It is well known that proper names in the East, and especially among the Mohammadans, follow no such simple rule as that which has long prevailed in modern Europe, where the Christian name or names conferred in infancy and the family name or surnames are usually borne through life, and where it is a matter of suspicion to have an alias. In the East, on the other hand, we hear of persons gathering up in the course of their career a variety of names, and being popularly known by one or other of them at different periods, and to an extent that gives rise to perplexity. This was notably the case among the Arabs in the height of their preeminence. A person might receive a name in his infancy (usually conferred on his birth or at his circumcision), and to this might be added a patronymic, or a name expressive of his paternal or family relations. He might then receive a title expressive of his zeal for the faith, and soubriquets descriptive of his personal qualities or appearance, or the country or town in which he was born or had settled, or the religious sect to which he belonged ; and if he played a part in public life, to all these might be added, as in Europe, a title or titles of dignity; and if he had acquired a reputation as an author, he might assume some name of fancy. These various names or titles might never be united in the same individual, but the combinations are numerous and shifting. Certain rules are observed in their formation or application, but it was a matter of accident by which of these designations a person might be known to his contemporaries, or his name transmitted to modern times.

Here, we analyze the construction and politicization of the environmental problems created by the urban wastewater overflows in the area of the Vantaa River, Finland, between 2004 and 2015. The contradictory uses and values of the river as a wastewater channel and important recreational haven with widely acclaimed ecological values forms the context of this case study. We investigate what types of environmental problem are caused by urban wastewater overflows, how the various stakeholders define the problem, and possible solutions to it. The analysis is based on written materials produced by individuals associated with the problem, applying the method of content analysis. We identify various stages in the evolution of the problem and suggest ways in which cooperation between stakeholders can be enhanced to minimize environmental damage and social harm. These include formulating a common goal, improved mutual information sharing, realistic and clearly communicated plans for technological improvements, and a common understanding of the timescales used for the anticipated results.

Subject Narcotics and corruption challenges. Significance President-elect Pedro Pablo Kuczynski has promised to crack down on corruption in public life during his term in office. The extent of corruption -- always difficult to quantify -- has increased with the expansion of cocaine production in recent years. Although not the only source of corruption, the scale of cocaine manufacture, trafficking and money laundering is having a corrosive effect on legal systems and faith in public institutions. It is also a factor in citizen insecurity which tops the list of voter concerns. Impacts Drug trafficking occurs in parallel to such other illicit activities as illegal logging and mining. The extent of the informal economy will limit the efficacy of regulation. Drug interests will remain represented in the new Congress, particularly in the majority Fuerza Popular (FP).

It is important to distinguish between two sorts of greenies. First there are those who think that the environmental problem can be solved by more attention to clearing up, or minimising in future, the damage caused by industrial-affluent society. Most environmentally concerned people are in this category, calling for things like more pollution control, but having no recognition of any need to question our affluent lifestyles or the rate of producing and consuming and economic growth their society involves. The first part of the following discussion argues that this common position is mistaken, that there is no chance of solving the environment problem without facing up to drastic reduction in GNP and ‘living standards’.Unfortunately there are at present few greenies of the second type; people who realise that environmental damage is just one more huge problem being generated by our unsustainable ‘growth and greed’ society. There is no more important issue for environmental educators to focus on than the question of whether it is sufficient to patch up the damage being caused while plunging on down the track to ever-greater affluence and GNP, or whether the problems can only be solved by fundamental transition to a very different society, a radical conserver society. The argument below is that there is no chance of solving the environment problem nor any of the other major global problems facing us unless we move to lifestyles, patterns of settlement, values, and especially to an economic system which permit us to live well on far lower rates of per capita resource use and environmental impact that we have at the present in countries like Australia.

Research purpose was to develop a framework for the systematic assessment of the personal qualities formation in graduates of educational institutions in regard of preventing behavioral deviations and risks reduction of personal student’s development vector changing. An indicator of the effectiveness of this activity is the normative students’ behavior, based on the value system enshrined inthe Federal State Educational Standard (FSES) in the form of a personal “portrait of a graduate of the school”. However, the evaluation criteria and the methodology for identifying these qualities are not presented in the Federal Educational Standard. Methods and techniques. The methodological basis of the study is a functional-role approach. During the empirical study, the method of expert assessments and the method “Repertory Lattices” by J. Kelly were used. Results and scientific novelty. To achieve the goal of the study, we have proposed a methodology for identifying and evaluating the formation of a educational institution graduate’s personal qualities. The methodological basis of the study is a functional-role approach that allows systematisation of personal qualities in accordance with FSES. An important feature of the approach implemented is the ability to assess personal characteristics that form the inner picture of the world and the subjective values system of the student, which ensures compliance with the requirements of the FSES general education to diversify the psychological and pedagogical support of the educational process, socialization and education of students. Practical significance. The implemented of the framework as a diagnostic tool would facilitate to interface and simultaneously solve two diagnostic problems. The use of “Repertory grids” allows us to overcome the distortion of the results of the study in the interests of achieving social approval and reconstruct the values system and meanings of the subject. The use of psychosemantics methods in combination with a functional-role approach provides the ability to score subjective-personal characteristics that form the inner picture of the world and the subjective system of values of students.

Abstract The article highlights the need to include project activities as an important component of the learning process. The purpose of project activities is to provide the necessary foundation for individuals to work on their own development and to provide the necessary aids to support the desire to grow and improve. It is suggested that Donald Super’s ideas should be taken into account when planning the stages of project activities, adding a stage for individual reflection throughout the project. The development of the child is a key task for the school, the issues of giving importance to the project activities in the curriculum are defined. The idea of using project activities as an environment for mastering competencies is put forward. A point of view on the value of mastering competencies and skills during schooling that will help be effective in the future is provided, for the purposes of our age period according to Donald Super. A viewpoint on the need for student participation in project activities in order to activate the personal qualities of participants in the learning process is outlined. Learning activities in institutions of general secondary education should be aimed at the development of the personality of education applicants. Opportunities to try themselves in "different roles as a performer" are provided exactly by the project method of learning, which corresponds to the age stage of professional development according to Donald Super. The level of conscious acquisition of knowledge and skills when working on a project or case study increases significantly and is added to the process of shaping one's career trajectory. The introduction of this type of activity in the practice of the educational institution solves a wide range of problems faced by institutions of general secondary education in the process of its functioning. Key words: self-determination, project activity, learning, Donald Super's theory.
