The performance of nurses can be seen from several cases that occur in hospitals. The incidence of falls in patients, nosocomial infections, inadequate documentation is the result of nurses' low performance. Factors that affect the performance of nurses in hospitals are job satisfaction. So this study aims to describe the relationship between job satisfaction and nurse performance. This study used a cross-sectional study design with a sample of 85 nurses at Arosuka Hospital using proportional sampling technique. The research instrument used a job satisfaction survey questionnaire and the Individual Work Performance quasi (IWPQ) and statistical tests used frequency distribution and chi-square tests. The results showed that the majority of nurses' job satisfaction was in the satisfied category as much as 56.5% and the majority of nurses' performance in the high category was 51.8%. Then obtained a significant relationship between job satisfaction and nurse performance with a p-value of 0.000. So it is expected that hospitals can pay attention to aspects of nurse job satisfaction in making policies

Background: The stressful work environment of emergency departments needs competent nurses to be successful in their careers. Although the work environment significantly affects nurses’ quality of care and job satisfaction, studies on the relationship between the work environment and career success are still limited. Therefore, it is imperative to investigate how individual and environmental factors predict the career success of nurses in the emergency department.Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the predictors of career success of emergency nurses based on work index and contextual variables. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in eight university hospitals in Tabriz, Iran. The career success scale and the Nursing Work Index (PES-NWI) were completed by 193 emergency nurses selected using a stratified random sampling technique. Data were analyzed using a multivariate regression analysis. Results: The mean and standard deviation of nurses’ scores were 168.59±15.54 for the career success scale (range: 39-195) and 2.64±0.48 for the PES-NWI (range: 1-4). According to multiple linear regression analysis, nursing work index and hospital type were significant predictors of nurses’ career success (R2=0.17, adjusted R2=0.11, p<.01).Conclusion: Nursing work index and hospital type were significant predictors of nurses’ career success. Nursing managers and leaders should provide healthy work environments to help nurses increase their career success.

Background: Osteoporosis is one of the main causes of morbidity in patients with thalassemia major. Osteoprotegerin (OPG) is secreted by osteoblasts and osteogenic stromal stem cells and protects the skeleton from excessive bone reabsorption. In this study, the authors aimed to assess the relationship between OPG with osteoporosis and osteopenia in patients with thalassemia major. Materials and Methods: In this analytic cross-sectional study, 37 patients aged 8-18 years, with thalassemia major were enrolled. Biochemical markers including hemoglobin, ferritin, calcium, phosphorus levels, and MRI T2* heart and liver were assessed. A bone mineral densitometry (BMD) was performed as well. Statistical analysis was performed by the independent T-test and Chi-Square test using the SPSS 20. The Multiple linear regression analysis was used to investigate the association between the BMD Z-score and OPG by the effect modification. Results: The mean age of patients was 14.86±3.72 years. Normal bone density, osteopenia, and osteoporosis were noted in 2 (5.4%), 21 (56.8%), and 14 (37.08%) patients, respectively. The number of girls (P=0.042), mean age (P=0.045), and MRI T2* heart (P=0.033) in patients with osteopenia was significantly higher than patients with osteoporosis. The BMD Z-score was not significantly associated with OPG regarding the total number of participants, whereas in patients with osteoporosis, this association was significant (P=0.001). In all effect modified models, BMD remained statistically non-significant except for body mass index modification (P=0.046). Conclusion: Based on the results, it seems that further complicated studies are needed to be performed on this issue.
