The concepts of “summary”, “result”, “effect”, “effectiveness and efficiency” are de-grouped. In general, «effectiveness» is a relative indicator characterizing the degree of achievement by the economic entity of the goal in one or more areas and all its economic activity at a certain point in time, that is, it is a cumulative result of the activities of the business entity. While “efficiency” is a relative indicator that characterizes the positive dynamics of the development of a business entity at a certain point in time and is equal to the relative of the result or effect to the costs that caused its receipt. The criteria of efficiency of functioning of the enterprise are considered, namely: effectiveness, introduction of innovations, efficiency, quality of working conditions, product quality. It is noted that the improvement of the efficiency of foreign trade operations is associated with the effectiveness of the use of the company’s assets, its funds, the implementation of investment processes, the achievement of high-quality products, etc. It was emphasized that the smaller the domestic market for the products of this enterprise, the more important it becomes to enter foreign markets. The effectiveness of foreign trade operations depends on the stage of their planning and preliminary preparation for implementation and is evaluated through financial analysis. The following algorithm for assessing the effectiveness of foreign economic activity of the enterprise is presented: preparatory stage; design stage; analytical stage. To evaluate the export activity of the enterprise, it is proposed to use the following indicators: export growth rate, share of sales costs on foreign markets in total sales costs, share of profit from export sales in the total volume of profit from exporter’s sale, profitability of exported products, profitability of sales on the foreign market, competitiveness of products on the foreign market. For the analysis of the export activity of the enterprise in the literature, the following approach is proposed: a preliminary review of general indicators; analysis of the contract portfolio for export deliveries; analysis of the volume of sales of products for export; analysis of capital use in the implementation of export activities; effectiveness of export activities.

In modern conditions, the further development of the market economy puts each subject of economic activity in very difficult conditions. For the survival and effective functioning of an organization, it is no longer enough to simply produce goods in the maximum possible volume, it is especially important to sell these goods. The significant role of sales activities in the enterprise management requires searching for new methods of improvement, one of which is the revision of existing and the development of new optimal distribution channels under conditions of environmental uncertainty. Currently, distribution channels for final products are a complex multi-structure system with active elements, operating in a dynamically developing market environment. Studies by economists show that the complexity (complexity) of this system is based not on the number of elements, but on the nature of the network structure (the complexity of the structure of the system and the interactions of its components). This article presents a visual analysis of the sales activities of one of the largest Russian confectionery manufacturers - “OOO Lamzur”. For this kind of enterprises, the organization of sales activities is very important in ensuring economic efficiency and achieving high competitive advantages. In the marketing activities of the investigated enterprise, a number of problem areas are identified that impede its development. In the process of analyzing sales activities, a number of shortcomings were noted, the key of which is the loss by the enterprise of such sales functions as establishing feedback with consumers. In the course of the study, the effectiveness of the marketing activities of “OOO Lamzur” was assessed based on the analysis of the dynamics of sales of confectionery products, as well as by interviewing customers.

The appearance of factors was related to the new figure of sedentary merchants. Factors became necessary when a merchant increased the bulk of his operations and when they traded with various countries at a time. Factors living and working abroad were employed by societies, individual merchants or groups of merchants. A genuine agent could alternate his duties as a commissioned agent with his own trading activities. It was usual that apprentices played the role of factors towards the end of their period of apprenticeship. They were sent overseas in order to gain experience and complete their commercial education. An apprentice could not trade for his own without his merchant's permission who, to certain extent, was responsible for the apprentices' actions. The knowledge an agent had about a foreign market used to have an influence on the merchant's decision about which goods should be exported. Factors, apart from writing letters, should keep books of accounts, which implied a knowledge of bookkeeping, foreign currencies and bills of exchange. Foreign trade conditions increased factors' responsibilities and created new representation problems which have no equivalence in other commercial relations of the period.

