This study intends to: (i) analyze the forms of adverbial phrases and their translation found in the data source, (ii) analyze the types of translation shifts of adverbial phrases in the translation process from the source language into the target language. This research study focuses on English adverbial phrase and their translations into Indonesian found in the story entitled “Houseboy and Maid.” This study aims to discover the forms of adverbial phrases found in the story “Houseboy and Maid” and the types of translation shifts in the translation process. In analyzing the data, the analysis uses the theory of adverbial phrase proposed by Brown and Miller (1991) and the theory of translation shift submitted by Catford (1965). Analyzing the data was started by reading the entire data source to understand the story and observe the possibility of the data source that it can take from the report entitled “Houseboy and Maid.” The method of collecting data is first; the data source is read to find out the forms of English adverbial phrases in syntactic structure. This research shows that most of the English adverbial phrase is translated into Indonesian using the theory of unit shifts and design proposed by Catford (1965). There are some forms of adverbial phrases found in the data source.

<p>This research explains the categories and syntactic roles of Arabic in the book <em>Nashâ? Iħul-ʕIbâd</em> by Syekh Nawawi Al-Bantani based on the theory of roles and references grammar. This research is a descriptive qualitative with a purposive sampling method of presenting data that is separated from 112 data. The research method used in this study is the Agih method with basic techniques for direct elements using advanced techniques in the form of markup reading techniques on lingual element in Arabic grammar. The theory for determining the accusative adjunct markers of Arabic used is Valin's (1993) role and reference grammar theory using Kroeger's (2005) definition to look for core and peripheral elements in sentences. This research has found that the word categories of accusative adjunct can be the noun 'ism', the determiner 'muhaddad', the adjective 'naʕt', the adverb 'dharf', and the negation 'nafi', while the phrase category is the nominal phrase 'al-ʕibarah. al-ismiyyah ', the adverbial phrase 'al-ʕibarah adh-dharfiyyah ', and the adjective phrase' al-ʕibarah an-naʕʈiyyah '. In terms of the role of grammar syntax role and reference, adjunct can have any function as a clause modifier with evidential functions, as a core modifier with a function of manner, place, location, cause, and quantity, and also as a nucleus modifier with a affirmating function.</p>

As regards the previous research conducted on the topic of de construction, it is doubted whether adjectival and adverbial phrases in Mandarin need a specifier. Thus, I seek a new perspective on de pattern for its syntactic role when it appears together with adjectives and adverbs. Since my view on the syntactic category of de may differ from many previous studies, I will adopt Chomsky’s X-bar theory and assume that de may be the specifier of the maximal projection adjectival phrase (AP) and adverbial phrase (AdvP). A crosslinguistic analysis will be provided and a discussion on how de functions within the phrase is set up. In addition, I suggest a hypothesis that the internal structure of AP and AdvP may be more flexible due to an effect created by the occurrence of de and the force may cause a semantic emphasis shift to the modifiers.

Most mental health questionnaires only probe behavior and emotion over one domain (e.g., frequency) by using an adverbial phrase such as 'How often...?'. This single-domain approach to behavior sampling may limit the scope of psychiatric evidence that these instruments can capture. We investigated whether adding domains such as intensity, duration, ability and context to mental health survey instruments garner responses that better characterize or measure relevant symptoms or behaviors, testing its association with relevant outcomes. We tested whether our multidomain instrument could be associated with hospitalization, self-harm, education, and disability. 1,504 participants took an augmented version of the SWAN questionnaire (‘SWAN+’), where 4 domains were added to the ability domain already present (frequency, duration, intensity, and context). First, we used structural equation models and the tri-factor modelling to analyze if the latent construct of domains was independently associated with the outcomes. Our results suggest that adding domains such as frequency and context could help characterize disability beyond the domain originally probed by the SWAN questionnaire. Different domains had different predictive effects across outcomes measured in the study. We also complemented results from the tri-factor modelling with a more classical approach, by performing regressions on the summed scores on each domain and the entire scale, adjusted by age and gender. Second, analyses were performed to identify the best predictor domain within each question to predict disability. Significant results were found for the ability and context domains on practically all questions (p&lt;0.001), revealing that they are important for almost all questions, whereas frequency is predictive for only a subset of them. This confirmed the results of the tri-factor analysis demonstrating the clinical utility of our findings. It also indicated that context is more predictive than frequency, that ability and context should be uniformly applied, and that the ubiquitous frequency phrasing is not uniformly as informative in our study.Overall, our results suggest that the ‘multidomain’ approach to questionnaires may improve inferences about mental health and predictions of functional outcomes. Framing questions using appropriate and relevant domains seems critical to measure psychopathology adequately, as opposed to asking solely about the frequency or recurrence of any given symptom.

