Choosing a university degree is a complex process influenced by different variables. This study reports on the reasons provided by students at the Universitat de València to enrol in the Infant and Primary Education degrees during the last decade. This study also identifies possible differences in the motives over time and depending on the degree and gender. Using as a tool for collecting data a questionnaire adapted from existing research in the Spanish context, the motivations of a total of 769 students of these degrees, collected in three stages, were analysed. The outcome allows us to detect that the motivations of the students to choose this kind of Degrees are fundamentally intrinsic, regardless of the moment, the gender of the participants and the degree. However, extrinsic motivations, which are the second most referred to in the case of men, decrease over time, while transcendent ones, the second most referred to type of motivation by women, increase as the decade progresses. These results can help to understand why the demand for these degrees is high and the dropout rate is very low.

This paper analyzes the relationship between homework behavior and academic achievement using a sample of students from the last three years of primary education. The variables associated with student involvement in homework were the amount of homework completed, the time spent on homework, and homework time optimization, while academic achievement was estimated based on the grades in mathematics and foreign language (english). The possible effect of the course and gender when calculating the level of predictive variables concerning the homework on academic achievement was analyzed. The results indicated that the amount of homework done and the optimization of the time dedicated at homework significantly and positively predicted academic performance in both subjects. However, the amount of time spent on homework was not relevant. Finally, while gender was not statistically significant in predicting academic achievement, the course itself was statistically significant: as the course advances the mathematics achievement tends to diminish.

The study aims to analyze the most relevant results of the research carried out with primary education teachers, with reference to the TPACK model. The objective of this research is to know the self-perception of primary school teachers in service, regarding their technological training, taking as a reference the TPACK diagnostic scale. For the collection of information, a Likert type questionnaire already validated was adapted, following the TPACK model. The questionnaire consists of 47 items that collect information on the seven dimensions of the model. The sample consists of 607 teachers. The research is of a non-experimental descriptive nature, and performs a multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). The most significant results have been the finding of differences regarding the gender of the participants. In general, it is men who have a greater perception of themselves regarding the use and integration of ICTs in their teaching practice, especially in scientific matters. Women seem to be more effective when they select approaches to guide student learning and thinking in terms of reading and writing.

Abstract: School constitutes a space reproducing heteronormative culture and gender patterns, roles, and norms, especially in the area of Physical Education, in which gender is usually a topic taken into account daily. Not all people identify themselves with one of the two socially established sexes: male or female, as they may identify themselves with both or none of them. The purpose of this article is to review the literature in order to explore the incidence of the theme of diversity in gender identity and expression in the Primary Education stage, and specifically in the area of Physical Education. The review was carried out in different databases and sources of international indexing: Dialnet, EBSCO, ERIC, DOAJ, Pubmed, and WOS, as well as in specialized books in fields close to the subject. No data addressing non-binary gender identities in the educational field was found within Primary Education and Physical Education. This shows a current and realistic topic pending to be approached from the educational field.

This study examines intra-generational and intergenerational mobility of employment and income in Vietnam during the 2004–2014 period. It finds there was high mobility across occupations but less mobility across wage-job employment and economic sectors. Upward labour mobility increased over time because of the increase in skilled occupations. The intergenerational elasticity of earnings is estimated at around 0.36. Education plays an important role in increasing intra-generational as well as intergenerational mobility. The earning intergenerational elasticity for children with less than primary education is rather high, at 0.51, while this intergenerational elasticity for those with a college or university degree is much lower at 0.17.

