Nowadays the number of foreign students entering various educational programs at Russian universities is actively growing. Multimedia technologies are actively used for their training along with traditional forms of work. This paper discusses the features of working with video material in physics lessons in a foreign language classroom. Such classes help to increase the motivation of students to acquire knowledge and successfully master the main course material. The authors focus their attention on a visual demonstration of the basic provisions of the general theory of relativity, for which the Oscar-winning film “Interstellar” by Christopher Nolan is chosen. The paper describes the main stages of the lesson such as preparatory, viewing and final, as well as their main aims. The authors offer different types of tasks and exercises that prepare students for watching a scientific and feature film on the topic under study, control their understanding and learning of theoretical information. The paper provides examples of the implementation of all types of speech activity while working on the selected topic. The authors demonstrate that this form of the lesson allows one to form not only communicative competence, such as the ability to answer questions and present the studied material, but also professional competence, such as the ability to solve tasks, formulate hypotheses, and scientifically argue one’s point of view. The proposed system of organizing the lesson proves the importance and efficiency of including video material in the process of studying physics. It is necessary to emphasize the practicality of the work that offers a well-planned lesson, which can be adapted to the level of a student (either a student of the pre-academic programs, bachelor’s or master’s). In addition, the presented types of tasks can form the basis for creating a similar lesson on any other topic.

A working mechanism during the comparative analysis of phraseological units and paroemias (proverbs and aphorisms) at the classes of Russian as foreign language with English speaking learners is presented in the article. While working in the audience, the attention is being paid to the comparative analysis of phraseological units and paroemias in Russian and foreign students’ native language from a semantical point of view. Such concepts and ideas as family, homeland, work / service / profession, studying, friendship, human flaws and virtues, represented in the proverbs and paroemias, are being analyzed. The similarities and differences in semantic field of phraseological units and paroemias of different cultures’ speakers are found. A parallel attitude to the main categories as family, home and friendship among Russian and English speakers is shown up. During a comparative analysis, it is being observed that in definite cases similar meanings can be expressed by different lexis typical for the concrete nation. Studying of this topic promotes the dialogue of cultures.

The article deals with the problem of academic discussion’ opportunities in teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language. The author emphasizes the subjective interpretation of the topic as the essential characteristic, the main genre law of the essay. Bright subjectivity encourages the reader to meditate and dialogue with the text. We can offer an essay for discussion to foreigners speaks Ukrainian at medium and high levels. This will be especially useful for foreign students of the humanities. Examples of essay prose are relevant to future Ukrainian philologist, historians, political scientists, sociologists, cultural scientists, and art historians, as the essay thematic spectrum is concentrated in these areas. In addition, reading essays and their discussion will promote the development of textual competence – the main component of the humanitarian’s professional competence. Among the various forms of modern essay, an essay in the form of a column in the media is a most interesting in the aspect of language learning. Small size, an appeal to important contemporary themes, and the involvement of elements of the colloquial style – these basic features determine the linguodidactic potential of an essay-column. The article proposes a detailed analysis of the essay “One against All” by S. Zadan and shows its internal contradiction. Synonymic rows make one global antithesis: a compromise and a struggle. The analysis reveals how ambiguous the problem is, how subjective the authorʼs point of view is and how productive it is for organizing discussion. The author's questions give rise to student answers and a lot of new questions. The article proposes the plan of the discussion and emphasizes the importance of the psychological factors and the personal teacher’s traits (the ability to feel the interests of the group, to create a positive psychological microclimate, to interest students, to call for a trusting conversation). Prospects for further research are the selection and linguodidactic analysis of Ukrainian essays suitable for use in the study of foreigners.

Introduction. One of the urgent problems of modern education is building a professional competence model of a specialist in order to increase the effectiveness of training and the formation of professional competencies necessary for a successful entry into the profession. From this point of view, the description of a professional portrait of Teacher of Russian as a Foreign Language will contribute to the most effective design of educational programs in this area of training.Materials and Methods. In the course of the work, theoretical and empirical research methods were used: analysis, synthesis, generalization, comparison, juxtaposition, scientific theorization.Results.In the preparation of Teacher of Russian as a Foreign Language, two models were initially laid down: when the teacher is a native speaker and when he himself learns Russian as a foreign language and subsequently broadcasts the acquired knowledge to foreign students. The main difference between these portraits of teachers is the presence of a foreign language communicative competence in the training of foreign language teachers, as well as the formation and improvement of a foreign language reading competence. At the same time, the common, uniting both models, are the psychological, pedagogical, methodological, intercultural and acmeological competences, which constitute the portrait of Teacher of Russian as a Foreign Language. The designated competencies made it possible to formulate professional competencies in educational programs in the direction of training «Pedagogical education» at the bachelor's and master's degrees at the Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University named after Kozma Minin (44.03.01 «Russian as a foreign language» and 44.04.01 «Teaching Russian as a foreign language») and the corresponding sets of regulatory documents. Discussion and Conclusions. Teacher of Russian as a foreign language being a translator of Russian culture, it should be a competent, erudite, tolerant, ready for intercultural communication, striving for constant professional improvement, having both general pedagogical and specialized competencies.

Abstract The paper discusses the new interactive technologies in teaching Russian as a foreign language. Based on a review of literature, research, theory, internet resources and current teaching practices the paper considers both theoretical and practical aspects of the usage of interactive technology in teaching Russian as a foreign language for medical students. The author demonstrates that learning Russian plays a vital role for foreign students studying medicine in Russia, being a prerequisite for their educational and professional work performance during their studies in a Russian university. The new modern technologies of teaching such as interactive teaching technologies largely contribute to the increase of foreign students’ motivation for learning the Russian language, particularly for medical and biological studies, and the efficiency of the learning process, as well as to the development of an active verbal communication during the classroom activities. Teaching experience demonstrates the effectiveness of interactive technologies for the development of speaking proficiency, interpersonal and communication skills. Based on the theory of teaching practice at a medical university and on the literature review as well, we specified the core characteristics of the interactive technologies compared to the traditional methods of teaching. Our review’s results make it possible to suggest that interactive technologies implementation should be based on mechanisms of dialogue, reflexivity and collaboration. These mechanisms contribute to the formation of the communicative as well as professional competence of foreign students.

