Abstract. Centering attention on people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) has relevance to the educational field. The present study gathers the views of university students studying a Bachelor’s Degree relating to Physical Activity and Sports Sciences at public universities in Spain and United Kingdom (UK). Focus is placed on the training received relating to students with SEND. The data came from a questionnaire completed by 457 students from both countries who were in their last year of Bachelor’s Degree. The results show that the quality of training in SEND is the factor that most influences self-perceptions about scientific and professional capacity to address disability and SEN. Furthermore, personal experience in SEND matters also show an important influence and, to a lesser extent, although also significantly, the predominance of practical training over theoretical knowledge. The percentage of students who declare that their Bachelor’s Degree gives high importance to training in SEND is higher in the sample of UK students. In addition, significant differences have been found over the three components detected, demonstrating that Spanish students, unlike UK students, perceive that their level of professional training is higher, despite there being a greater need for training, and that the preparation of teachers for integration is also greater. Results suggest the necessity to continue focusing efforts on improving training in the field of SEND, providing it with higher levels of inclusiveness, both in its theoretical and practical content. This is something that should also be applied to continuous training offered by official educational institutions addressed to non-university teachers.

Social work as a sphere of professional activity had formed in Europe by the middle of the XX century, but the experience accumulated in different countries did not result in uniform standard for the social welfare work and professional training. In Russia, social and welfare training is a relatively new training programme (since 1991), which needs to be substantially detailed by theoretical experience and practical recommendations from colleagues from around the world. In these conditions, academic mobility provides an opportunity to enrich the modern system of qualified social and welfare personnel training and expand our understanding of the structure of foreign professional education, as well as technologies, approaches and forms of student training. The authors show that various aspects of student social and welfare professional training are in the focus of domestic and foreign academic interest; two main sources of this problem are identified. The article dwells on the practical experience the students and teachers of Nizhnevartovsk State University and Aabenraa University College South Denmark accumulated through academic exchange. Regulations and statistical data analysis, observations, interviews, discussions and seminars helped to provide the necessary insight into the system of social and welfare training in Denmark. Research material may be of interest to students of Social Work programmes when studying such subjects as ‘Foreign Experience of Social Work’, ‘Social Education Fundamentals’; to teachers when developing bachelor training curriculum; to specialists of institutions when organizing student practical training.

The purpose of this article is to describe the feasibility of using a system approach to the formation of the higher educational establishment students’ key competences formation, and this phenomenon definition propriety by the pedagogical system. In the learning policy of higher education, formation of various didactic and pedagogical phenomena is in process. Analyzing the problems of training and education, determining the process of higher educational establishment students’ key competences formation by the pedagogical system, one can conclude that they need a system approach in the course of their development. The situation prevailing in the professional training of the specialist encourages educational institutions to look for ways to improve the educational process. It is known that from the standpoint of a systematic approach, the learning process is regarded as a system that is subject to planning and developing a clear hierarchy of goals, knowledge and skills that comply with the overall ultimate goal of the system all components, and is also in constant development. Changing or replacing one parameter or component significantly affects all others. A system approach emerged as a response to the long-standing domination of analytical research method, which is inadequate in cases where the object being studied contributes the need to correlate its parts with one another or to correlate a part and the whole, to establish the relationship between, at first glance, incomparable facts accumulated within even one research work, as well as when it is necessary to search for analogies and similarities in phenomena of different origins.

The emphasis is made on a number of new tasks related to the education content update. Implementation of the function of deliberate development management lies in a combination of traditional education with modern electronic technologies. Therefore, in order to achieve the training objectives (the expected application of acquired competencies) and improve the quality of education, a student must master existing forms of self-education. The practicability of using electronic means in educational activities has been proved as most students are active Internet and programs users that help to interest them, concentrate students' attention on studying new material, motivate their active cognitive activity. Since it is a priority task of modern higher education establishments to create pedagogical conditions for the identification and development of students' abilities, satisfaction of their needs and interests, formation of competences, development of educational and cognitive activity and creative autonomy, purposeful regulation of independence development is carried out in the process of educational interaction by helping to form creative student activity experience. The pedagogical aspect of students' motivation for independent cognitive activity has also been analyzed in the article by the author. It has been proved that the formation of educational motives is directly proportional to the success and further individual development as a future specialist.
