The Management of Social Media and the Relationship With the Client From the Perspective of the Managers of Small Hotels in a City in Brazil

With the growth of the tourism sector and increased competition, the hotel industry is directly related to the evolution of the internet as an important communication tool capable of promoting market differentials. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the management of social media of the hotels in the city of Santa Vitória do Palmar, Brazil, as well as to analyze the interaction between the enterprises and their clients. This research had a sample of five hotels, which have demonstrated that they use social media constantly, but this practice is in the initial phase of implementation. It was noticed that the use of social media by the managers of the research sample is carried out with the same knowledge of common users, without deepening it. In order to optimize this practice and consequently for the hotel to be more profitable, the implementation of aspecialized and up-to-date management is necessary.

<p>One of the defining technological forces which are reshaping world today is the easy accessibility to the Internet. The Internet has changed the way people communicate with each other. Social media whose development was first marshaled by Web 2.0, has revolutionized the entire world of communication. The most intriguing fact is that the world of social media is constantly changing. The platforms which are topping the charts today may not be tomorrow. Also, it can be observed that the power has shifted from the hands of marketers to the hands of users which in turn have empowered users. The objective of the present study is to explore the different facets of social media in detail. These facets form the base for the world of social media and can be referred to as the 7 Cs of social media. These seven Cs are - content, community, conversation, capital (social), culture, collaboration, and conversion respectively. With an enhanced understanding of all these Cs of social media, the study proposes a conceptual model depicting the relationship between these seven Cs and social media. Companies should analyze each of these Cs in detail and design their social media strategies accordingly. This will not only assure the efficient and effective use of social media but also will help managers to decide where and how to allot firm resources in a better fashion.</p>

With the increased importance of the Internet and the use of social media, new opportunities and challenges emerge to manage the relationship with audiences and online communities. While the professional world already acknowledged such dynamics, further analysis is needed in the academic scene. A survey conducted in the sports setting shows that the perception of social networks influences athletes' e-reputation. However, the motives for following athletes online have no influence on their e-reputation. Finally, the results highlight that e-reputation is not affected by negative content on the internet. This research has both academic and managerial contributions regarding online reputation and social media.

Social networks are becoming an integral part of people's lives. Students are spending much time on social media and are considered the largest category that uses such application. This study tries to explore the influence of social media use, and especially Facebook, on high school students' performance. The study used the GPA of students in four courses and their responses regarding the use of social media. Statistical analysis is used to infer this relationship and its implications. Results indicated a support of this study aim and the relationship between the different dimensions of Facebook influence on students with respect to the time spent on the Internet and Facebook specifically. Conclusions and future work are stated at the end.

This study aims to test the relationship between the use of social media and the knowledge gap regarding COVID-19 in the Turkish environment. For this purpose of this empirical field, research was carried out throughout Turkey involving a large sample (N= 1033) in an effort to reveal how level of knowledge of social media users in Turkey regarding an issue in a particular question is shaped. The study discusses the data obtained in the field research. The conclusion, contrary to what is expected, emphasizes that social media environment has a particular presence as a communication tool, which closes the knowledge gap and fosters knowledge acquisition.

PurposeStudies show that internet has become a major force propelling growth in tourism sector in many countries. An appropriate diffusion of the information and communication technology (ICT) services can facilitate visibility of hotels and lodges on search sites and third-party booking websites and thus influence demand. It also helps leverage the use of social media for promotion and customer acquisition purposes. Recently, Myanmar, with impressive historical world heritage sites, is witnessing a tourist boom; more hotels are opening up and achieving competitive advantage by offering free internet connectivity to guests and locating their premises in the vicinity of an ICT infrastructure. The purpose of this paper is to investigate ICT readiness to support the lodging industry in Myanmar by focusing on one sub-index of the Network Readiness Index (NRI, a term heavily used by World Economic Forum). The paper focuses on the “Network Use” component of NRI, pertaining to the effect of the “quality of the Internet connection” available to lodges, and its association with the following dimensions: customer service: the availability of ICT services to guests, such as internet connectivity and availability of ATM in the vicinity; digital marketing: the use of social media, keeping records of guests and analyzing aggregate data to extract business insights; and business-to-business online booking: the use of online booking via major third-party intermediary websites like Expedia, Booking.com and Agoda.com.Design/methodology/approachSurveys were conducted in three major touristic cities in Myanmar: Bagan, Mandalay and the capital city, Nay Pyi Taw. A total of 101 valid questionnaires were used. Survey questions were centered around the following themes: internet connection problems, digital marketing activities, and online booking directly or via third party digital intermediary. The data are presented and interpreted by descriptive statistics and regression analysis.FindingsThough, Myanmar is new to internet and commercial use of ICT, the awareness of the importance of leveraging social media and online booking for business development is surprisingly high in the lodging sector. On average, about 80 percent of surveyed hotels are present on the WWW through a dedicated hotel website. However, most websites lack an online booking capability. As a result, and due to a global trend, online booking through third-party intermediaries has become the dominant option for hotel booking arrangements in Myanmar. Agoda, founded in Bangkok in 2002, was found to be the number one choice for online booking intermediary in Myanmar, followed by Booking.com. Analysis of the logistic regression revealed that it was highly likely that areas around ATMs have better internet connectivity. As expected, it was also found that it is very unlikely that hotels reporting a problem in internet connectivity will be able to provide internet service to their guests. Despite the presence of problems in internet connectivity in Mandalay and Bagan cities, located away from the capital; most hotels in these cities resort to leveraging social media for promotion and customer/guest development. The analysis also revealed that cities located away from the capital are more aggressive in leverage online third-booking intermediaries.Research limitations/implicationsWhile researchers were hoping for a higher participation rate in the survey, especially in the city of Mandalay, data collection was challenging, a number of hotels/lodges denied participation. This may have some implications on the generalization of results. However, over 70 and 45 percent of hotels/lodges in the capital city and the ancient city of Bagan, respectively, had participated in the survey.Practical implicationsTourism has a great potential for growth in Myanmar. This research recommends ways to achieve and sustain competitive advantage for the lodging sector, which is vital for tourism.Originality/valueThough a considerable research exists on tourism and the recent advances of the ICT sector in Myanmar, the country’s readiness for the actual usage of the internet for the development of tourism has not been specifically addressed. This paper explores this with compelling research findings useful for policy makers as well as players in the tourism sector.

