Translating is a complex and fascinating task, as Richards (1965) once claimed that translating is probably the most complex type of event in the history of the cosmos. In the development of modern translation theories, there is a tendency that culture is introduced into this field. Translating becomes more complex for it has been defined as a cross-cultural communication event, and it involves not only two languages but also two cultures. This shift from emphasis on linguistic transfer towards emphasis on cultural transfer naturally exists in the translation of metaphor. Metaphor is not only an important figure of speech, but also a cognitive means of human mind. The people with different means of thinking have different cultures. The metaphorical language used by people must be fully saturated with culture peculiar to it. So because of the influence of cultural factor, the translation of metaphors becomes the most important particular problem. The paper discusses the reasons for the difficulties of metaphor translation, and summarizes several obstacles of it.

The issue of intercultural communication is gaining relevance because of the process of higher education internationalization. In situations of interpersonal communication, students, representatives of different cultures, define themselves and their ethnic identity. The investigation of students’ efficient and tolerant interaction in the conditions of multicultural learning environments enables the authors of the research to put forward a hypothesis that students’ ethnic identity is closely related to their self-presentation in multicultural groups (Russian, Belorussian, Turkmen, and Indian). The aim of the research is to empirically single out some specific peculiarities of students’ ethnic identity and self-presentation strategies in interpersonal communication. The research defines the content and the interconnection between ethnic identity — positive, nihilist, indifferent, fanatical, selfish — and protective and assertive strategies of students’ self-presentation. The article presents an overview of a self-presentation training course aimed at the correction of nonadaptive means of self-presentation and the formation of efficient strategies of self-presentation in interpersonal communication with representatives of other cultural groups. The results of the research may be useful for specialists in the sphere of cross-cultural communication, ethnic psychology and personal psychology.

When talking about propaganda and cross-cultural communication, there are at least three key words to unravel these issues, namely propaganda, communication, and culture. All of the three have their own meaning and function. Here the need for more in-depth decomposition.Learning cross-cultural communication is necessary because it is a ticket for us to be able to adapt wherever we are, particularly in Indonesia where the various tribes and cultures live together. A prolonged conflict would occur if the person does not understand the differences and does nothing with cross-cultural communication. By studying how to build the cross-cultural communication, people will understand the differences and be neutral or moderate. So the conflict rose among different ethnic cultures will not happen. In addition, studying the cross-cultural communication will make us more cautious in building relationship to the different cultures. Cross-cultural communication is communication between representatives of different cultures, regardless of what field they communicate in. Now, when the mixing of peoples, the interpenetration of languages and cultures, the migration of population flows have reached an unprecedented scale, the problem of coexistence in a multicultural space, the dialogue of cultures, the education of tolerance for foreign cultures, the awakening of interest and respect for them, the overcoming of xenophobia, racism, nationalism and chauvinism is more acute than ever. This is the reason for the general increase in attention to intercultural communication, the study of its linguistic, sociological, psycholinguistic and other aspects. To date, research in the field of intersubject communication has focused on the behavior of people who encounter differences in language activity and the consequences of these differences. Most often, intersubject communication is interpreted as an adequate mutual understanding of communication participants belonging to different national cultures. Cross-cultural communication skills are necessary for those whose professional activities are directly related to the interaction between cultures and are carried out through communication. These include education, socio-political, translation, management, consulting, social work, journalism, business, etc. In recent years, increased interest not only in scientific circles, but also among the general public has attracted the problem of tolerance education. The main reasons for increasing attention to this problem are globalization, migration and socio-economic problems. In these conditions, the priority task is to address the problem of fostering tolerance in the younger generation.

One of the most important national identification indicators is proper names, first of all, names of people (personal names, surnames) and geographical names (toponyms). Currently, there are new trends and directions in the study of onyms. In the context of cross-cultural communication, in the context of the functioning of different languages on the territory of multilingual Kazakhstan, onyms have undergone a number of semantic and structural changes. This article is devoted to the manifestation of the results of globalization and national identity in the modern architectural phenomenon – residential complexes of the city of Almaty. The article focuses on the onomastic identity realized through the names of modern housing complexes (oikodomonyms), which contain valuable and rich ethnolinguistic and historical information reflected in the language consciousness of the people. For this reason, oikodomonyms are qualified as names that make up one of the zones of active intercultural integration, which, performing the function of onomastic identity, can be conductors of national identity. As a result of the analytical review, the need for special attention to oikodomonyms as nominative units that contribute to the revival and preservation of national identity within the framework of the program "Rukhani zhangyru: preserve and increase" is identified and justified.

<p>Metaphor is not only an important figure of speech, but also a cognitive means of the human mind. The people with different means of thinking have different cultures. The metaphorical language used by people must be fully saturated with culture peculiar to it. Metaphor, as a figure of speech, is unavoidably associated with culture due to the relationship of language and culture. As far as the theme of the thesis is concerned, it tries to analyze the cultural factors influencing the formation of metaphor.</p>
