The purpose of this study was to know the kinds of figurative language used in selected lyrics of Coldplay song. This research was designed to identify some figurative language by understanding the general meaning when they are used in the lyrics of songs. The technique of descriptive analysis offered to analyze data by reading the data, then identifying the figurative language used in the lyrics of the song. After identifying some figurative languages then they are categorized into some kinds of figurative languages. Then, the general meaning of figurative language by identifying the lexical meaning and contextual meaning of the four selected lyrics of the song are used to analyze the data got from the song. Based on research findings, some figurative languages were found in Coldplay’s selected songs. Most of the figurative language which is used in the lyrics of Coldplay’s selected songs is “Hyperbole” which has a great exaggeration used to emphasize a point, and used for expressive or comic effect. The meanings which were found from the song are classified into connotative meanings. The lyrics of Coldplay’s selected songs tell us about humanity’s social life which contains love, sadness, happiness, spirit and others. In the lyrics of Coldplay’s selected songs, figurative languages are helpful to understand the song. The existence of figurative language is not to complicate the understanding of lyrics but to simplify and clear the understanding of lyrics. The song is very suitable for English Learners who want to improve their English skills in analyzing lyrics that contain figurative language. From the explanation above can be concluded that in analyzing lyrics besides finding figurative language in lyrics, the meanings of the song that contain figurative languages and messages of the song can be understood.

The purposes of this study are to know the kinds of figurative language and the general meaning used in selected lyrics of  Justin Timberlake song. This research is designed to identify some figurative language by understanding the general meaning when they are used in the song lyric. The technique of descriptive analysis is used to analyze data of  the figurative language used in the lyric of the ‘Mirror’. Based on research findings, the writers found some figurative languages in the Justin Timberlake’s selected song. It can be found that most of figurative languages which are used in lyrics of Justin Timberlake’s selected songs are “symbol, metaphor, personification and simile” that have a great exaggeration used to emphasize a point, used for expression or comic effect.

This research is intended to analyze the meanings of semantic and moral values found in songs lyrics in the album by Coldplay. The result of this research is expected to be valuable research in enlarging the knowledge of semantics field especially in analysis of song. In this case the meanings and moral values found in the Coldplay’s Album songs lyrics. In this case, the researcher collects the data in following steps. Firstly, collecting the script of song lyrics taken from the internet. Secondly, assembling data from the sources. Thirdly, reading all the data sources. Lastly, classifying the lyric based on the lexical meaning and moral values and classified them according to the research focus. After analyzing the data, the lexical terms found in this song contains 6 denotations, 5 connotations, 1 ambiguity, 10 antonyms and 11 synonyms. Furthermore, there are many kinds of figurative languages found in some lyrics of the song such as simile, hyperbole, personification, symbol, metaphor, apostrophe, synecdoche, paradox and antithesis, etc. Specifically, the figurative language which found in lyrics a head full of dreams album , there are 1 metaphor, 2 similes, 2 symbol, 2 hyperboles and 1 irony. Then, the five song lyrics in a head full of dreams album by Coldplay tell us about human social life which contained about love, sadness, happiness, spirit and adventure of life.

This research was conducted to find out the translation methods applied by the translator in translating figurative language in O. Henry’s short stories. This descriptive analysis research took the data from nine short stories as the research documents. There were 19 data taken from those nine short stories. The data were collected by analysis of document. Based on the research findings, from nine short stories, seven simile, three metaphor, three hyperbole were literal translation, two simile were semantic translation, two hyperbole were communicative translation, one hyperbole was idiomatic translation, and one simile was translated free translation. In conclusion, the findings of the study indicated that the result of literal translation was significantly higher than others translation methods. The result is expected to be helpful to improve students’ and readers references of translation method.

The existence and role of Islamic boarding schools in the field of social life of the community requires serious attention. Proper management and provision and improvement of human resources in the field of management. Inequality between large boarding schools and small Islamic boarding schools is clearly seen in the management of pesantren. Culture is an obstacle in conducting pesantren activities. The quality of pesantren is formulated based on management which is carried out in a tangible process starting from planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring carried out to determine or resolve predetermined goals using people and other resources. This type of research uses ethnography with qualitative research methods with descriptive analysis. The research findings focused on pesantren quality culture models that formulated the problem in more detail so that researchers used a qualitative approach with an in-depth interview observation. The conclusion of the results of this study is the quality of pesantren culture embodied in the form of organizational culture that is used as a system of values, beliefs, assumptions, or norms that have been applied, agreed upon and followed by members of the organization as a code of conduct for pesantren activities, madrasas and schools.

