The whole world is going through an unprecedented health crisis, which has affected all sectors of global economy. In actual context, the tourism industry is particularly affected by COVID-19. In this context, the present chapter focuses on one specific subsector: travel agencies. These companies have not only stopped booking new trips, but also had to cancel bookings made prior to 2020. Therefore, many agencies did not manage to survive, and those that did are struggling. Considering this scenario, the present study aims to characterise the state of the art on this phenomenon – the effects of COVID-19 on travel agencies. To this end, all studies containing the keywords “covid” and “travel agency” published on the Scopus database were retrieved and subjected to a content analysis. The findings reveal a greater use of new technologies and online platforms. Moreover, studies point to a focus on sustainable and inclusive tourism, as well as on so far neglected market segments, as alternatives for recovering this sector.

Nepal is famous destination for international travelers through tour started only after sixties. Nepal within two decades became successful to have it significant position in world tourism scenario. Tourism in Nepal becomes a strong contributor in National economy after it boomed in eighties. It has become important foreign export being major source of foreign exchange. A part from this, it has been contributing in creating direct & indirect employment opportunities. Realizing the importance of tourism sector to uplift national economy, Nepal government has formulated various policies plan, and strategies to develop tourism as sustainable industry. Tourism master plan 1972 was an important step in policy formulation Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) was established in 1999 with the principle of Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the Principle of Public Private Partnership (PPP) approach. Since then, NTB has been marketing "Nepal as an enchanting holiday destination in world tourism market. It has adopted various strategies and undertaken different activities in order to promote Nepal as a must visit destination. We have abundant resources for which the country enjoys competitive advantages. Tourism represent one among such sectors which could rebuild the image of the country bringing back multifaceted benefit to the country and the people at large it also emerged as an exemplary model for the Nepalese economy and represent around 4% to the country GDP and is also a major source of employment, it has developed as an independent sector of the economy heavily involving the Nepalese private sector. Travel agencies are among such private sector wings which are responsible to bring or has contributed to great extent to invite lots of tourist from all over the world. So to great extent promotion of tourism by these travel agencies has direct correlation with the inflow of tourist in Nepal. Today it becomes evident that the financial crisis in Russia, the bankruptcy of tour operators and airline companies, a high degree of terrorist threat in key resorts threaten mass protracted crisis for the entire tourism industry, including for companies engaged in travel agency activities. In times of crisis it is especially important for businesses to be competitive, active and looking for new opportunities to maintain and increase the profitability of the enterprise. Cruises can become the instrument of the current growth in travel agencies. This article analyzes the possibilities of usage of cruise offers to expand the assortment policy of travel agencies. These problems are not adequately reflected in the work of scientists. The scientific works generally deal with issues of development trends of the cruise market, and actively discuss issues of cruise tourism development near Alaska, as well as regional peculiarities of river cruises. To disclose the theme and achieve the goal the author examines the development of cruise companies, conducts the analysis of price offer by regions, seasons and cabin types, compares cruise tour operators, operating on the Russian market, and also indicates the work prospects with each of them through the analysis of the contractual relationship and commission. The relevance of the study caused by a forecast of significant growth in demand for cruise tours among Russian tourists in the coming years against the backdrop of a flexible pricing policy cruise companies and the crisis in mass destinations such as Egypt and Turkey.

ABSTRAK Banyaknya jumlah kunjungan wisatawan di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta menjadi peluang besar bagi pelaku industry pariwisata untuk mengembangkan bisnisnya. Namun demikian dibutuhkan konsistensi dalam pengembangan pengelolaan yang berkesinambungan untuk dapat bertahan dalam persaingan. Hal ini  terkait dengan kreativitas pengelola untuk berinovasi dalam industry wisata agar usaha pariwisatanya diminati masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara jumlah objek wisata, hotel dan biro perjalanan dengan jumlah kunjungan wisatawan ke tujuan wisata di D.I. Yogyakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dengan pendekatan diskriptif kualitatif yang didukung analisis data kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara jumlah hotel dan biro perjalanan dengan jumlah kunjungan wisatawan. Nilai signifikansi mendekati 0,000 pada tingkat probabilitas 5%. Sementara jumlah objek wisata tidak memiliki hubungan erat dengan jumlah kunjungan, namun jenis objek wisata memiliki potensi hubungan terhadap jumlah kunjungan wisatawan. Kata Kunci: Objek Wisata, Hotel, Biro Perjalanan, Kunjungan Wisatawan ABSTRACT The large number of tourist visits in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is a great opportunity for the tourism industry players to develop their business. However, consistency in the development of sustainable management is needed to survive in the competition. This is related to the creativity of managers to innovate in the tourism industry so that their tourism business is in demand by the community. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the number of tourist objects, hotels and travel agencies with the number of tourist visits to tourist destinations in D.I. Yogyakarta. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach supported by quantitative data analysis. The results showed a significant relationship between the number of hotels and travel agencies with the number of tourist visits. The significance value is close to 0.000 at the 5% probability level. While the number of tourist objects does not have a close relationship with the number of visits, the types of attractions have a potential relationship to the number of tourist visits. Keywords: Tourism Object, Hotel, Travel Agency, Tourist Visit

Until recently, travel agents have been the principal intermediary between travel suppliers and consumers, with information as their primary trade. However, changes to information and communication technology (ICT) and the beginning of the internet have the potential to allow travel suppliers and consumers to interact directly. Today, consumer websites that integrate global distribution systems (GDSs) are no longer only an emerging threat but show fierce global competition between travel agencies and tour operators worldwide. Subsequently, one of the most pertinent questions today is how local, small-scale travel agencies respond to these market changes and what practices do they use to maintain their comparative advantage and offer competitive services? However, despite the relevancy of this issue, literature is generally scarce on travel agency strategies to confront the competition of consumer websites. Thus, in order to address this question, this article provides an analysis on the advantages and disadvantages of new technologies are available to travel agencies and strategies and practices that travel agencies can use to compete with websites.

