Smile being one of the aesthetic parameters most required by patients, dentists tend to evaluate it, among other factors, according to the amount of gingiva that the patient shows when smiling. This smile can be classified as high, medium and low. For correct interpretation and good diagnosis should also be analyzed soft tissue, such as the periodontal biotype, it can be thin and thick. The reason for our investigation is to observe the relationship between the type of smile and the periodontal biotype. The cross-sectional analytical study was performed on 100 UCSG dental students, randomly selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The type of smile was determined, whether it was high, medium or low. The periodontal biotype was determined by two methods: the visual, in which the clinical characteristics of each were analyzed, and by the transparency or not of the probe, through the gingival sulcus in the teeth 11, 12 and 13.  Were analyzed 100 subjects, 33 men and 67 women.  27% of the total of the subjects had high smile, 65% showed average smile and the 8 % low smile. 70% showed to have thick biotype while 30% remaining fine biotype. When relating the two variables, of high smile 15%=thin biotype and 85%=thick biotype, of low smile 25%=thin biotype and 75%=thick biotype and of low smile 37%=thin biotype and 63%=thick biotype.

The dental eruption is a physiological process that is divided into two phases: active and passive. An alteration in the passive phase  will result in an altered passive eruption (EPA), which would be defined as the interruption of the apical migration of the margin of the gingiva, where it moves away from the amelocementary limit. This can be classified into 2 groups and 2 subgroups: 1A, 1B, 2A and 2B. Its importance lies in its diagnosis and treatment, since it is responsible for a large part of the consultations for restorative treatments due to the alterations that can produce in the aesthetics of the smile due to its clinical signs: short teeth, absence of gingival scallopings, and gingival smile Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive and analytical study where 100 UCSG odontology students were randomly selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The prevalence of altered passive eruption and its types was determined by the T Bar, a periodontal probe and periapical radiographs. Results: 100 subjects, 35 men and 65 women were analyzed. 16% of the subjects had EPA, of which 19% 1A and 81% 1B. The prevalence of high smile in people with short teeth was 37.5% and 31.25% in middle and low smiles. The variables of ethnicity and genetics were irrelevant. The EPA had a low prevalence of 16%, being more prevalent in women. I had no direct relation to the type of smile.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the relationship between BMI and tooth decay in a population of Iranian children. In this cross-sectional descriptive/analytical study, 1482 children were selected from kindergartens and preschool centers in Kerman, Iran. The children underwent examination of deciduous teeth (using the dmft index) after determination of height and weight for calculation of BMI. The relationship between BMI (after adjustment for age) and dmft was determined using Poisson’s regression model. The mean of dmft in children with normal BMI was 1.5-fold that in subjects with extra body weight. Age had a significant effect on dmft. In addition, dmft was higher in boys compared to girls. The results of the present study showed that caries rate in the deciduous teeth of 3–6-year-old children decreases with an increase in body weight.

Background: Anemia is a public health nutritional problem, especially for pregnant women. Anemia in pregnancy can adversely affect the morbidity and mortality of both mother and baby. According to the WHO, the prevalence of anemia in Indonesia was 40.5% in 2015, and 42% in 2016. One of the government's efforts to reduce the rate of anemia is the provision of iron tablets. In Indonesia, the coverage of giving at least 90 tablets during pregnancy in 2017 reached 80.81%. However, in Maluku Province, the coverage of iron supplementation (47.35%) was included amongst the four lowest provinces. This study aims to examine the relationship between pregnant women's knowledge and consumption of iron tablets and anemia in the Districts of South Leitimur and Teluk Ambon. Methods: This research is an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects of this study were 165 pregnant women who were taken by purposive sampling.Result: The results showed 50.3% of pregnant women had anemia and only 21.8% complied with taking iron tablets. We found that there was no statistically significant association between pregnant women's knowledge of iron supplementation (p=0.443), as well as compliance with taking iron supplements (p=0.135), and anemia. Nevertheless, the percentage of women with anemia was lower in pregnant women who complied with taking iron supplements than those who did not comply. Conclusion : This study shows that efforts are still required to reduce the prevalence of anemia in Ambon City, including increasing women's compliance to take iron tablets.

Back pain in children is a reality and various factors are involved in its etiology. The study’s aim was to analyze the relationship between the use and type of backpack and pain in children. An analytical observational cross-sectional study was conducted among 123 schoolchildren between 8–10 years. Data on the participants’ weight and height and their backpacks were collected, as well as the way of travel to school and their physical activity during the week. The results indicated that all backpacks were large because the backpack’s height is longer than torso length. Participants who studied in a traditional educational system (62.60%) carried backpacks that exceeded 10% of their body weight. Additionally, 31.7% of the students presented pain. There is no significant correlation between the weight or type of backpack and the pressure pain threshold collected from shoulders muscles. Participants who carried backpacks heavier than 10% of their body weight did not have more musculoskeletal pain or a lower pressure pain threshold than the others, although they did report greater fatigue. All these topics should be debated considering the student’s social environment and the backpack’s discomfort to the children, even though no relationship was found between musculoskeletal pain and backpack weight.
