Статья посвящена исследованию малоизученной стороны деятельности видного русского священнослужителя протоиерея Евгения Попова, бывшего с 1842 по 1875 гг. настоятелем русской посольской церкви в Лондоне. Его служение на Английской земле совпало с углублением диалога между Русской Православной и Англиканской церквами, явившегося следствием религиозных преобразований в Англии в 1830 - 1840-е гг. Отец Евгений в рассматриваемый период фактически стал связующим звеном между русским церковноначалием и англиканами - инициаторами единения двух Церквей. Он проделал огромную работу по популяризации православия в Англии и много сделал для ознакомления русской церковной общественности с вероучением и структурными особенностями англиканства. Материалом для исследования послужили, прежде всего, письма протоиерея Евгения Попова обер-прокурорам Святейшего Синода Н. А. Протасову и А. П. Толстому. Эти документы являются своеобразными отчётами о современном состоянии Англиканской Церкви, о религиозных течениях в ней и усилиях, предпринимаемых определёнными церковными кругами в Англии по сближению с православием. Результаты его деятельности имели важное значение в последующие десятилетия, когда англикано-православный диалог вышел на церковно-государственный уровень. The article is devoted to the insufficiently studied aspects of Russian prominent cleric Archpriest Eugene Popov, rector of Russian Embassy Church in London from 1842 to 1875. His Ministry on the English soil coincided with the deepening of the dialogue between the Russian Orthodox and Anglican Churches, which was the result of religious transformations in England in the 1830s and 1840s. Father Eugene in the period under consideration actually became a connecting link between the Russian Church authorities and the anglicans-initiators of the union of the two Churches. He had done a great job by popularizing Orthodoxy in England and by familiarizing the Russian Church community with the doctrine and structural features of Anglicanism. The study, first of all, is based the letters of Archpriest Yevgeny Popov to the chief prosecutors of the Holy Synod N. A. Protasov and A. P. Tolstoy, which were original reports on the current state of the Anglican Church, it’s religious trends, and the efforts made by certain Church circles in England to get closer to Orthodoxy. The fruits of his activities were important in the following decades, when the Anglican-Orthodox dialogue reached the Church-state level.

The article is devoted to the role of Tourism terminology in linguistics and the issue of general classification, peculiarities in the expression and translation of terms related to tourism in English into Uzbek and Russian, as well as the choice of the most optimal methods for translating terms in accordance with the requirements of this professional sphere. The terminology of the English language tourism is distinguished by its brightness, versatility. Tourism terms are formed under the influence of a generalized lexical layer of language and perform a specific functional function.Tourism terms are formed through the affixation method (prefixation, suffixation, circumphixation) and get rich through the process.The terminology of English Tourism is distinguished by its content and structural features, forming a part of the language vocabulary from the linguistic point of view. Texts in the field of Tourism take into their composition concepts of Tourism and interpret them in their content. They will be mainly in the form of advertising, as well as enlighten information about a particular region or place, create informational precedents and ensure their manifestation in the social cultural presence. The relevance of the study of the problems of translation of terms in the field of tourism has been investigated, mainly due to the development of international relations, expansion of cooperation between local and foreign companies, as well as the increase in this area of communication.

Team virtuality has been mostly conceptualized as structural features, such as the percentage of time team members communicate via technology. However, the perception of distance and of information deficits (team perceived virtuality, TPV) may be an indispensable construct to understand virtual teams’ functioning. The lockdowns imposed on most countries due to COVID-19 created virtual teams with high degrees of structural virtuality. With structural virtuality held constant among teams, we explore configurations of work characteristics (autonomy, interdependence, and organizational support) that influence TPV. With a sample of 296 multinational workers, a Latent Profile Analysis identified four distinct profiles of those work characteristics. Those profiles related differently to TPV. Contrary to previous findings, interdependence seems to play an important role in these teams high in structural virtuality when their autonomy is also high, highlighting the pivotal role of frequent interaction among team members, under conditions of high structural virtuality.

