In this study consumers’ perception of, and purchase intention for genetically modified foods were examined in the city center of Hatay. The data of the 343 surveys were collected by using the face to face interview method. The data were analyzed by means of Likert Scale, and Spearman Correlation Analysis. According to the survey results, consumers’ risk perceptions about genetically modified foods are quite high. Consumers don’t willingly purchase genetically modified foods, and they intend to consume foods grown in traditional methods. ABSTRACTThis article aims to provide some psychological reflexes of a revitalization project entitled "New Light", a district located in the central region of São Paulo / Brazil, through brief sampling of the opinions and feelings expressed by their inhabitants. The study was conducted through qualitative approach and use of descriptive, exploratory and empirical methods. Initially, the research involved searching and reading literature on the history of the neighborhood and its institutions, demographic characteristics and life habits of the population of the city center and in a second step, conducting interviews with residents and workers region and linked to neighborhood people. In this context, the problem ensejador the study was the observation and collection of information on the mode of being, living and socializing in the neighborhood to be modified as well as the exploration of different expectations of its inhabitants as the potential impacts of this project. The theoretical framework was based on the paradox between social instability and psychological aspects of dignity, citizenship and social inclusion of residents of the Luz neighborhood in the face of the project "New Light". The analysis suggests that there is a direct relationship between the general manifestation of feelings of appreciation to the neighborhood and its history, and the insecurity of a confrontational coexistence with the homeless, especially users of "crack", clearly indicating the desire to which they may receive attention and support for their social reintegration.RESUMOO presente artigo tem o objetivo de apresentar alguns reflexos psicológicos de um Projeto de revitalização, intitulado “Nova Luz”, de um bairro situado na região central da cidade de São Paulo/Brasil, por meio de sucinta amostra das opiniões e sentimentos expressos por seus habitantes.

Taiwan’s declining birthrate has changed the housing market, which should become more consumer-oriented in the future. In particular, age-friendly housing has become a salient housing choice among buyers. Age-friendly housing consists of housing units that are suitable for occupants of any age. There are three concepts underlying such housing: aging in place, multigenerational-multiunit living arrangements, and lifetime homes. This study aimed to examine the factors affecting consumers’ choice of age-friendly housing. The participants were residents of Kaohsiung City, and data analysis was performed using a binary logistic model. The empirical results indicated that adult sons/daughters, residents who currently live in the city center, residents who have a high or medium monthly family income, residents who are currently part of a stem family, residents who desire to live under multigenerational-multiunit living arrangements, residents who desire to be a part of a stem family, and residents who prioritize housing type when house-buying are significantly more likely to choose age-friendly housing. These results can serve as a reference regarding age-friendly housing investments for investors, as well as for house buyers who are deliberating between age-friendly housing and ordinary housing.

Aristolochic acids (AA) are phytochemicals found in plants of the genus Aristolochia belonging to the family Aristolochiaceae. These compounds bear a nitrophenanthrene carboxylic acid skeleton and are reported to be carcinogenic, mutagenic, and nephrotoxic. Sugar cane spirit infusions containing Aristolochia species are commonly used in Brazil as popular drinks, in total absence of scientific information. The presence aristolochic acids was confirmed in samples collected in popular markets of the city of Aracaju, Sergipe, Brazil. The aristolochic acids quantitative estimation was made in five samples of sugar cane spirit infusions obtained from different places of that city and were performed by high-performance liquid chromatography. The samples analyzed contained aristolochic acids I and II in concentrations ranging between 1.96 and 6.10 µg/ml for AA I and 2.22 and 11.55 µg/ml for AA II. The immediate banning of such popular drinks is recommended in view of the danger to ingest aristolochic acids, botanical products containing aristolochic acids or herbal products containing plants belonging to Aristolochiaceae family.
