The current training system for specialists in the field of tourism is oriented towards the continuous change of society and tends to continuously increase the quality of provided services. One of the peculiarities of the specialties in the field of tourism is the impossibility to work within the limits of a narrow specialization, of major importance being the personality characteristics, which ensure maximum efficiency and success in the profession. The aim of the research is the study of the personality and professional qualities necessary for the future specialist in the field of tourism. The research methods applied in the study were: the method of scientific documentation, the questionnaire, the statistical-mathematical method. The main results of the research showed that students appreciate the most for the future profession the higher education in tourism, knowledge of technologies for organizing the tourism industry and the basics of psychology, which reflects the content of the vocational training process at the university. At the same time, the experience in the field is placed on the last positions, which reflects the low number of practical activities (performed only during the internship). Thus, students studying at the specialized faculty are aware of the importance and need for personal and professional qualities for the future professional activity and appreciate the importance of specialized knowledge and professional skills in becoming highly qualified specialists.

The article analyzes the scientific sources on the classification of interactive technologies in primary and higher schools, presents the basic classifications of methods of interactive learning on the basis of various features: communicative functions, degree of involvement of participants in the educational process, forms of organization of educational activities, etc. The main problems in creating a unified classification of interactive methods have been identified. A new, practically oriented classification is developed, based on the sign of motivation of educational activity. Based on the research, we can state the need to create a new classification that would be universal for two levels of education - primary and higher education. The basis for its formation is a set of motives that each participant in the educational process pursues. The first group of methods are those that meet the social needs of the subjects of the educational process. These include the motive for self-expression and self-assertion in the group and the motive for achieving a collective goal. The second group of interactive methods is distinguished on the basis of motivating motives. Interviews aimed at meeting the vocational-value (training-value) needs make up the third group of classification. The fourth is interactive methods aimed at realizing cognitive motives. The fifth group of interactive methods, aimed at satisfying the mercantile motives in the future and synthesizing the previous varieties, is a set of all the above motives. The choice of methods in this category is aimed at a comprehensive realization of all educational needs that will find their way into future activities, including professional ones. In the course of the study, we came to the conclusion that the active use of interactive technologies at a new angle will facilitate the training of motivated and positively oriented students and highly qualified specialists, who are able to integrate theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the future professional activity.

Іn the article the modern scientific researches on building and development of key competencies in theory and practice of pedagogical science are analyzed. The peculiarities of the professional activity of the teacher of biology through the interrelation of his/her informative, developmental, orientation, mobilizing, constructive, communicative, and organizational and research functions are researched. The analysis of modern approaches in the preparation of the future teacher of biology made it possible to determine leading functions in the educational process of a secondary school: informative, developmental, orientation, mobilization, constructive, communicative, and organizational and research. All functions are interrelated; they complement and refine each other.A large number of researchers prove that the competency-based approach most completely reflects the modern processes in European countries.Taking into account the world experience and needs of the development of the Ukrainian school in the domestic pedagogy, three types of competencies characterizing the results of learning on the basis of a competency-based approach are recognized: key, interdisciplinary and knowledge of subject. The notion of "competency-based approach" refers to the orientation of the educational process on the building and development of the key (basic, main) and substantive competencies of the individual. The result of this process will be the formation of a general competence (professionalism) of a person, which is the integrity of key and substantive competencies, an integrated personality trait. Such a characteristic should be formed in the process of learning and  contain knowledge, skills, attitudes, experience, values and behavioural models of personality. The competency-based approach takes special place in the process of building and development of competencies of the future specialist in the system of higher education. In the scientific sense, the concept of "approach" is interpreted as the starting point for forming the basis of research activity. The general idea of a competency-based approach is competence-oriented education, which aims at the complex of knowledge acquisition and methods of practical activity, through which a person successfully implements himself/herself in various fields of life. The most important specificity of the competency-based approach lies in the fact that not the "ready-made knowledge" transmitted by the teacher is assimilated, but "the conditions of the origin of this knowledge are traced".

Professional socialization of future graduates of the pedagogical university is aimed at the formation of competencies essential for the practical activity and solution of vital tasks. One of the components of successful professional activity is the willingness for continuing education. The subject of this research is the phenomenon of continuous pedagogical education as the value. Globalization has encompasses all segments of life of the modern society, including education. The rapidly changing world with its uncertainty imposes new requirements on the system of vocational training. A modern specialist is no longer narrow-focused, but is capable of solving complex and versatile tasks, which is facilitated by constant striving for new knowledge using various forms of learning. However, this is only possible with realization by the individual of the need for continuing education and its utility in different axiological coordinates. For the analysis of axiological basis of continuing education, the author surveyed the students of pedagogical university to determine their perception of continuing education as a personal meaningful value that contributes to the achievement of certain career results. The acquired results on the one hand demonstrate the the vagueness of the concept of “continuing education” for the university students; while on the other hand, prove the hypothesis on the need and importance of continuing education for the pedagogues, but at the same time the unwillingness of the future specialists to consider it as the value of life. The presented materials allow adjusting the educational process of future pedagogues and their motivation for continuing education, since the pedagogical classes to Master’s Degree.

Purpose Futurist Jim Dator provides a personal insight of how he “sees” the past, present, and futures of Hawaiian tourism. The paper aims to discuss this issue. Design/methodology/approach Ian Yeoman interviews one of the world's most prominent and respected futurists, Professor Jim Dator, from the Futures Research Center of the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Political Science Department. Findings Like a climatologist, futurists discuss long‐term futures which are very uncertain, controversial, and often frightening stories. The past tells how the present occurred. Understanding that story is essential before considering the future. The growth of tourism is a fabulous story dependent on many developments whose future is uncertain. The tourism industry may want a “more of the same” trajectory of continued economic growth but a number changes are on the horizon which Dator calls “The Unholy Trinity,” namely the end of cheap and abundant energy; a profoundly unstable environment and a dysfunctional global economic system. Dator concludes that no government now governs satisfactorily, and so the future of tourism is extremely precarious and uncertain. Originality/value The interview provides both insight into how tourism has evolved and foresight of what could occur in the futures. Central to the interview is Dator's identification of the Unholy Trinity, Plus One, that suggests that the future will not neither be like the present nor like the future the tourism industry has hoped for in terms of continued economic growth. The originality and value of Dator's frank views are thought provoking, going beyond present wisdom and comfort.

Methodological approaches to the formation of the local linguistic competence of the future geography teacher in the process of local and tourist work, such as activity, system, personal, technological, are determined. Generally, methodological approaches to the formation of local lore play a role to the development of students' positive motivation in professional activity, cognitive abilities, ability to quickly and easily enrich their knowledge through the conscious use of information flows related to current issues and knowledge in the orientation of the educational process. Formation of local lore should be aimed at mastering students’ personal traits that ensure personality-oriented and harmonious development.
