The purpose of this chapter is to extend the research on determinants of entrepreneurial intentions in the agricultural industry by using the theoretical framework of determinants of entrepreneurial intentions and entrepreneurial event model. By employing the DEI and EEM, the researchers evaluate how perceived desirability, perceived feasibility, individual background, and triggering events can influence the attitude of an individual and in turn how entrepreneurial attitude can control entrepreneurial intentions. To achieve the objective, a questionnaire survey was held using the sample of 335 PhD, master, and bachelor students in commerce, business, and economics from an Indian central university. The data was analysed using a linear regression model. The findings advocate that perceived desirability, perceived feasibility, individual background, and triggering events are positively related to entrepreneurial attitude, and the entrepreneurial attitude positively and significantly influences entrepreneurial intentions in the agricultural sector.

Drawing on the entrepreneurial event model, we examined the role of perceived desirability and perceived feasibility and their interaction in university scholars' entrepreneurial intentions, with data from 252 Chinese academic entrepreneurs. Results showed that perceived feasibility only had a significant effect on scholars' entrepreneurial intentions formation. Further, the moderating effect of external environmental support brought about an interactive mechanism between perceived desirability and perceived feasibility: When perceived desirability was low, perceived feasibility played a more significant role in entrepreneurial intentions formation, and vice versa. Theoretical contributions and practical implications are discussed.

This research studied the relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention of university students. Following original research by Zhang, Duysters, Cloodt (2014), Ajzen's theory of planned behavior and Shapero's entrepreneurial event model would be incorporated to identify the effect of exogenous variables such as entrepreneurship education, prior entrepreneurial exposure, perceived desirability and feasibility towards entrepreneurial intention in university students. Furthermore, this study aimed to investigate the selection hypothesis of entrepreneurship education for entrepreneurial intentions. Lastly, this study was also proposing to investigate the moderating effect of the teachers and instructors' enthusiasm (Frenzel et al., 2009), pre-educational entrepreneurship intention (Bae et al., 2014), gender (Verheul et al., 2012), as well as the moderating effect of peers in the classroom (Falck et al., 2012). The data would be collected from one of the private and reputable universities in Indonesia in multiple departments with a form of entrepreneurship education. In this study we found that entrepreneurship education does shape entrepreneurial intention. Students with pre-educational entrepreneurial intention would be more likely to have higher entrepreneurial intention. We also learned that there’s a strong relationship between social influence of classmates and entrepreneurial intention. In addition, we found that male and female students have a different perspective about entrepreneurship education that affected their entrepreneurial intention.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to study the influence of entrepreneurial attributes, subjective norms and perceived desirability on entrepreneurial intentions. Design/methodology/approach – The data were collected from the business students of the Quaid-i-Azam School of Management Sciences, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. In total, 200 questionnaires were circulated among students of which, 185 were returned, representing 92.5 per cent response rate. After discarding incomplete and biased questionnaires, 170 were left for further analysis. The SPSS 20.0 was used to perform statistical analysis. Findings – The research finds that students’ entrepreneurial attitude, perceived desirability and subjective norms significantly lead to the development of students’ intentions to become entrepreneurs. Interestingly, the student’s existing skills and capabilities do not prove to be a significant predictor of their intentions to become entrepreneurs. The study concludes that the students can become successful entrepreneurs even without existing entrepreneurial skills and capabilities, provided that they have the entrepreneurial attitude, desirability and support by the community. Research limitations/implications – Limited sample size is one of the main limitations which confines its generalizability. Nonetheless, this research can create a ripple effect to further explore the factors on a large-scale sample in different cities, universities and countries. Originality/value – In the existing economic crises in the country, developing entrepreneurs is one of the important ways to boost-up financial growth. Students are one of the best potential segments, in this regard, to be developed as potential future entrepreneurs. Research on student’s intentions to become entrepreneurs in Pakistan is limited. This research had added value in both theory and practice by identifying the factors that can develop students’ intentions to become entrepreneurs.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to integrate and extend two models of entrepreneurial intention to investigate the drivers of sustainable entrepreneurial intention among intermediate undergraduate university students in Nigeria. Specifically, this paper aims to introduce education for sustainable entrepreneurship into the integrated model, thereby fitting the model into the context of sustainable entrepreneurship. Design/methodology/approach Data was gathered with the help of a structured questionnaire from 435 students of a university in Nigeria. The students passed through a special entrepreneurship training in which they were educated on the concept and practice of sustainable entrepreneurship. SmartPLS was used to test the proposed structural model. Findings The findings revealed that education for sustainable entrepreneurship significantly influences all variables of the integrated model, but has nonsignificant direct influence on sustainable entrepreneurial intention. Sustainable entrepreneurial intention is significantly driven by attitude and propensity to act. Therefore, the inclusion of education for sustainable entrepreneurship into the regression equation adds to its explanatory power. Originality/value This study contributes toward understanding of sustainable entrepreneurial intention of intermediate university students in a developing world context – Nigeria. Above all, it is among the few studies that shed light on the strength of education for sustainable entrepreneurship in the formation of sustainable entrepreneurial intention among students. This study proposes integration and extension (by adding education for sustainable entrepreneurship) of the theory of planned behavior and entrepreneurial event model in learning about students’ intentions to engage in sustainable entrepreneurship.