Liking and Usefulness of Mathematics in Primary Education Teacher TrainingIn order to know whether university students doing a Primary Teachers Training Degree like mathematics and consider them useful, 976 students from the second, third and fourth years were asked to complete a Liking and a Usefulness questionnaire across five academic years. The values obtained for the Liking questionnaire are below the neutral value while results for the Usefulness questionnaire are slightly higher, men like mathematics more than women do and both find them equally useful.Handle: http://hdl.handle.net/10481/48172WOS-ESCIScopus record and citations

ABSTRACT The present article tries to recover a dialog, possibly and existing, between the painting and the didactics. Two ways of doing and drawing. The first one on a white linen where to every brushstroke we are giving forms; whereas the second one is carried out in the interior of a classroom or space for the not ruled education. And it is here when the pencilholder of the teacher of primary designs a truth that signs the intention of the didactics: to contribute to the art of teaching everything to all. After an ephemeral revision on painting and education the didactic offer centres for the practice. Accurate area of intervention of the didactic action, which he thinks, feels and acts on and for the student. And painting and didactics give themselves the hands at the moment of a possible valuation and evaluation, to particular level across a personal diary, or thanks to the participative presentations of a blog. Opening a speech for the possibilities of the autoevaluation, coevaluation, heteroevaluation. KEYWORDS: Painting, didactics, primary education, didactic offer. The human face is a popular motif in art and depictions of faces can be found throughout history in nearly every culture. Artists have mastered the depiction of faces after employing careful experimentation using the relatively limited means of paints and oils. Many of the results of these experimentations are now available to the scientific domain due to the digitization of large art collections. In this paper we study the depiction of the face throughout history. We used an automated facial detection network to detect a set of 11,659 faces in 15,534 predominately western artworks, from 6 international, digitized art galleries. We analyzed the pose and color of these faces and related those to changes over time and gender differences. We find a number of previously known conventions, such as the convention of depicting the left cheek for females and vice versa for males, as well as unknown conventions, such as the convention of females to be depicted looking slightly down. Our set of faces will be released to the scientific community for further study.

The main aim of this study is to check whether there are differences in some variables related to attitudes towards math in primary school students according to the course and gender. The sample consists of 897 students of the fifth and sixth year of primary education (50.2% boys and 49.8% girls). The results indicate that the boys, compared to girls, have a higher perceived competence in math, they are more intrinsically motivated extrinsic and exhibit lower levels of anxiety. As for the differences in terms of this variable, the results indicate that students in grade 5 have a higher perceived competence for math, perceive most useful, are more intrinsically motivated to this subject and show anxiety levels and some negative feelings toward the lower than grade 6. Therefore, girls show a "profile" of less adaptive than men conditions, both in terms of their perceived competition as their motivation towards math and also in terms of the emotions associated with this matter. As for the differences depending on the course, students from grade 5 are those with a much more positive attitudinal and motivational conditions than grade 6.

The agritourism activity can be a characteristic reality of the present, considering rural area’s sustainability, being at the same time a business reality for rural entrepreneurs and a “must have” for rural communities that have tourism potential. It is a form of tourism, through which the tourist can receive a qualitative product at a reasonable price, but also a field that can ensure sustainable development over time, being at the same time environmentally friendly. The purpose of this scientific paper is to identify the aspects that make agritourism “a possible business reality of the moment”, for Romanian rural area’s sustainability. We take into account the following areas: Bran-Moieciu area—considered “the oldest” in terms of agritourism experience, and Apuseni Mountains area, with a great inclination and potential for this activity. The study conducted for these two areas is focused on several aspects: the degree of involvement in agritourism activities, considering the number of years and managerial experience, the analysis of the types of activities/experiences offered by agritourism structures, the identification of the main reasons/motivations for the orientation towards agritourism and the manner in which this field is perceived. Aspects related to the marketing-finance part of the agritourism business are also taken into account: customers, distribution channels, financial sources, shortcomings observed by agritourism business owners and possible action directions so as to improve the activity/agritourism product. Agritourism may be “a possible business reality of the moment” for the studied areas and not only, but in the future, the entrepreneur/farmer must be constantly updated because of the changing situations that appear on the market, be able to make sustainable decisions for his/her own business, which in the future will ensure its viability and obviously its long-term profitability and development, and in the same time rural area’s sustainability.