This study focuses on the survey of frequency and occurrence of phrase structure rules used in the written and oral mode of first year tertiary ESL students. It describes the sentence-embedded structures namely, nominal, adjectival and adverbial. As far as phrase structure rules are concerned, the constituents of the noun phrase, verb phrase, adjectival phrase and adverbial phrase are given structural labels. The researcher made use of the quantitative description of the oral and written structures of 76 first year students enrolled in a language class. The results of the study show that majority of the students write their essay using nominals followed by adverbials and the least used are adjectivals. In the oral mode, the most commonly used phrase structure rules are adverbials, followed by nominals and the least used are adjectivals. Though students have a good command of English in writing and speaking, they should be exposed to different communicative situations and develop a balanced style in expressing meaning using varied grammatical structures.

This article aims to analyze the monofinite complex clause in the Kumyk language in terms of structure. The originality of the research lies in the fact that the article proposes a different approach than in Russian studies on the analysis of the syntactic structure of a sentence. The relevance of the research is determined by the role of the sentence structure and methods of its study in linguistics in general. The main method used in the study is the method of syntactic modeling, which is used in terms of functions (members of a sentence), in terms of morphological forms of words and the semantic structure of a sentence. Turkic languages are not characterized by properly complex sentences with two formally independent finite parts connected by an analytical form. Case affixes and postpositions form not finite verb forms, but infinite verb forms. Such constructions in agglutinative languages are central and most frequent. The monofinite complex clause, or a sentence complicated by an infinite phrase (participial and adverbial phrase), or “polypredicative construction” according to the Novosibirsk syntactic school is investigated in this article. The author argues that when characterizing a complex clause, it is necessary to take into account such parameters as the finiteness / infiniteness of the dependent predicate, the nature of the means of communication and the referential identity / non-identity of the subjects of the main and dependent parts. The constructive center of a monofinite complex clause is the indicator of connection –analytical, that is, an auxiliary word, or synthetic, that is, a morpheme in the composition of a dependent predicate. Formally, this is a part of the infinite form of such a predicate, but functionally it serves to express the relationship between the predicative parts. Since the dependent predicate in the Kumyk language occupies the final position in the dependent predicative unit, the synthetic link indicator is located on the border between the main predicative unit and the dependent predicative unit.

Roughly speaking, only four syntactic roles can be distinguished for a noun phrase: subject, object, adverbial phrase, and predicate in a verbal sentence the predicate is a verb, in a nominal sentence it is a noun phrase, and in an existential sentence it is either var or yok. In a verbal sentence one or more objects may occur, depending on the type of verb, transitive or intransitive. Other sentence types do not allow for objects, but all types must have a subject, while one or more adverbial phrases are optional. All this forms the main topic of this top of that, it is explained how noun phrases are applied in genitive-possessive constructions.

As function words postpositions play a very important role in the syntax of Turkish. These elements are regarded as lexical items conveying some kind of abstract meaning relevant for their complement. Most postpositions require the complement to take a fixed case marker; thereby excluding the accusative. A postposition plus its complement is called a postpositional phrase and functions as an adverbial phrase. There are various postpositions expressing spatial relations such as direction and location, another small group expresses temporal relations such as beginning, duration, end, and also excess, but a sizeable series of notions can be expressed by one particular postposition only: instrument, company, means of transportation, quality, quantity, inclusion, exclusion, difference, and the like. The final section describes the nominal and adjectival properties of a small number of postpositions.

The novel the Good Earth is one of the popular novels that tell the story about Chinese culture. Some sentences contain an adverb of manner and its translation from English into Indonesian. The text is analyzed and viewed to find the translation of the adverb of manner. The purpose of this study is to analyze the source translation and get the meaning and its sentence. As we know that an adverb is a word that changes the meaning of a verb, adjective, and a sentence. Adverbs are words like hurriedly, quickly, slowly, and instantly. It modifies a verb or verb phrase. An adverb gives information about the manner, time, place, frequency, or certainty. Adverbials are words groups in which an adverbial phrase tells us something about the verb. They could be taken in the forms of adverbs, adverb phrases, temporal noun phrases or prepositional phrases. Some classifications of adverbial are found in the novel. It is called adverbial of manner. The research aims to find out the translation of manner adverb. The theory used is Brown and Miller (1992) describing that adverb of manner indicating how the event described by the verb.
