The article presents an analysis of mental regulators of fly-in-fly-out personnel in diamond mining in the Far North. The study involved 70 fly-in-fly-out workers operating in the diamond mining in Far North. In our study, we relied on the concept of E. A. Klimov, who distinguished three groups of mental regulators of labor: representation of labor object, representation of labor subject, subject-object and subject-subject relations. Research methods are psychophysiological and psychological testing aimed at the diagnosis of mental regulators of labor, as well as questionnaires and projective methods for a qualitative study of mental regulators of labor. We have developed a questionnaire, which included such parameters as the assessment of comfort/discomfort of climatic and geographical, industrial and social conditions; assessment of the degree of danger of various professional situations that may arise during a fly-in; self-assessment of oneself as a professional, one’s professional skills, knowledge and adherence to safety precautions, personal qualities, job satisfaction, “price” of activity. We also developed a method of unfinished sentences. We conducted a content analysis of the results of the method of unfinished sentences, where we identified categories and subcategories related to the representation of labor object, representation of labor subject, subject-object and subject-subject relations. Statistical processing was carried out using multidimensional methods. As a result of the study, the peculiarities of the mental regulators of labor of fly-in-fly-out workers in diamond mining were identified, which must be taken into account when developing more targeted programs for supporting fly-in-fly-out work and selecting personnel in mining companies.

The article examines the legal and moral and ethical aspects of a misdemeanor that discredits the honor of an employee of the criminal Executive system. The considered reason for dismissal has the main feature associated with the integration of legal and moral norms, which often raises a lot of questions about the attribution of a particular offense to this basis. Using the analysis of normative legal acts, the authors attempt to identify the signs that contribute to the separation of the studied grounds for dismissal from all their diversity. The classification of offenses that discredit the honor of an employee of the criminal Executive system is presented, which allows to systematize and organize the knowledge obtained about the considered grounds for dismissal. The analysis of a misdemeanor that defames the honor of an employee of the penal system from a moral and ethical position gives an understanding, first of all, that it does not have a clear regulation from the point of view of the law, but the consequences of committing such a misdemeanor are clearly legal. The concepts of “honor” and “dignity” are considered as ethical categories and are analyzed as personal qualities that are manifested in an employee of the penal correction system during the period of service. These categories in the behavior of a person or employee are manifested both externally (assessment from the outside) and internally (self-assessment). The article describes the value orientation of an employee of the criminal Executive system to ethical standards in professional activity, which is an integral part of the moral and ethical side of a misdemeanor that discredits the honor of an employee.

The purpose of the article is to consider the competence capabilities of MFC specialists that require structuring in a professional standard, aimed at increasing satisfaction with the implemented policy of providing public services to the population. The article focuses on the results of a survey of MFC employees, aimed at determining the factors that, according to respondents, form the professional standard of a specialist in a multifunctional center. The authors believe that structuring of a professional standard can act as an innovative mechanism for shaping public opinion in politics. Public opinion, aimed at assessing the quality of interaction with the authorities and the provision of services to the population, can not only reflect the massive satisfaction of the needs of the population, but also take into account the point of view of the current employees of multifunctional centers. Using the self-assessment methodology in the context of an “inside look”, MFC specialists objectively assess their own competence capabilities; identify professional problems, gaps, weaknesses, which should be addressed by additional professional education. In the first part of the article, the authors analyze various mechanisms for shaping public opinion that are often used in modern political science. The second part of the article presents the results of a survey of current MFC employees. Based on the analysis of the survey results, the criteria for the professional standard of an MFC specialist were formed, which include: 1) awareness, that is, understanding the need to implement a professional standard; 2) the range of the most significant competencies of an MFC specialist; 3) a system of individual and personal qualities that form the professional efficiency of employees.

This study sought to evaluate the impact of the Indigenisation Policy on the socio-economic emancipation of rural communities in Zimbabwe. A case study approach was taken focusing on the Marange and Zimunya communities in Manicaland Province of Zimbabwe, where diamonds are being mined. Both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies were applied to get a balanced view from these two communities on their socio-economic improvement because of the mining of diamonds, which are a valuable natural resource found in these two communities. Purposive sampling was applied to come up with the sample of senior politicians and traditional leaders. Two Focus groups were formed in the two communities. The study established that the five diamond mining companies doing business in the two communities had failed to honour their pledges of contributing USD10 million each towards the development of the two communities. Only USD400 000 was contributed by two mining companies at the time of the study. Ninety five percent (95%) of the respondents reported that there were no projects that were being implemented to benefit the local communities. It was therefore, concluded that there was limited socio-economic empowerment of the Marange-Zimunya communities by the diamond mining companies. The study recommended the intervention by the Government in order for these mining companies to honour their pledges by coming up with empowerment projects and also by allowing the two communities to have shares in these companies so that they could be economically empowered.

This paper studies the relationship between civil war and the value of firms in a poor, resource-abundant country using microeconomic data for Angola. We focus on diamond mining firms and conduct an event study on the sudden end of the conflict, marked by the death of the rebel movement leader in 2002. We find that the stock market perceived this event as “bad news” rather than “good news” for companies holding concessions in Angola, as their abnormal returns declined by 4 percentage points. The event had no effect on a control portfolio of otherwise similar diamond mining companies. This finding is corroborated by other events and by the adoption of alternative methodologies. We interpret our findings in light of conflict-generated entry barriers, government bargaining power, and transparency in the licensing process. (JEL D74, G32, O13, O17, Q34)

The purpose of empirical research is to establish the relationship of functional-role positions (ego-states) with other indicators of future professionals ’independence to establish the level of manifestation of functional ego-states. The investigation contemplated methods are projective methods, psychodiagnostic methods with valid scales, author’s method “Indirect self-assessment of independence” (“ISI”) and the author’s questionnaire “Persuasion in independence” (“PII”). The results indicated that the most important for the respondents the value of independence, the more they are focused on taking into account the actual possibilities and autonomous action on the basis of objective data (ego-state “Adult”), as well as control, management, criticism of other people (ego-state “Parent-controller”). Therefore, the more autonomous respondents, the less interdependent they are, and vice versa.

Learning by integrating different topics from one subject to another helps students build a complete image of the topic they are working on and makes the learning process effective and meaningful. The theme „The Bulgarian revival and the road to immortality“ is suitable for conducting an interdisciplinary lesson, which overlaps these subjects: Bulgarian language, history, music, fine arts and information technologies. Through the time machine, the seventh-graders from our school found themselves in a revival café, where they witnessed an interview with Dobri Chintulov, Kiro Tuleshkov and Ivan Vazov. Touching on these personalities, the students easily understood and interpreted questions related to the changes that occurred in Bulgarian society in the renaissance era, the change of the ordinary Bulgarian and the main directions in which the Bulgarian renaissance developed. In pertinent moments they sang Renaissance songs, with brush and paints recreated they images of Bulgarian Revivals. Their appreciation for those personalities who worked with all their dedication to resurrect the Bulgarian and led it to new heights was felt. The preferred method is suitable because it develops teamwork skills, self-assessment and self-knowledge, improves their communication skills, builds their personal qualities, which is a huge advantage compared to the classical form of training.