In the Global economy, tourism is one of the most noticeable and growing sectors. This sector plays an important role in boosting a nation’s economy. An increase in tourism flow can bring positive economic outcomes to the nations, especially in gross domestic product GDP. The tourism industry is an engine of economic development and GDP growth. As the number of COVID-19 positive cases increasing day by day, government bound to take this hard decision (lockdown). All international flight have been cancelled and stopped for long days accommodation business, hotels, motels/resort owners, already started to face a countless loss, hotels/motels, restaurant, travel agencies already closed their businesses, thousands of people working in tourism industry have started to become jobless. Already government of Nigeria offered different special packages for recovery and ensuring sustainability of different sector. This study also presents the real scenario of tourism industry during COVID-19 pandemic which will help to know the update knowledge regarding the impacts of COVID-19 in tourism and hospitality industry and to take proper recovery steps.

Travel and tourism in the world is a milestone for the global economy industry today. Tourism is currently standing strong in almost all countries as an industry in their respective countries, including Indonesia. One of the important tourism industry in the implementation of tourism is travel services as tourist facilities required to meet travel. One of the travel services required by tourists is a travel agency. Many travel agents established in the provinces where people often travel potentially that West Java especially in Bandung. In 2011 the number of places of business travels are in Bandung as many as 218. One of the largest travel agency in Bandung is PT. Interlink Tours and Travel. In terms of sales, PT. Interlink Tours and Travel rely more on domestic airline tickets customers in large numbers and repeatedly. In 2011 customers of PT. Interlink Tours and Travel have decreased loyalty. One way PT. Interlink Tours and Travel do to enhance customer loyalty to an airline ticket sales in accordance with the target is to provide quality service to customers with a focus on communication, credibility, security, competence and courtesy. In marketing this is called assurance. Assurance theory used is the theory of the Parasuraman in Ririn Tri Ratnasari (2011:109) and the theory of customer loyalty using the theory Baloglu (2002). The population in this study is the corporate customers of domestic airline tickets in PT. Interlink Tours and Travel Bandung. Sampling technique used is saturated sampling and data analysis technique used is multiple regression. Overview of research on assurance and customer loyalty is in a good position. The results showed simultaneous assurance effect on customer loyalty. However, partially only competence sub variables that influents the loyalty, while the other four sub variables, namely communication, credibility, security and courtesy are no effect on customer loyalty.

Tour operators and travel agencies who produce and sell tourism products under their own labels represent key players among the multiple intermediaries that exist in the tourism industry. This chapter aims to study the direct and indirect effects that the economic crisis has had on these private labels. The economic crisis had a moderate effect on tourism, but it also accelerated a number of changes that had been occurring in the sector. Through the study of the current situation and the one produced in recent years, this chapter develops a series of recommendations for traditional private labels to maintain their income and market position. We ascertained, in particular, that the new information and communications technology has led to a different market situation for tour operators and travel agency labels, which may disclose new opportunities in the process of differentiation and the creation of a competitive advantage.

The COVID-19 pandemic has entailed an unprecedented health crisis with significant economic impacts in many sectors worldwide. The tourism sector has been one of the most affected, with significant impacts on the number of cancelled reservations, a decrease in international travel and changes in consumption behaviour. This study aims to analyse the main changes in promotion and marketing in the tourism sector in Spain after the pandemic. To this end, a qualitative analysis was carried out via questionnaire-based interviews with 65 experts in the areas of marketing, consumer behaviour and tourism. The main findings show that online information sources gained weight over consulting friends and relatives, and a great advance in digitization is expected, where physical travel agencies will be displaced by online platforms, except for specialized and advisory services. Additionally, technologies such as virtual reality (VR) or artificial intelligence (AI) may play an increasingly important role in the medium term.

This study is aimed at studying the features of the formation of a mechanism for ensuring the liquidity and solvency of travel agencies in the context of the development of a pandemic caused by COVID-19 infection. The object is an average travel agency – an analogue of real-life agencies in the tourism services market of the Republic of Tatarstan with an average annual revenue from sales over the past 3 years in the amount of 15 000 thousand rubles. The authors propose recommendations for the development of a model and strategy for the development of liquidity and solvency of travel agencies in the conditions of development instability caused by the pandemic.

In recent years, with the rapid development of China's economy, more and more standardized of all aspects, the tourism industry is also increasingly tending to mature, the number of tourists who have demand for public services is increasing, strengthening travel agencies’ strategic brand management is the inevitable choice to the construction of China's tourism power, but also a positive role in the construction of local tourism services, which has important significance. Facing wide disparity of the Chinese and foreign travel, as well as the reality background of the large-scale foreign capital and joint venture travel into our country's tourism market, as well as the background of the relative lack of academic related research of the travel agency brand, in this paper, the problem of how to enhance the competitiveness of our country travel agency brands is discussed. This paper first defined the concept of travel brands, insufficient analysis of brand management of travel agencies, at present, China Travel Agency has reasonably insufficient number of service providers, service structure is irrational, the service system is imperfect, inadequate security and other issues evaluation system needs to be improved, this paper analyzes the issues and raises countermeasures, in order to provide reference for our travel agency.
