively moderated the relationships between environmental education and ecologically friendly behavior as well as between environmental education and environmental responsibility. These findings emphasize the critical role of environmental education and Islamic values in comprehending the ecological behaviors of Muslim students.

Researches and Studies made by the Department of Oceanography of the Institute of Geoscience of the State University of Rio de Janeiro UERJ, evidenced the need for educational support where environment-related questions were concerned. A wide range of environment problems tend to concentrate in coastal areas, owing to disordinate urban growth combined with the lack of substructure to cope with it A large number of these problems can be minimized through the participation of the local community. Thus the goals of environmental education are to supply information, to promote a change in the population's attitude toward environmental problems, besides stimulating its participation by fostering its sense of responsibility. Preliminary results have demonstrated that the community has shown great interest in the work that has been proposed, and it has contributed with participation, promising response. Environmental education is fundamental when we consider possible solutions for environmental problems in coastal urban centers. Only by educating the main cause of environmental problems, man himself, will it be possible to consider the question starting from its very origin. This abstract presents two pioneer experiments in the Municipio of Rio de Janeiro, which are “Muito Prazer Marapendi” (“Glad to know you, Marapendi”) and “Troca de Areias da Praia de Copacabana” (“Exchange of Sands in Copacabana Beach”).

Environmental education is needed to increase community resillience, with knowledge and skills in order to understand environmental problems, be motivated to act, and solve or prevent certain environmental problems. Building social resilience in utilizing while preserving the environment is one of the important factors for sustainable environmental management. One of the efforts is by increasing people's understanding and love of biodiversity in order to increase their motivation to manage it sustainably. To provide an engaging and dynamic learning environment for Generation Z or gen Z, a creative approach is adopted that combines technology with social interaction and feedback that stimulates curiosity and motivation, and simulates real-life situations. The problem agreed upon by the team of this program and partners was the students' low recognition of biodiversity and its function for the environment. In the long term, this could have implications for a lack of appreciation for biodiversity, including a low appreciation for the presence of plants and animals endemic to North Sulawesi. The solution applied is to introduce various types of plants and animals, with an emphasis on endemic species, and their benefits for humans and the environment. After the community partnership program (PKM, Program Kemitraan Maysarakat), the student groups of SDN 36 and SDN 70 Kota Manado (main target) as well as teachers and students involved (additional targets) increase their knowledge about biodiversity and its function for the environment and can apply planting and maintaining various local fruit-producing trees in schools and the surrounding environment. The community partnership program activities are carried out in Kelurahan Kleak, Malalayang District, Manado City, North Sulawesi Province for six (6) months. The service is carried out in several activities as follows. 1) Inventory of the school environment situation and student behavior in relation to their interactions with biodiversity. 2) Programming with partners. 3) Preparation of teaching modules. 4) Implementation of outreach activities in the form of webinars with active involvement of learners through presentations accompanied by interactive discussions. 5) Planting and distributing various types of plant seeds. 6) Preparing reports and writing articles for scientific publications. Environmental education (EE) is an integration of environmental understanding with formal or informal education. EE is expected to help students gain understanding on the awareness and knowledge about the environment to further shape student attitudes. From these understanding, skills and abilities will emerge so that students can actively participate and become agents in solving environmental problems. The concept of EE itself can be traced back to the 18th century, although globally, those engaged in the environmental sector began to strive to develop a more measurable EE concept since the 1970s. The legal basis also varies, with application models that adapt to each distinctive environment. Adiwiyata is a form of EE managed by the government through the integration of two important ministries, namely the ministry that deals with environmental issues and the ministry that deals with education. This study was intended to find out whether Adiwiyata was in accordance with the EE concept that was agreed upon globally. In particular, the implementation of the Adiwiyata Program in Surabaya City is the focus of this paper based on the results of research on the environment in 2019 which have been published. The environmental awareness of Adiwiyata School in Surabaya City is quite high and the concept developed by the Surabaya City Government is very solid that involves all parties.AbstrakPendidikan lingkungan hidup (PLH) merupakan pengintegrasian pemahaman lingkungan hidup dengan pendidikan formal atau pendidikan informal. PLH diharapkan dapat membantu siswa memperoleh kesadaran dan pengetahuan mengenai lingkungan hidup untuk selanjutnya dapat membentuk sikap siswa. Dari pemahaman tersebut akan muncul keterampilan dan kecakapan sehingga siswa dapat berpartisipasi aktif dan menjadi agen dalam memecahkan masalah lingkungan. Konsep PLH sendiri dapat ditelusuri sampai abad ke-18, walaupun secara global, mereka yang bergerak di bidang lingkungan hidup mulai berupaya untuk menyusun konsep PLH yang lebih terukur sejak tahun 1970-an. Dasar hukumnya pun beragam, dengan model penerapan yang menyesuaikan dengan lingkungan masing-masing. Adiwiyata merupakan salah satu bentuk PLH yang dikelola pemerintah dengan mengintegrasikan dua kementerian penting, yaitu kementerian yang menangani masalah lingkungan hidup dan kementerian yang menangani pendidikan. Kajian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui apakah Adiwiyata sudah sesuai dengan konsep PLH yang disepakati secara global. Secara khusus, pelaksanaan Program Adiwiyata di Kota Surabaya menjadi fokus dari tulisan ini berdasarkan hasil penelitian tentang lingkungan di tahun 2019 yang telah dibukukan. Kesadaran lingkungan Sekolah Adiwiyata di Kota Surabaya sudah cukup tinggi dan konsep yang dikembangkan oleh Pemerintah Kota (Pemkot) Surabaya sangat solid dengan melibatkan semua pihak.

