The Demand Side for Development of E-Government Services and Gateway in Turkey

Representing the co-authors’ academic and practitioner background, this chapter provides the most-up-to-date information for an ongoing work on citizen-oriented e-government initiatives. The purpose of this work follows the importance, priority, and necessity of paying attention to citizen side, and aims to improve understanding and better address the citizen demands and expectations towards e-government public transformation. The research aims to question and understand better what citizens think regarding the currently available e-government services in Turkey. In response to this purpose and question, this work-in-progress chapter presents secondary information from literature review and context of the ongoing practical and academic works, and primary findings from both a preliminary and a recent study. These presented information and findings mostly represent practitioners’ viewpoint that is mostly based on the authors’ professional, academic, and personal involvement in the various aspects of the Turkey case, and in return are expected to provide certain input for the on-going practical affairs. As the research is a work-in-progress that traces long-lasting development and ongoing operations of e-government in practice, at this point, providing some suggestions and directions rather than concrete practical and theoretical implications is considered to have the most value. As a result, security, trust, ease of use, service, and information quality are determined to be significant for citizens’ perceptions and suggestions as factors that affect their usage of e-government services in Turkey. The resulting chapter first provides a relevant literature review then information about the history and latest developments in e-government from the perspective of citizen side. Following this background information, the preliminary descriptive study on citizen perceptions of demands and expectations conducted last year is reminded. Build upon these ongoing researches on the academic and practical side, latest research findings as a result of analysing citizens suggestions for E-Government Gateway (EGG) in Turkey are also shared. Finally, suggestions for future based on latest work are given.

Many developing countries are facing difficulties in applying successful electronic government (e-government) projects. A major part of these difficulties that they are not used by citizens due to the lack of appropriate ICT infrastructure that support e-government services; in addition to the existence of a small percentage of citizens who are able to deal with such technology. This chapter introduces an empirical research that closely investigates the e-government weaknesses in developing countries from two major perspectives: e-readiness and trust. The research proposes a model based on e-readiness assessments and relevant literature that investigates the impact of citizens’ readiness for e-government (CREG) on e-government success within developing countries. The model was tested on the Egyptian e-government project as a sample of developing countries. The research findings confirmed the importance of the CREG model to achieve successful e-government projects in developing countries.

Despite increasing investment by governments globally, citizens in some countries are less willing to engage with e-government innovations. While previous studies have examined what might encourage citizens to adopt e-government services more broadly, further research is required to understand those factors that impede or enable e government adoption in countries that have, or are in the process of, transitioning to democratic self-rule. This study is the first to investigate citizen attitudes to e-government adoption in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and thus provides insight into the factors affecting the adoption of e-government within an emerging democratic state. This study also distinguishes between two types of e-government services; informational and transactional. Thus a research model with two elements is developed and tested; one for intention to use informational e government and one for intention to use transactional e-government. Data were collected through a survey administered to university students and non-academic employees in Arbil the capital city of Kurdistan, and analysed using structural equation modelling. Perceived usefulness, social influence, trust in government and perceived risk were found to be significantly and directly associated with the intention to use both kinds of e-government services. However perceptions of ease of use, information quality and trust in the Internet were not significant.

Country branding is a systematic process of organising the country's actions, behaviour, investments, innovations, and communications to achieve a desirable reputation. On the other hand, the country image represents the stereotyping of a country that does not always represent its identity, and that is the case of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Despite KSA's achievements, especially after the 2030 ambitious vision, it is mostly perceived as an oil-producing country. Therefore, this study aims to: review the concept of country image, identity, and branding examples, as well as evaluate the KSA current brand based on secondary information. The author uses a relevant literature review to explore the topic. This paper finds (1) a lack of a strategic plan, studies, and suggest the establishment of branding authority in KSA. (2) Branding KSA is highly essential for two reasons: First, Branding will help KSA to highlight the 2030 vision successes and extend its image beyond the traditional perception. Second, branding is significant, especially with the current competition between countries. Professionally-oriented competence is one of the essential components of students' professional competence. Today, it is a great demand for specialists to sufficiently owning a foreign language to implement the professional activity in a foreign-language sphere. In this context, special attention should be paid for the formation of this competence of students of non-linguistic specialties. The research focuses on considering the effective ways of forming of professionally-oriented competence of students of non-linguistic specialties. One of the possible ways of managing with it is the usage of modern digital technologies, including Web 2.0 in teaching Professionally-oriented foreign language course. The research methods consisted of relevant literature review on this topic and a survey. The research findings present that students highly appreciate using digital technologies while studying the course and confirm its practice-oriented nature. This research recommends effective use of digital technologies for successfully forming of professionally-oriented competence of students of non-linguistic specialties

