The concepts of “summary”, “result”, “effect”, “effectiveness and efficiency” are de-grouped. In general, «effectiveness» is a relative indicator characterizing the degree of achievement by the economic entity of the goal in one or more areas and all its economic activity at a certain point in time, that is, it is a cumulative result of the activities of the business entity. While “efficiency” is a relative indicator that characterizes the positive dynamics of the development of a business entity at a certain point in time and is equal to the relative of the result or effect to the costs that caused its receipt. The criteria of efficiency of functioning of the enterprise are considered, namely: effectiveness, introduction of innovations, efficiency, quality of working conditions, product quality. It is noted that the improvement of the efficiency of foreign trade operations is associated with the effectiveness of the use of the company’s assets, its funds, the implementation of investment processes, the achievement of high-quality products, etc. It was emphasized that the smaller the domestic market for the products of this enterprise, the more important it becomes to enter foreign markets. The effectiveness of foreign trade operations depends on the stage of their planning and preliminary preparation for implementation and is evaluated through financial analysis. The following algorithm for assessing the effectiveness of foreign economic activity of the enterprise is presented: preparatory stage; design stage; analytical stage. To evaluate the export activity of the enterprise, it is proposed to use the following indicators: export growth rate, share of sales costs on foreign markets in total sales costs, share of profit from export sales in the total volume of profit from exporter’s sale, profitability of exported products, profitability of sales on the foreign market, competitiveness of products on the foreign market. For the analysis of the export activity of the enterprise in the literature, the following approach is proposed: a preliminary review of general indicators; analysis of the contract portfolio for export deliveries; analysis of the volume of sales of products for export; analysis of capital use in the implementation of export activities; effectiveness of export activities.

The article examines the essence of foreign economic activity of enterprises, the features and prospects of its implementation in the field of agrarian and industrial complex. Based on the conducted analysis, it is proved that agrarian export of Ukraine plays a significant role in the formation of the budget and GDP of the country, since its share in 2018 was 14.2% of GDP and 33.4% of the total national exports of goods. The dynamics of export-import operations of the agrarian sector is explored and it is found that it demonstrates a positive trend in contrast to the general foreign trade balance of Ukraine. The analysis of the agrarian exports structure in 2010-2019 confirms the growth of the share of the majority of agrarian products types sold abroad. However, Ukrainian exports are mainly oriented towards raw materials, which, among other reasons, is associated with technological backwardness and the limited ability of domestic agricultural producers to purchase modern equipment and technologies due to theirs low solvency. The commodity orientation of Ukrainian exports makes the competitive position of Ukraine in foreign markets vulnerable, since the demand for commodities is unstable and is characterized by significant price volatility. The geographical structure of foreign trade in agrarian products and the possibilities of its further diversification are investigated. The majority of Ukrainian products in Europe are purchased in Poland, Italy and Germany. Significant connoisseurs of Ukrainian products are also Turkey, China, India, Egypt. Ukrainian exports should be expanded to Asian and Eastern countries. The key problems that put the brakes on the development of the foreign economic activity of the enterprises of agrarian and industrial complex and hinder the competitiveness increase of domestic agrarian products in the international market are identified. A number of measures are proposed to promote the further development of the foreign economic activity of the enterprises of agrarian and industrial complex, including the development of appropriate strategies taking into account global market trends, harmonization and compliance with the quality and safety standards of agrarian products, improving the innovative component, strengthening state support (including financial) of the export-oriented agrarian enterprises, improving the investment climate, and more.

Currently, the importance of foreign economic activity for the enterprise cannot be underestimated. Kazakhstani enterprises cannot consider the foreign market only as another sales market, because there are qualitative differences in the development and condition of domestic and foreign markets, characteristic of all developing countries. When the domestic market lags behind in its development (including the level of products) and infrastructure from foreign markets, foreign economic activity can have the greatest impact on the growth and development of the enterprise. For effective foreign economic activity, an enterprise must have high levels of management, knowledge and competencies of personnel, the quality of resources used, etc. Moreover, it becomes possible and necessary to manage the level of these characteristics, and, consequently, the efficiency of foreign economic activity and the efficiency of the enterprise's development through the choice of the host country. Thus, foreign economic activity occupies a special place in the production and economic activity of any enterprise.

The negative factors influencing on the development of foreign trade in goods and services of ICT were: unfavorable conditions of external risks for domestic producers, insufficient level of competitiveness of their products, low activity of regions in the foreign market, imperfection of the commodity structure of expo rts and imports. At the present stage of market relations, competition plays an extremely important role not only as a major factor in the development of individual enterprises, but also entire countries. The rapid processes of globalization make it possible to expand markets, but not every company can compete with other firms in foreign markets. The article examines the concepts of “competition” and “competitiveness of the enterprise” in foreign markets. Since today in the modern world competition is the driving force of any economy, without it the existence and development of the economy in general is impossible. The success of any business depends on the ability to compete in the market of goods or services. In the period of globalization and integration in the international space, the formation of a rational sequence of planning such activities is becoming increasingly important for enterprises engaged in foreign economic activity. This type of management activity contributes to obtaining additional profits through the use of the benefits of international labor and international integration, as well as identifying prospects and possible options for the development of foreign economic activity of organizations. That is why the technology of foreign economic activity planning is becoming especially relevant today. The article considers the factors influencing the planning of foreign economic activity of the enterprise, investigates the theoretical foundations of planning, suggests ways to improve the planning of foreign economic activity of the enterprise to increase competitiveness. The company’s success in the domestic or global market is its competitiveness, and as a result there is stability in the market. Competitiveness is the ability of an enterprise to conduct a fair competition in the chosen market, using all its resources productively, and as a result to make a profit. If the company occupies a leading position in the competitive market, then its product is in demand from consumers and has some advantages over the products of competitors. Managing the competitiveness of the enterprise is partly a function of general management, the purpose of which is to ensure the viability and sustainable operation of the enterprise in the event of any changes in the external environment. International competitiveness is the achievement by an enterprise of competitive advantages in competition on the international market. The study of competitiveness revealed its factors that influence the planning of imports. Internal factors depend on the nature of the enterprise, while external – on the state of the environment. Thus, successful foreign economic activity is determined by the optimal organizational structure of the department of foreign economic activity, coordination of all departments and specialists who provide export-import operations of the enterprise.