The aim of this study was to measure the attitudes of students and secondary students in Aqla falcon towards environmental problems. And whether there are statistically significant differences in trends towards environmental problems due to gender variable (student, student). To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher used the descriptive method. A questionnaire (25) was designed to measure trends towards environmental problems. Was applied to a sample of (126) students. After data collection and processing, the results showed that the attitudes of students and students are positive. The results of the study revealed no statistically significant differences in trends towards all environmental problems according to gender variable (student, student). The results also showed no statistically significant differences in the attitudes of male and female students towards all environmental problems according to the educational level of the father and the educational level of the mother. In light of the results, the researcher presented a number of recommendations, most notably: the need to maintain environmental awareness among students to include environmental education in the curriculum at all stages of public education, and the preparation of scientific programs calling for protecting the environment from all sources of pollutants and conservation.

High flora biodiversity provides many functions, both ecological, economic, social, aesthetic and security. People's preference for a variety of local fruits can increase their motivation to plant and maintain various fruit-producing plants, and manage biodiversity in general. The problem agreed by the Team and the two partners was, the low knowledge of students about the diversity of local fruits and their benefits, on the other hand the students were accustomed to consuming imported fruit. In the long run, it can have implications for the lack of preference for local fruits, as well as the low appreciation for the existence of local fruit-producing plants. The solution offered is to introduce local fruits, local fruit-producing trees, their benefits for health and for the environment. Environmental education is needed to prepare the community with knowledge and skills; preparing them to understand environmental problems, motivating to act, and equipping with skills and abilities to solve or prevent certain environmental problems. It is expected that the student group of INPRES elementary school and St. Catholic elementary school Agustinus Warembungan (main targets) and the teachers and students involved (additional targets) gained knowledge about the diversity of local fruits and their benefits and were able to plant and maintain local fruit-producing trees in the school and residential areas. PKM was held in Warembungan Village, Pineleng District, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province for six (6) months. The program is carried out in the following activities. 1) Preparation of the program with partners. 2) Preparation of teaching modules and teaching aids introducing discussion, as well as preparation of demonstration tools and materials and student practice. 3) Implementation of extension activities in the form of discussion and demonstration with active learner involvement (direct experience). 4) Compilation of reports and writing articles for scientific publication. This study aimed to determine the effect of the activity-based environmental education course on the attitudes and behavior levels of the students of the child development program concerning environmental problems. The study was prepared by using the explanatory sequential design, one of the mixed method patterns in which qualitative and quantitative data are used together. While one-group pretest-posttest experimental design was used in the quantitative dimension of the study, phenomenology was employed in its qualitative dimension. The sample group of the study was composed of 60 first-year students attending Kayseri University Hüseyin Şahin Vocational High School Child Development Program in the 2019-2020 academic year (spring semester). Within the scope of the environmental education course, activity-based practices were performed with the students for 6 weeks. The students were divided into groups and one group applied the related activities they prepared with their friends in the classroom each week. Before and after the application, 'The Environmental Problems AttitudeScale' developed by Güven (2013) and 'The Environmental Problems Behavior Scale' developed by Güven and Aydoğdu (2012) were applied for the students. After collecting the quantitative data, 10 students were interviewed via a semi-structured interview form and their opinions on the activities were collected. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for normality, t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were used to analyze the qualitative data of the study. The qualitative data of the study were analyzed based on descriptive analysis. As a result of the study, it was determined that after the activity-based practices performed in the environmental education course, the scores of the attitude and behavior of the students concerning environmental problems increased. As a result of the interviews made with the students, it was found that the students had both positive and negative opinions on the activities conducted in the course. By these activities, the students emphasized that they had cognitive and affective acquisitions in the environmental education course. Finally, the students stated that they acquired awareness, consciousness, and responsibility about the environmental problems along with these activities.