The course “Pharmaceutical Chemistry” is a mandatory component of professional training program for students majoring in 226 “Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy”, as well as one of the elements of the integrated licensing test exam “Step 2. Pharmacy” and an objective structured practical exam. This course is taught to English-speaking students at the Pharmacy Department of IFNMU since 2013. A significant amount of study material (13 ECTS credits, 5 semesters), the transition to distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, difficulties with learning in English leads to a significant reduction in the motivation of foreign students to study pharmaceutical chemistry. In order to improve the quality of training of foreign students, we have summarized the experience of teaching the pharmaceutical chemistry to English-speaking students at the Pharmacy Department of IFNMU; conducted a questionnaire of the students; identified and analyzed the ways to solve the main problems faced by both students and teachers; offered the recommendations for improving teaching methods for on-line and off-line classes. In 2020-2021 academic year at the Pharmacy Department of IFNMU the students of the 3rd and 4th courses studied pharmaceutical chemistry. In the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, training was conducted on-line on the Microsoft Teams platform. In order to find out the attitude of students to this subject and to the methods of its teaching, a questionnaire was conducted in Microsoft Forms. Students were asked to answer 6 test questions and also to give their own recommendations. According to the results of students’ surveys and their suggestions, we proposed to use the following methods to improve work with foreign students and improve the ways of presenting material in on-line classes in pharmaceutical chemistry: learning the monographs on medicines from pharmacopoeias of different countries (including those that are the Homeland of students), their analysis and comparison of the described methods; creation of video recordings of processes of the analysis of medicines with the subsequent their demonstration and discussion in the class; demonstration of videos with intentional mistakes in the implementation of methods of drug analysis, and the subsequent processing of these mistakes in the form of discussion; oral discussion of the algorithms for conducting various stages of drug analysis (identification, assay, purity tests) and their reproduction by students using an interactive whiteboard, multimedia chemical computer programs, on-line testing; solving by students various professional situational problems, independent development of methods of analysis of drugs and further discussion of all possible ways and means. All the proposed methods can be used also in off-line classes with the replacement of video demonstrations of drug analysis processes to work with students in an experimental laboratory. Thus, using the above methods can significantly improve the results of theoretical and practical training of foreign students in pharmaceutical chemistry, especially during the on-line learning. In addition, it allows students to form other skills necessary for their further professional life such as the ability to put forward ideas, defend their point of view, work in a team, hold a discussion. As a result of such an approach to conducting classes, students will develop an interest in the course, and thus their results will be improved.

Terminological competence is an integral component of speech culture of any professional. It presupposes the corresponding terminology basis and skills of using it efficiently. The issue of researching and learning terminological lexis, and thus, the issue of building up terminological competence of future experts in any field have frequently drawn scholars’ attention. At the same time, despite numerous works in the above domain, there are certain gaps in studying the problem considered, which is obvious, taking into account the insufficient quality of the system of activities directed at forming the culture of professional communication, whose part and parcel is terminological competence of future professionals in any field, including future managers. The aim of this work is to analyze opportunities of forming terminological competence while teaching graduate students (majoring in management) the Ukrainian language. To realize the above mentioned aim, it is necessary to reveal the essence and the structure of the concept «terminological competence», as well as to explicate main approaches, methods and steps of forming it. The author of the article analytically sums up material from scientific works of the recent years and offers a vision of terminological competence as a conscious motivated usage of terms in their specific meanings that are fixed in the corresponding terminological dictionaries, applying terms with an emphasis on understanding historical processes in lexis and semantics in general and the development systems of terms, in particular, making terms function from the point of view of lexico-semantic relationships in this field, taking into consideration word valence in terms of patterns «a term – a term», «a term – a common word»; consciously following grammar norms of modern standard Ukrainian while using terminological lexical units; relevantly operating terminological lexical units as scientific style entities in the process of creating scientific texts. The author concludes that forming a high level terminological competence can be ensured only by means of developing a rational system of teaching methods, aimed at step-by-step consistent mastering major terminology that will enable a multi-facet comprehension of terminological vocabularies and their constant high-quality enrichment, enhancing the process of building up skills of working with terminological lexis and of using terms in major-oriented texts in the appropriate way.

Stereotypes and Trends in Today’s Romanian Press. In the last three decades, the Romanian media has undergone significant changes. In this industry, the market is nowadays dominated by TV and online press. The number of TV stations with national or local coverage has increased significantly, and the competition between newspapers or online news pages has intensified. A consequence of the battle for audience is the tabloidization of some TV channels, as well as online press, in order to increase the number of retrievals of online news. The tabloidization trend is seen in the dissemination of a sometimes-exaggerated number of sensational information, in the wording of news titles and in the insistent advertising. From a linguistic point of view, chaos reigns in TV and online press. Many of the news posted online seem to be drawn up in a hurry or negligently translated from various foreign sources. We are witnessing a mixture of styles and an alienation from the journalistic canon. The stylistic hybridization is the natural outcome of the frequent use of words and phrases characteristic to colloquial-familiar and argotic language or from various terminological areas, generally hardly accessible to the wide audience. However, the TV and online press has an undisputed merit: a major contribution to enriching the vocabulary with new elements (compound words, derived words, loanwords from other modern languages or calques), to their dissemination and establishment in the Romanian language.
