Kata kunci: kadar LDL serum, kadar HDL serum, ibu hamil aterm, berat lahir bayiAbstractMany studies proved that the transferring of cholesterol from mother to fetus through the trophoblastic layer carried LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) and HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) particles. Uptake and usage of LDL by placenta to the fetus is an alternative mechanism to obtain fatty acids and essential amino acids. The objective of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between LDL and HDL serum level of pregnant women at term with infant birth weight. This study was an observational study with cross sectional design. Examination of LDL and HDL serum level to 31 term pregnancy sample choose by consecutive sampling, and then infant’s birth weight was counted within 1 hour after birth without clothes. The data analyzed with Pearson correlation statistical test followed by simple linier regression statistical test. The mean of LDL serum level term pregnancy was 138,52±37,86mg/dlwith7 samples(22.60%) in LDL levels<101 mg/dl. The mean of HDL serum level at term pregnancy was 53,32±17,39 mg/dlwith 13 samples (41,90%) in HDL levels<48 mg/dl. The mean of infant birth weight was 3150,00±489,89 grams with 2 samples (6,50%) had infants weighing < 2500 grams. There is a positive relationship between LDL serum levels term pregnancy with birth weight infants, the strength of the relationship is weak (r =0,258), were not significant statistically (p=0,161). There is a positive relationship between HDL serum levels at term pregnancy with birth weight infants, the strength ofthe relationshipis veryweak(r =0,035), were not significant statistically (p=0,850). In conclusion there was no correlation of serum levels of LDL and HDL at term pregnant with birth weight.

Objective: To estimate the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in an asymptomatic population in the state of Sergipe, Brazil. Methods: This cross-sectional study with stratified sampling (sex and age) includeD serological immunofluorescent tests for IgM and IgG on samples from 3 046 asymptomatic individuals. Sample collection was performed in wet-markets of the 10 most populous cities of Sergipe, Brazil. Exclusion criteria included symptomatic individuals and health workers. The presence of comorbidities was registered. Results: Of the 3 046 participants, 1 577 (51.8%) were female and 1 469 (48.2%) were male; the mean age was 39.76 (SD 16.83) years old. 2 921 tests were considered valid for IgM and 2 635 for IgG. Of the valid samples, 347 (11.9% [CI 10.7%–13.1%]) tested positive for IgM and 218 (8.3% CI 7.2%–9.4%]) tested positive for IgG. Women over 40 had the highest prevalence for IgM (group C, p=0.006; group D p=0.04). The capital Aracaju displayed the highest prevalence for both antibodies; 83 (26.3% [CI 21.6%-31.6%]) tested positive for IgM and 35 (14.6% [CI 10.4%-19.7%]) for IgG. The most prevalent comorbidities were hypertension (64/123 individuals) and diabetes (29/123). Conclusions: A high prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies was found among asymptomatic persons in Sergipe. Women over 40 showed the highest rates. The capital, Aracaju, displayed the highest seroprevalence. Surveys like this one are important to understand how the virus spreads and to help authorities to plan measures to control it. Repeated serologic testing are required to track the progress of the epidemic.

Introduction: Self-control and self-effi cacy are necessary for would-be mothers to enhance their birth labor satisfaction. This research was conducted in Ratu Zalecha public hospital in Martapura and in Banjarbaru public hospital in South Borneo with the aim to identify the relationship between self-control and self effi cacy on the one hand, and birth labor satisfaction on the other hand. Method: Cross-sectional approach with correlative analysis was applied for this research, using 125 samples chosen from normal childbirth using consecutive sampling techniques. Result: The result of Chi-Square correlation test showed that there were some relationships between self-control as well as self-effi cacy and birth labor satisfaction (ρ value 0.002,α: 0.05) and (ρ value 0.000, α: 0.05). There were four variables resulted from double logistic analytical regression that play signifi cant roles in birth labor satisfaction, i.e., self-control, self-effi cacy, family income, and parity. Discussion: The most infl uencing variable in birth labor satisfaction was family income. Labor carers should provide enough support so that would-be mothers can view the process of childbirth as a positive and pleasant experience; hence, birth labor satisfaction will surely be tremendous. Keywords: birth labor satisfaction, self-control, self-effi cacy