English
Qualified human resources with a good commitment to develop agricultural sector is one of the determining factors toward sustainable agricultural development. However, agricultural development deals with significant issue especially reduction in the number of young farmers. This paper aims to review structural changes from perspective of aging farmer and declined number of young farmers in Indonesia and other countries. Specifically, this paper identifies various factors causing the changes and describes the policies needed to support young workers to enter agricultural sector. The method used in this paper is both descriptive analysis and cross tabulation. The results show that aging farmers and young farmers decline in Indonesia keep increasing. The phenomena are also found in other countries in Asia, Europe, America and Australia. Various factors causing lack interest of young workers in agricultural sector, namely less prestigious, high risk, less assurance, unstable earning. Other factors are small size land holding, limited non-agricultural diversification and agricultural processing activities in rural areas, slow farm management succession, and lack of incentive for young farmers. To attract youth to enter agricultural sector, it is necessary to transform youth’s perception that agricultural sector currently is interesting and promising. The government needs to development agricultural industry in rural areas, introduces technology innovation, offers special incentives for young farmers, modernizes agriculture, and conducts training and empowerment of young farmers.

In The Netherlands, agricultural activities are one of the major diffuse sources of nutrients and crop protection chemicals. A national legal and regulatory framework has been developed to combat the environmental burden from the agricultural industry. This resulted in the implementation of a government decree (AMvB) in the year 2000. Under pressure from NGOs, the Hollandse Eilanden en Waarden Water Board worked on a regional regulation in advance of this national legislation. ZHEW followed an approach of research, communication and partnering prior to implementing the national decree. The most important result of the chosen approach is that compliance with one of the most important measures, the crop-free zone, is close to 100%. There has been little improvement in the amount of pesticides in the open waters. Both water board and farmers are positive about the approach followed. Monitoring and evaluation proved to be essential when communicating with the agricultural sector. The results of attempts to influence behaviour must be recorded in order maintain the motivation to change behaviour. Information on the effects of the approach adopted to combating diffuse agricultural sources is gathered from a number of sources.

The article presents indicators of the agricultural industry management system: doing business in a digital and technological transformation from the perspective of an ontological approach. It is important to note that it is impossible to transform under the requirements of the modern world without the introduction of innovation. However, innovation is always marked by financial costs and loss of time, which reduces the innovative activity of organizations in the agricultural sector, and, therefore, determines the diagnosis of innovation and investment policy. Forming an indicative methodology for justifying, measuring and developing the readiness of the agricultural sector’s management system to conduct entrepreneurship in the context of digital and technological transformation from the perspective of an ontological approach is evident as a process of formation and implementation of investment potential to ensure the release of innovative competitive products based on an advanced technology platform.

This study examined the agriculture entrepreneurial intentions (AEIs) of current farmers (n = 1183) in Taiwan and distinguished differences between ≤45- and >45-year-old farmers by applying the theory of planned behaviour with the extension of personality traits. The results determined that the entrepreneurial commitment and communication aspects of entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE) considerably affected the conviction dimension of AEI, whereas entrepreneurial commitment, communication ESE, entrepreneurial attitude, planning ESE, and neuroticism notably influenced the preparation dimension of AEI. Furthermore, the effects of neuroticism on entrepreneurial conviction were weaker in younger farmers than in older farmers, and the effects of entrepreneurial commitment, entrepreneurial attitude, neuroticism, and planning ESE on entrepreneurial preparation in younger farmers were different from those in older farmers. Moreover, length of agricultural engagement exhibited an inverted U-shaped curvilinear relationship with AEIs. The present study contributes to the understanding of how younger farmers’ AEIs can be shaped and how they may cope with the differences they may have compared with older family members.