The paper proposes a methodology for analyzing the system of interaction between an industrial enterprise and customs authorities in the process of carrying out foreign trade activities based on the classification and assessment of the system elements functions for performing customs operations and customs control. Foreign economic activity, which is a set of functions of organizations focused on the foreign market in terms of the chosen foreign economic strategy, as well as the forms and methods of work in foreign markets is considered as one of the key factors in the efficiency of an industrial enterprise. Analysis of the foreign economic activity of an industrial enterprise using the developed methodology will make it possible to determine the optimal and cost-effective options for performing customs operations related to the declaration and release of goods in accordance with the declared customs procedure. The focus on large participants of foreign economic activity, which are industrial enterprises, will allow using the results of the study to reduce non-production costs associated with the implementation of foreign trade activities by these enterprises. We have chosen an enterprise of the metallurgical industry that carries out foreign economic activity in cooperation with the customs authorities of the Russian Federation as the object of the system analysis in this research. At the same time the object of analysis is considered as a unified system that has the main system properties: integrity and divisibility, the presence of significant stable links between the elements of the system, the organization and the hierarchical structure of the system, integrative qualities. The object of the research is a complex-structured system of interactions between industrial enterprises that are participants of foreign economic activity and the customs authorities of the Russian Federation. The schemes of interactions of all elements of the four-level hierarchical structure of the analyzed system are illustrated.

The article is devoted to the statistical analysis of the trends of foreign economic activity of Ukraine, in particular, the ICT sector. The study identifies and analyzes the most complete and reliable source of world trade statistics – the database of UN Comtrade Database, on the basis of which the foreign trade of the most developed countries of the world and Ukraine in the groups of products and services of the ICT sector is investigated. According to the results of the study, the main changes of the data elements and functions of the UN Comtrade Database have been identified and described. The analysis of the state of the information society was started from the formation of the information base of the Ukrainian trade in services of the ICT services on the basis of Extended Balance of Payments Services (EBOPS), which are related to the specified sector. The collected data analyzed the trade balance of Ukraine in the main types of ICT services exported from Ukraine and imported into Ukraine, as well as the dynamics of export and import of ICT services in Ukraine for 2000-2017, and the corresponding diagrams for visual analysis were constructed. Using the UN Comtrade Database, the annual data on the cost of foreign trade in goods of ICT in Ukraine in 2010-2017 by the codes of the HS 2012 Harmonized Goods Description and Coding System and EBIT 2002 services by ICT were obtained and analyzed. According to the results of the survey, it was found that during the entire period under investigation the trend of increasing the volumes of both export and import of ICT products was noted, although in both cases this tendency was not stable. The negative factors influencing on the development of foreign trade in goods and services of ICT were: unfavorable conditions of external risks for domestic producers, insufficient level of competitiveness of their products, low activity of regions in the foreign market, imperfection of the commodity structure of expo rts and imports. In further research for the main components of export and import of ICT products, it is expedient to analyze monthly information and build appropriate forecasts.

In the immediate post-WWII period, Danish documentary filmmaking was recognised overseas as productive and of high quality. This chapter tells the story of a collaboration between Ministeriernes Filmudvalg and the British Documentary Movement, which resulted in a package or series of five films made for the foreign market and entitled Social Denmark. The British documentarist Arthur Elton was invited to Copenhagen to oversee the production of one or more films which would promote newly-liberated Denmark to the world as a modern, progressive, democratic nation. Elton’s report on the state of Danish documentary and recommendations for its further development is discussed in detail as a snapshot of the state-of-the-art in international informational film production and distribution. Informational filmmaking was regarded in and of itself as a progressive act. The film People’s Holiday (Søren Melson, 1947) is analysed as an example of the Social Denmark films. The impact of conflicting political and aesthetic interests on its production is discussed, as well as the routes by which ‘facts’ emerge as such in the film, and its reception. The role of the auteur Carl Th. Dreyer in the production and promotion of Social Denmark is also considered.