Literature review is a preparatory work that enables a researcher to take up motivating future research. Literature review often makes a researcher an expert specialist of specific subject. Literature review is not just a report that summaries articles or books but it provides a description, summary as well as the critical evaluation of a scholarly work. The purpose of literature review is to provide background information, to establish importance, to demonstrate reliability and to carve out a space for further addition to research. Review of the literature is very essential and important for the proposed research writing. It’s always helpful for the researcher throughout his research work. Without surveying the relevant literature, no one can identify the research problem. So review of literature is the backbone of the research problem. Most of the other elements of the proposal are related with it. Reviewing the literature provides the guideline to the researcher to complete his proposed research oriented studies. Research is a process of knowing causes and effects of the events. Research is essential to know the fact; because seeing, hearing and feeling may be different than the reality. Knowing from such activities does not have the proof and such knowledge would not be believable to the others. But the knowledge gained from a researcher is proved by evidences and that is believed by others. Such work is known as a scientific research and it provides us reliability, authenticity and validity of the relevant social phenomenon.

This writing is done to determine the effect of information quality and service quality on attitudes in the use of application systems with the ease of use of the system as an intervining variable in online transportation services (gojek) in Yogyakarta. The sample in this study is customers who use online motorcycle transportation services in Yogyakarta. The sampling technique uses accidental sampling technique. Data collection is done by distributing online questionnaires through the Goegle form and distributed with social media such as WhatsApp and Instagram on a 1-4 scale to measure 4 indicators. The results of this study show 1) the quality of information affects the ease of use, 2) the quality of service affects the ease of use, 3) the quality of information influences attitudes in use, 4) the quality of services does not affect attitudes in use, and 5) ease of use attitude in use.

Abstract The study was set to examine the differences between religion and religiosity and to explore how communities can be protected against religious violence. The study also intended to investigate the motives and the effect that religious violence has had throughout history. The study employed the qualitative research method whereby the researcher carried out a meta-analysis synthesis of different research findings to make conclusions and implications that could answer the study questions. Using the literature review they conducted, the researchers carried out data collection. As such, the researcher employed the bottom-up approach to identify the problem and the questions along with the investigation framework of what they decided to explore. The findings of the study revealed that religious backgrounds should be the cornerstone to realize the diff erence between religion and religiosity. Religion is of divine origin whereas religiosity is specifically a humanistic approach and a behavioral model. The religious violence phenomenon is formed by interlocking factors such as the interpretation of religious texts which clearly adopt thoughts and heritage full of violence camouflaged by religion. It is recommended that governments use a strong strategy employing the educational system, summits and dialogs to successfully overcome religious violence. The summits on religion should result in starting a dialog that ensures acceptance of the different religions.

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between school administrators’ transformational leadership behaviours and teachers’ perceptions of organizational justice. The sample of the study consists of 170 teachers working in high schools in Elazığ city center. In the study, the Transformational Leadership Scale was used to determine whether school administrators exhibit transformational leadership behaviours, and the Organizational Justice Scale was used to determine teachers' perceptions of organizational justice. Pearson moment two-correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis techniques were used in the analysis of the data. According to the research findings, it was observed that school administrators frequently exhibited transformational leadership behaviours and teachers' perceptions of organizational justice were at the level of “I agree”. In general, moderate, positive and significant relationships were found between transformational leadership and organizational justice. According to the results of the regression analysis, it was determined that the idealized influence dimension of transformational leadership positively and significantly predicted the formal procedures dimension of the organizational justice scale, and also idealized influence and individualized consideration dimensions of transformational leadership positively and significantly predicted the interactional justice dimension of the organizational justice scale. The research results were discussed in the relevant literature and recommendations were made.

There are thousands of mobile apps delivering information and offering support and intervention in situations of daily life. The aim of this study was to identify the current state of apps for depressive symptoms or prevention of depression within the official Android and iOS app stores in Japan. The 47 apps for depression available for download from the app stores were evaluated by the App Evaluation Model regarding background information, risk/ privacy and security, evidence, ease of use, and interoperability. Also, we evaluated their primary purpose, technology components, and cognitive-behavioral therapy components. The results suggest that in general few apps have been developed that are evidence-based, secure, and provide the services that users expect. In the future, it will be necessary to develop a framework for developing and disseminating more effective apps. This study is the first review of apps for depression available in Japan and seeks to help create a framework for such apps.