Background. Analytical variability in CD4 enumeration is well known, but few studies from southern Africa have quantified the inter- and intra-laboratory variability in CD4 count measurements. In addition, the possible impact of time lapse after sample collection on CD4 reliability is not well understood. Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted at Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation Hospital and three laboratories, Lab A (comparator), Lab B (national reference) and Lab C (rural hospital). Blood from HIV-infected individuals was collected using routine venepuncture into separate specimens for each of the three laboratories. The samples were further subdivided at each laboratory: one was run at 12 hours and the second at 24 hours after venepuncture. The results of absolute CD4 count and CD4 percentage testing were compared within (intra-laboratory) and between (inter-laboratory) laboratories. Results. Among 53 participants, the mean CD4 count at 12 hours was 373 cells/μl, 396 cells/μl and 439 cells/μl, and at 24 hours 359 cells/μl, 389 cells/ μl and 431 cells/μl, for laboratories A, B and C, respectively. The coefficient of intra-laboratory variation was 4%, 8% and 20% for CD4 count for laboratories A, B and C, respectively. Comparing 12- and 24-hour measurements, the mean difference (bias) within the laboratories between the two time points (and limits of agreement, LOAs) was 14 (-46 to 73), 8 (-161 to 177) and 7 (20 to 33) cells/μl for labs A, B and C, respectively. Comparing Lab A versus Lab B, lab A versus Lab C and Lab B versus Lab C, the inter-laboratory bias for the CD4 count at 12 hours was -32, -64 and -38 cells/μl, respectively. The corresponding LOAs were -213 to 150, -183 to 55, and -300 to 224, respectively. At 24 hours, the biases and LOAs were similar to those at 12 hours. Conclusions. CD4 counts appeared reliable at all three laboratories. Lab B and Lab C were clinically interchangeable with the comparator laboratory, Lab A, but not between themselves. Time to measurement does not affect the interlaboratory agreement within 12 and 24 hours. S Afr J HIV Med 2012;13(2):59-63.

Objective: Undifferentiated abdominal pain in children is a common presentation to Emergency Department (ED). Diagnostic imaging, in particular, ultrasound, in addition to laboratory tests is often used in this cohort. This study aims to assess the utility of ultrasound in suspected appendicitis in management options. Methods: A 5-year retrospective cross-sectional data analysis of children under the age of 16 presented to Monash Health EDs with abdominal pain between June 2014 and June 2019 was conducted. Among 271934 (total) presentations, 20934 presented with abdominal pain (traumatic and non-traumatic) and 1131 patients were highly suspected for appendicitis who were investigated in ED or hospitalised for ongoing investigation and management. Results: 162 (14.3%; 95% CI, 12.3-16.4) patients had ultrasound findings suggestive of appendicitis, with a further 147 (13.0%; 95% CI, 11.0-15.0) admitted to paediatric surgical ward. 111 (9.81%; 95% CI, 8.1-11.5) patients subsequent underwent diagnostic laparoscopy during their admission which 109 (9.63%; 95% CI, 7.9- 11.4) confirmed intraoperative appendicitis. The mean appendix size difference in patients discharged vs admitted and cases that underwent diagnostic laparoscopy vs conservative management were 0.576mm (95% CI, -1.16-2.32). and 0.217 (95% CI, -1.03-1.47) respectively. Given that the P values of the differences are 0.513 and 0.732 respectively (P>0.05), the results are not statistically significant. Conclusions: The appendix size on ultrasound did not show any correlation with the actual pathology or management option. Clinical picture and clinician’s judgement were the main factors in determining management.