Language is a tool of communication used by people anywhere and every time. Now days people commonly find a figurative language in daily life, for example in a lyric of song. Figurative language is a way to express an idea in implicit way. This research is trying to analyze the figurative languages which exist in the lyric of song “A Whole New World” and trying to find out its meaning by analyzing its contextual meaning. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The data instrument is the song lyric which taken from Genius website. The result showed that this song consist of some figurative languages, such as alliteration, simile, personification, metaphor, and hyperbole. Furthermore, the most figurative language used in the lyric is metaphor. It is highly relatable with the imaginative theme of the song itself. The contextual meaning of each figurative language is also explained based on the situation of the lyric.

Time management is the ability to plan and control how a person spends his hours in order to achieve his goals effectively. This involves organizing time between different areas of life, from work, household tasks, social life, and hobbies. Time always passes and we cannot control it, but time management is by organizing events in your life in proportion to time. You may often want to get more time in your day, but you only have 24 hours, 1440 minutes, or 86,400 seconds each day. How long can someone invest Time has acquired its importance for a person, as it represents an important dynamic and mobile dimension in his life that he cannot control, and because it is the vessel that embraces all human interactions and products, and because it is life itself, and that life is the amount of time that a person lives from birth until his death. Therefore, many specialists consider time as the most important component of life, and the most important resource available to humans in life, due to its unique and distinctive features. Because of the importance of time for humans, the ancient civilizations and the various monotheistic religions varied in their interest in it, but during research findings that there are important to record a precedent in order to take advantage of each part of the time, its parts to implement the righteous and purposeful workers that benefit them with good and benefit in the world and the hereafter, and warned them against wasting it and this is clearly manifested in many of the evidence included in the recommendation and result in part.

Research deployed translation issues, mainly concerning from semantic and pragmatic aspects. Discussion was started by stating the importance of linguistic aspects comprehended and applied by a translator, such as grammar, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics. Research presented six meaning problems in translation, those related to lexical meaning, grammatical meaning, contextual meaning or situational meaning, textual meaning, socio-cultural meaning, and idiomatic meaning. It can be concluded that the ability to apply linguistic aspect both from the source and targeted languages take important role to produce a good translation.

This research aims to analyze the meaning of issou, nao, and sara ni. These three words are Japanese adverbs which having the same lexical meaning ‘furthermore’, but contextually the meanings are different. The data were collected from article posted on website asahi.com by observation method and note-taking techniques. They were analyzed using distribution method with expansion techniques. The meanings of these three adverbs were analyzed using contextual meaning theory by Pateda (2001) The results show that issou, nao, and sara ni have the same meaning that is 'something more than before’. The difference is on the spesific context. Nao can be used to indicates a state that still continuing until now without any much improvement. Sara ni. Can be used to indicates addition of something that already sufficient.

Individuals use language as a means of communication everywhere and at all times. In today's world, figurative language is often encountered in everyday life, such as in song lyrics. Figurative language is a way of describing something without saying it directly. This research aims to investigate the figurative languages found in the lyrics of the song "Grenade" by analyzing their context and attempting to decipher their meaning. The data tool is song lyrics found on the internet, and the research approach is descriptive qualitative analysis. The results revealed that this album employs figurative language such as metaphor, hyperbole, and repetition. Furthermore, the most figurative words used in the lyrics is hyperbole. The research was aimed to 1) to research house wife’s behavior in using mass media as information,   2) study of  factors that related to house wife’s behavior in using mass media. The data were collected in August 2009 at Pondok Besi dan Berkas. Sample number in this research were 40 people was taken by simple random method.  In explaining the first purposes were use the descriptive analysis, and the second purpose was analyzed with Spearman Rank correlation test. The information which was gained from mass media especially the things related to entertainment, health, and religion could be helpful for daily life both for their personal and social life. The result of statistical analysis showed that the formal education, number of working hour, household income, their perception on information and attitude to living change, were apparently related to using mass media.Key words: mass communication, house wife’ behavior, fisherman
