Background: No studies have compared early vs conventional postoperative weightbearing following suture bridge Achilles tendon reattachment. We, therefore, evaluated postoperative functional outcomes in these patients. Methods: We collected data on 49 patients who underwent surgical treatment of insertional Achilles tendinopathy using a central Achilles tendon-splitting approach and reattachment with suture bridge technique by a single surgeon. Functional outcomes were measured by a visual analog scale (VAS) for pain, Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM), and Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) at 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively. The differences in outcomes were analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results: Eighteen and 31 patients underwent the conventional and accelerated protocols, respectively; their corresponding mean ages were similar, 53 and 57 years, as were all other baseline characteristics. The mean scores (conventional vs accelerated group) for VAS for pain, FAAM, and SF-36 in the conventional group at 3 months postoperatively were 4 ± 1 vs 3 ± 1 points, 53 ± 8 vs 68 ± 3 points, and 57 ± 15 vs 67 ± 10 points ( P < .05 for each comparison). There were no statistically significant differences between the groups at 6 and 12 months postoperatively. All patients could perform the single heel raise test at 6 months, and none experienced complications. Conclusion: In this small study, short-term functional outcomes were better in the accelerated group. More data are needed before the accelerated program can be recommended. Level of Evidence: Level II, prospective comparative study.

A B S T R A C TIntroduction. The Acceleration Program and the International Standard School PilotProject (RSBI) are currently being held in Indonesia. Previous research stated thatthe anxiety of students with acceleration was higher than that of non-acceleratedstudents (regular). Currently, the regular program has mainly been replaced by theRSBI program. This research was conducted to determine differences in the level ofanxiety of students who take the accelerated program and the RSBI program.Methods. The study was conducted using a cross-sectional method, and thesampling was determined by purposive sampling. This study took the population ofstudents of Junior High School 1 Purwokerto. Primary data were collected in the formof friendship quality questionnaires, Rahe-Holmes Social Readjustment Rating Scalelife events questionnaire, body image questionnaire (Body Shape Questionnaire) andTMAS anxiety questionnaire (Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale). Results. Acceleratedstudents who experienced anxiety above the average were 8 (40%) students and 12(60%) students experienced anxiety below average. Non-accelerated students (RSBI)who experienced anxiety above the average were 15 (75%) students and 5 (25%)students experienced anxiety below average. Conclusion. There is a significantdifference in the level of anxiety of students who take the acceleration program andRSBI, where the anxiety of RSBI students is more than that of accelerated students.

AbstractFreeSurfer is among the most widely used suites of software for the study of cortical and subcortical brain anatomy. However, analysis using FreeSurfer can be time-consuming and it lacks support for the graphics processing units (GPUs) after the core development team stopped maintaining GPU-accelerated versions due to significant programming cost. As FreeSurfer is a large project with millions of source lines, in this work, we introduce and examine the use of a directive-based framework, OpenACC, in GPU acceleration of FreeSurfer, and we found the OpenACC-based approach significantly reduces programming costs. Moreover, because the overhead incurred by CPU-to-GPU data transfer is the major challenge in delivering GPU-based codes of high performance, we compare two schemes, copy- and-transfer and overlapped-fully-transfer, to reduce such data transfer overhead. Exper-imental results show that the target function we accelerated with overlapped-fully-transfer scheme ran 2.3 as fast as the original CPU-based function, and the GPU-accelerated program achieved an average speedup of 1.2 compared to the original CPU-based program. These results demonstrate the usefulness and potential of utilizing the proposed OpenACC-based approach to integrate GPU support for FreeSurfer which can be easily extended to other computationally expensive functions and modules of FreeSurfer to achieve further speedup.

Background: Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder with high incidence in Thailand. Its treatment includes blood transfusion and iron chelating therapy for life long that lead to high cost. Therefore, effective screening processes are required to prevent the newborn with thalassemia. Objective: To determine the cost-effectiveness of prenatal screening program for thalassemia between a semi-accelerated screening program and the current program. Methods: Decision tree model was developed under provider perspective. Cost, effectiveness and probabilities data were from literature review. One-way sensitivity analysis was performed to explore around inputs in the model. Results: The expected costs of the semi-accelerated screening program and the current program were ฿609.29 and ฿462.44, respectively. The expected outcomes to detect a severe thalassemia in fetuses from the semi-accelerated program and the current program is 34 cases and 8 cases in 10 000 couples, respectively. Incremental cost-effectiveness ratio was ฿57 499.80 per case detected. Conclusions: The expected costs of the semi-accelerated screening program was higher than the current programs, but the number of fetuses with thalassemia detected from the semi-accelerated screening program was more than the current programs.

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic religious education learning in a school that has an accelerated program. In the learning process there are three important aspects namely learning planning, learning implementation, and learning evaluation. The method used in this research is descriptive method through a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques through direct observation, interviews, study documentation, and triagulation. Data analysis techniques by data reduction, data exposure, drawing conclusions and verification. Based on the results of the discussion of Islamic religious education learning in Ar-Rafi Baleendah Elementary School the planning of learning is textually the same as in regular elementary schools in general. While the implementation of learning is carried out by way of more emphasis on essential and non-essential material. While for the evaluation of learning there is a difference in time to complete education for gifted children is faster than regular children in general, which is five years as programmed. The implication, Islamic religious education teachers must be able to combine in terms of planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning that can develop the potential of gifted students towards noble human beings. Not only with cognitive mastery, but also the need for affection and psychomotor optimally.

“Kota Tanpa Kumuh” (KOTAKU) program is an advanced program of National Community Empowerment Program of Urban Mandiri that has accelerated program for handling urban slums and reducing poverty and so KOTAKU provides access to financial services for poor households by market – based micro loans with many activities which generate income that usually don’t have any access to other loan sources, to improve their economic conditions and activities those support economic growth and micro business , besides that teach them in managing loans and use it correctly.nevertheless, KOTAKU isn’t micro finance program, KOTAKU role only builds sustainable basic solutions for loan services and non – loan services at the “kelurahan” level. This research goal is to describe whether internal control system credit application applied to KOTAKU has been in accordance with the elements of internal control based on Committee Of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO). The method was used in this research is qualitative method, qualitative method is usually called as naturalistic research method because the research was conducted in the natural conditions, it’s also called as ethnography method, because in the beginning, this method is more widely used for research in cultural anthropology, it’s called as qualitative research because data have been collected and its analysis is more qualitative. The finding results is rolling loan lending system that is conducted by KOTAKU has completed internal controlling aspects based on COSO, except control activities components in the elements of separation of duties, namely lending isn’t separate from the loan inspection , and supervision component on the element of internal auditing that is internal which is not separate by LKM. And the recommendation can be given those are (1) giving and checking loans, and (2) internal auditing should be separated by LKM officer so that there is no collusion and irregulaties.