The article discusses the need for environmental knowledge for the formation of the competence of a doctor in higher education. Possible points of view on the nature of the educational process are shown and argued, which allow integrating the body of acquired knowledge into the field of medical practice. The features of design technologies are revealed and the advantages of its use in the training of medical specialists are given, from the point of view of the professional development of doctors. The article is devoted to the actualization and significance of environmental education, with the aim of forming environmental awareness and educating the population, for processing sustainable development of society. One of the important directions associated with solving environmental problems at the present stage is environmental education and upbringing of medical students and the formation of environmental culture. Environmental education both in the world and in Russia is considered today a priority area of training and education of students at all levels of education. We have substantiated the relevance and relationship of environmental education and upbringing, disclosed their essence, objectives, content, principles, forms and methods of work; the analysis of the state is given, the mechanism of elaboration of certain aspects of the problem is characterized, etc. Achieving sustainable development and environmental safety of territories, solving global environmental problems, is impossible without the foundation of the foundations of a culture of environmental management and environmental education of the population. The variant used in the training of specialists in the field of medicine has shown high efficiency in the formation of practice-oriented competencies of a medical graduate.

This chapter discusses the notion of “cities as opportunities,” drawing on urban experiences lived in the broader geopolitical context of the Global South. It shows that different countries and cities present different conditions and opportunities to address multidimensional social and environmental problems. In the Global South, cities integrate into environmental narratives aspects of their colonial histories and decolonizing viewpoints, which are reflected in educational practices. Environmental education in these cities reflects the ways that people construct perspectives and narratives to frame and address social and environmental issues, while also providing models for other countries seeking to simultaneously address environmental and social justice. The chapter looks at examples of urban environmental education from three countries: South Africa, Brazil, and India. It demonstrates how the intensity of colonial legacies and environmental problems in cities in the Global South makes them “cities as opportunities” for environmental education and urban sustainability.

Environmental education (EE) for sustainable development remains a valuable subject of contemporary society, which is characterized with environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, loss of biodiversity, and resource degradation. The delivery of EE is based on the North American Association for environmental education values of knowledge, dispositions, competencies, and responsible behavior towards the environment. EE is a transformative tool to learners since it prepares learners with skills, attitudes, knowledge, and values to resolve environmental problems. It promotes environmental activism and action-oriented resolution of environmental issues. The full benefits of EE are challenged by limited human capacity, questionable professionalism, limited resources, and poor transformation of knowledge to practice. These challenges however can be alleviated through community engagement in formulating EE programs, multidisciplinary engagements, and research on EE delivery and quality.