Abstract. The number of students accessing the internet every year makes any changes that occur in adolescence which can cause certain problems in him. ideally adolescents are able to develop well, not displaying behavior that leads to negative behavior. Narcissists are very self-centered, always emphasize that they are perfect (self-congratulatory), and see their desires and hopes as important things. Self-esteem affects the use of social media in a teenager seen when publishing himself by displaying photos or videos that are considered attractive and tend to be indifferent. This study aims to examine the relationship between narcissistic behavior and self-esteem on the use of Tiktok social media. The sampling technique used is proportioned random sampling, total sample 213 with data collection using a psychological scale. The data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression by showing the results of a positive and significant relationship between narcissistic behavior and self-esteem on the use of TikTok social media with a significance result of 0.000 <0.05 and a calculated F value of 11.027> table 2.14Keywords: (Narcissists, Self-esteem, Tiktok social media)

Social media today is a technology that is connected to the internet, there are many benefits, and now often used by the various micro-market, small or medium units for the goal marketing strategies, especially as a promotion. But unfortunately, until now, social media has not been used by all micro-market places, UMKM (micro traditional market) dumbleg as traditional food in Gondang, Nganjuk. So research is needed on the use of social media as, a means of promoting traditional dumbleg food for consideration strategies of dumbleg producers. The purpose of this study was to 1) analyze the benefits of social media as a means of promotion for producers and consumers of dumblegs traditional food, and 2) to analyze the relationship between social media and the number of dumblegs purchased. The method used is descriptive quantitative with interviews with producers and consumers of dumbleg traditional food, and d ta analysis to determine the relationship between social media and the number of purchases using the chi-square. Research results 1) social media as a means of promotion is very useful for producers and consumers of traditional dumbleg foods, and 2) there is a relation between social media as a means of promotion with the number of purchases of dumbleg traditional food, as evidenced by the results of the chi-square analysis X2 count is greater than X2 table (13.459>12.592) or the sygn value. 0.036<0.05. AbstractIn the past few years, a wave of protest has spread across the world. The particularity of these uprisings lies in the way the Internet is used to support them. Scholars have analyzed these movements as being closely related to a generation that relies on the Internet as a means of organizing themselves as a force of social change. That is, the Internet is seen as a way of promoting the active participation of young people in political issues. Public opinion and the mass media hail the Arab Spring revolutions as movements beneficial to the democratization of oppressive regimes. By contrast, when disobedient movements emerge in democratic countries, they are generally more cautious in evaluating these movements as enriching democracy. This cautious opinion also concerns the use of social media. In this article, the so-called Twitter revolutions are discussed in light of the theories of social psychology that analyze the relationship between disobedience and democracy.

Social media as a communication tool has enabled governments around the world to interact with citizens for customer service, access to information and to direct community involvement needs. The trends around the world show recognition by governments that social media content may constitute records and should be managed accordingly. The literature shows that governments and organisations in other countries, particularly in Europe, have social media policies and strategies to guide the management of social media content, but there is less evidence among African countries. Thus the purpose of this paper is to examine the extent of usage of social media by the Botswana government in order to determine the necessity for the governance of liquid communication. Liquid communication here refers to the type of communication that goes easily back and forth between participants involved through social media. The ARMA principle of availability requires that where there is information governance, an organisation shall maintain its information assets in a manner that ensures their timely, efficient and accurate retrieval. The study adopted a qualitative case study approach where data were collected through documentary reviews and interviews among purposively selected employees of the Botswana government. This study revealed that the Botswana government has been actively using social media platforms to interact with its citizens since 2011 for increased access, usage and awareness of services offered by the government. Nonetheless, the study revealed that the government had no official documentation on the use of social media, and policies and strategies that dealt with the governance of liquid communication. This study recommends the governance of liquid communication to ensure timely, efficient and accurate retrieval when needed for business purposes.