CCRL2 is a seven-transmembrane domain receptor that belongs to the chemokine receptor family. At difference from other members of this family, CCRL2 does not promote chemotaxis and shares structural features with atypical chemokine receptors (ACKRs). However, CCRL2 also differs from ACKRs since it does not bind chemokines and is devoid of scavenging functions. The only commonly recognized CCRL2 ligand is chemerin, a non-chemokine chemotactic protein. CCRL2 is expressed both by leukocytes and non-hematopoietic cells. The genetic ablation of CCRL2 has been instrumental to elucidate the role of this receptor as positive or negative regulator of inflammation. CCRL2 modulates leukocyte migration by two main mechanisms. First, when CCRL2 is expressed by barrier cells, such endothelial, and epithelial cells, it acts as a presenting molecule, contributing to the formation of a non-soluble chemotactic gradient for leukocytes expressing CMKLR1, the functional chemerin receptor. This mechanism was shown to be crucial in the induction of NK cell-dependent immune surveillance in lung cancer progression and metastasis. Second, by forming heterocomplexes with other chemokine receptors. For instance, CCRL2/CXCR2 heterodimers were shown to regulate the activation of β2-integrins in mouse neutrophils. This mini-review summarizes the current understanding of CCRL2 biology, based on experimental evidence obtained by the genetic deletion of this receptor in in vivo experimental models. Further studies are required to highlight the complex functional role of CCRL2 in different organs and pathological conditions.

Regulation of total body water balance in amphibians by antidiuretic hormone (ADH) contributed to their successful colonization of terrestrial habitats approximately 200-300 million years ago. In the mammalian kidney, ADH modulates epithelial cell apical membrane water permeability (Pf) by fusion and retrieval of cytoplasmic vesicles containing water channel proteins called aquaporins (AQPs). To determine the role of AQPs in ADH-elicited Pf in amphibians, we have identified and characterized a unique AQP from Bufo marinus called AQP toad bladder (AQP-TB). AQP-TB possesses many structural features common to other AQPs, AQP-TB is expressed abundantly in ADH-responsive tissues, including toad urinary bladder and skin as well as lung, skeletal muscle, kidney, and brain. In a manner identical to that reported for the mammalian ADH-elicited water channel AQP2, AQP-TB expression is increased significantly by intervals of dehydration or chronic ADH stimulation. However, expression of AQP-TB protein in Xenopus laevis oocytes does not significantly increase oocyte Pf. The lack of expression of functional AQP-TB water channels in oocytes may result from intracellular sequestration of AQP-TB due to the presence of a YXRF sequence motif present in its carboxyterminal domain.

Sex hormone-dependent cancers currently contribute to the high number of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The study and elucidation of the molecular mechanisms underlying the progression of these tumors was a double-edged sword, leading to the expansion and development of new treatment options, with the cost of triggering more aggressive, therapy resistant relapses. The interaction of androgen, estrogen and progesterone hormones with specific receptors (AR, ER, PR) has emerged as a key player in the development and progression of breast, ovarian, prostate and endometrium cancers. Sex hormone-dependent cancers share a common and rather unique carcinogenesis mechanism involving the active role of endogenous and exogenous sex hormones to maintain high mitotic rates and increased cell proliferation thus increasing the probability of aberrant gene occurrence and accumulation highly correlated with abnormal cell division and the occurrence of malignant phenotypes. Cancer related hormone therapy has evolved, currently being associated with the blockade of other signaling pathways often associated with carcinogenesis and tumor progression in cancers, with promising results. However, despite the established developments, there are still several shortcomings to be addressed. Triterpenes are natural occurring secondary metabolites biosynthesized by various pathways starting from squalene cyclization. Due to their versatile therapeutic potential, including the extensively researched antiproliferative effect, these compounds are most definitely a cornerstone in the research and development of new natural/semisynthetic anticancer therapies. The present work thoroughly describes the ongoing research related to the antitumor activity of triterpenes in sex hormone-dependent cancers. Also, the current review highlights both the biological activity of various triterpenoid compounds and their featured mechanisms of action correlated with important chemical structural features.

