English for Spesific purposes is one of  the  topicthat  hold  a  great  deal  of  advantages  for  students  in Literature program. It aims to give a chance to the students to feel the working environment and see how it will be when they want to get involve into the bussiness. The variety jobs have been offered to youngsters but the most current opportunity is on line bussiness. It opens a wide range of chance for  students to achieve. In order to do so, students should master some skills, not only pedagogic skills but also marketing skills. This research tries to answer the question of how to acquire ESP students’ skillsof online marketing using mixed method, consist of qualitative, quantitative into a mixed method research approaches. The population is the senior students who are going to do field observations in several offices, consists of 30 students of english literature department program. The results show that; (1) Mixed Methods has a significat impact on the acquisition of ESP students’ skills ofon line marketing, (2) online marketing is still a prosperous bussiness for the future. Further it is suggested to do more research on this area to enrich the knowledge of online bussiness as one of the new option of profession for students of english literature department program in FBS Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED).

This study aims to assess children’s connectedness to nature (CTN) through drawing based on their preferences and interest in natural elements in spaces. A sequential explanatory mixed-method research design was employed to achieve the aim. For the quantitative part, questionnaires were distributed to 760 children in 20 schools located in Kedah and Penang, Malaysia. For the qualitative part, 72 children were grouped into draw and focus groups. The children in the qualitative part were chosen from low-, moderate- and high-level CTN groups. The results confirm that children’s CTN can be assessed through their drawing based on their interest in natural elements in spaces. The findings indicated that children from the high-level CTN group had more interest in natural elements in spaces compared to the children in the moderate- and low-level of CTN groups.

The purpose of this study is to uncover the rationale (why) and the types of designs (what) for application of mixed method approaches in finance research using a systematic literature review approach. The findings revealed that there are four main research gaps in mixed method applications in finance: (a) poorly or nonformulated research questions, (b) lack of identification of the rationale for mixed methods, (c) poor identification of mixed methods and design, and (d) the manuscript reviewing gap. Finance studies based on quantitative methods and proxy variables can be further validated through mixed method approaches, thereby increasing the validity, completeness, and confirmation of findings, and minimizing the inherent weaknesses of mono-method approaches. We suggest that researchers in the finance discipline should justify their research methodology in order to eliminate the biases that arise through the selection of convenient methodologies. Thus, future studies should incorporate both qualitative and quantitative aspects when formulating mixed method research questions, emphasize the rationale, and choose appropriate mixed method designs to achieve a high level of scientific rigor in mixed methods research. Also, editors of nonmixed method journals need to have reviewing support from mixed method experts or adhere to the guidelines proposed by Onwuegbuzie and Poth when evaluating mixed method manuscripts to achieve a high level of quality and accuracy in their mixed methods research publications in finance.

The purpose of this research is to review the level of children's digital game playing addiction and to evaluate their opinions on the parents playing digital games. In the 2017-2018 academic year, the students of the Şehit Ramazan Konuş secondary school affiliated to the Niğde Provincial Directorate of National Education constitute the universe of the research. 246 students who were chosen according to the method of typical case sampling constituted the sampling of the research. "Mixed method research" has been adopted as a research model and "Explanatory Design" has been used as a mixed method research design. In this direction; the "Digital Game Addiction Scale for Children" developed by Hazar and Hazar was applied in 2017 in the quantitative part of the study. In the qualitative section, interviews were made with 14 participants, 7 females and 7 males, who had high level of addiction and who regularly played digital games, participated in the research voluntarily. The data were analyzed by content analysis and descriptive analysis. The data obtained for the study were analyzed primarily through the SPSS 24 packet program. According to the results of this analysis, participants were found to have statistically significant difference in gender, age, and parents’ playing and not playing digital games, while it was seen that there was no statistically significant difference. Whether they had a sportsman license, whether or not internet access was available at their residence, and parents' educational status variables In the qualitative analysis of the research, 8 themes and sub-themes related to this theme were formed. As a result; it is a striking result that the dependency of the participants with digital game playing parents and weak family relations is higher than the other participants. The high level of addiction of the participants with an athlete license is a noteworthy finding.

The objective of the research is to determine the relationship between academic motivation and the professional skills development in the specialty of Social Sciences and Tourism. The study is quantitative and the design is non-experimental correlational translational. The results indicate that there is a high level relationship (0.914) between the independent academic motivation variable and the professional competences development in the Specialty of Social Sciences and Tourism. In conclusion, motivation is directly related to the professional skills development in the specialty of Social Sciences and Tourism. The research results conclude that there is a high relationship between the variables.

This chapter revisits trade-offs that qualitative researchers face when balancing the different expectations of area studies and disciplinary audiences. One putative solution to such trade-offs, mixed-method research, emphasizes the triangulation of quantitative and qualitative methods. CAS, as defined above, essentially encourages a different form of triangulation—the pooling of observations and interpretations across a wider array of cases spanning multiple areas. This kind of triangulation can be facilitated by cross-regional contextualized comparison, a middle-range approach that stands between area-bound qualitative research and (Millean) macro-comparative analysis that brackets out context in search of causal laws. Importantly, this approach relies upon an area specialist’s sensibilities and experience to generate awareness of local complexities and context conditions for less familiar cases. The examples of cross-regional contextualized comparison considered in this chapter collectively demonstrate that engagement with area studies scholarship and the pursuit of disciplinary knowledge can be a positive-sum game.

AbstractDespite advances in the field, we still know little about the socio-cognitive processes of team decisions, particularly their emergence from an individual level and transition to a team level. This study investigates team decision processes by using an agent-based model to conceptualize team decisions as an emergent property. It uses a mixed-method research design with a laboratory experiment providing qualitative and quantitative input for the model’s construction, as well as data for an output validation of the model. First, the laboratory experiment generates data about individual and team cognition structures. Then, the agent-based model is used as a computational testbed to contrast several processes of team decision making, representing potential, simplified mechanisms of how a team decision emerges. The increasing overall fit of the simulation and empirical results indicates that the modeled decision processes can at least partly explain the observed team decisions. Overall, we contribute to the current literature by presenting an innovative mixed-method approach that opens and exposes the black box of team decision processes beyond well-known static attributes.

Despite an increase in ethnic diversity within the state, the Irish teaching workforce remains starkly mono-ethnic. This article is based on an analysis of data generated through a sequential explanatory mixed method research project involving questionnaire responses from 240 migrant teachers and subsequent focus group with a selection of teachers. Findings suggest that migrant teachers are slow to engage in the formal accreditation process, and face considerable challenges when they do. This reflects not only practical difficulties, but also narrow discourses of who can legitimately be recognised as a teacher in Ireland. This in turn is linked to cultural arbitraries highlighted through the research, such as a requirement to be able to teach through the Irish language in primary school and a requirement to be registered to teach in primary or post-primary schools only. In exploring these barriers, we draw broadly on Bourdieu and Passeron’s (1990) work, which understands teachers as pedagogic agents, imbued with pedagogic authority through formal processes of accreditation and selection. These processes involve the imposition of cultural arbitraries which legitimate certain languages, content or stances over others. Recommendations include revisions to the registration process to take previous teaching experience into account.