Beta-barrel membrane proteins are essential for nutrient import, signaling, motility, and survival. In Gram-negative bacteria, the beta-barrel assembly machinery (BAM) complex is responsible for the biogenesis of beta-barrel outer membrane proteins (OMPs), with homologous complexes found in mitochondria and chloroplasts. Despite their essential roles, exactly how these OMPs are formed remains unknown. The BAM complex consists of a central and essential component called BamA (an OMP itself) and four lipoproteins called BamB-E. While the structure of the lipoproteins have been reported, the structure of full length BamA has been elusive. Recently though, we described the structure of BamA from two species of bacteria: Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Haemophilus ducreyi. BamA consists of a large periplasmic domain attached to a 16-strand transmembrane beta-barrel domain. Together, our crystal structures and molecule dynamics (MD) simulations revealed several structural features which gave clues to the mechanism by which BamA catalyzes beta-barrel assembly. The first is that the interior cavity is accessible in one BamA structure and conformationally closed in the other. Second, an exterior rim of the beta-barrel has a distinctly narrowed hydrophobic surface, locally destabilizing the outer membrane. Third, the beta-barrel can undergo lateral opening, suggesting a route from the interior cavity in BamA into the outer membrane. And fourth, a surface exposed exit pore positioned above the lateral opening site which may play a role in the biogenesis of extracellular loops. In this presentation, the crystal structures and MD simulations of BamA will be presented along with our work looking at the role of these four structural features in the role of BamA within the BAM complex.

Abstract Background: In 1987, Graves observed that during the 3rd trimester, some patients with pre-eclampsia had high levels of unknown materials that could be detected with assays for digoxin (DLM). In 2018, we characterized a new candidate for the DLM, Ionotropin. It is a phosphocholine (PC) ester of a novel steroid with 23 carbon atoms. As Ionotropin shares structural features (a) with spironolactone (both have spiral lactones in the E-ring) and (b) with digoxin (E-ring lactone and 3α-5β configuration), we have proposed that Ionotropin may function as a potassium (K+) sparing diuretic. This suggestion is supported by the observations that [1] patients who cannot make Ionotropin (7-dehydrosterol reductase deficiency) are K+ wasting and [2] breast cyst fluids with high K+ levels also have high Ionotropin levels. Hypothesis: During the 3rd trimester, fetal requirements for K+ reach a maximum, fetal blood pressure increases and aldosterone signaling is blocked. This blockage leads to fetal sodium (Na+) wasting and is essential for formation of amniotic fluid. These events are consistent with a normal role for an unknown endogenous K+ sparing hormone and would be the basis for a modest elevation of maternal DLM during the 3rd trimester. Our hypothesis is that if any of the functions were inadequate, then the fetal-placental unit would synthesize excess PC-spiral steroids; the woman would exhibit symptoms of K+ sparing hormone excess (hypertension and proteinuria) and would be diagnosed with pre-eclampsia. Experimental Results: We have just reported a pilot study associating elevated PC esters of spiral steroids in women with pre-eclampsia. In brief, 12 of 19 women had elevated levels of at least one of the PC steroids (Z-score &gt; 2) when compared to the levels in 20 pregnant women matched for gestational age and fetal sex. There are two basic mechanisms for this dichotomy: (a) there may be episodic secretion with of a DLM with a short half-life or (b) there may be two different underlying biochemical causes. In prior studies, there has been no indication of episodic secretion of DLM similar to that observed with glucocorticoids, Ionotropin or other PC spiral steroids. Discussion: There are two basic types of K+ sparing diuretics. Type A: Spironolactone functions by regulating the NaK-ATPase. Type B: Triamterene functions by blocking synthesis of epithelial Na+ channels. Thus, Type A would have high levels of spiral steroids and Type B would have low levels of spiral steroids. Type A patients would be expected to have higher risk of long-term consequences when compared to the Type B patients. Conclusion: The recognition of the division of pre-eclampsia into two separate diseases might be the key observation for developing Type-specific diagnosis and therapy. For example, a Type A patient might benefit from a low salt diet but that diet would not be expected to benefit a patient with Type B disease.
