Abstract: The importance of complementary foods as complementary feeding for babies has become breastfeeding mother’s common knowledge. Impaired growth and development of infants and children aged 12-24 months is the low quality of complementary foods caused by unsanitary storage areas and uncontrolled temperatures. Therefore, a research was made in the form of designing a complementary food warmer box which aims to maintain the quality of complementary foods for breastfeeding, especially for career women who spend most of their time outside the home and not with babies. The MPASI heating box is made using a Peltier module with a thermoelectric working concept powered by an electric current or battery so that it can be used anywhere and anytime.            Keywords: MPASI; Thermal Sensor; Thermoelectric; Warming Box  Abstrak: Pentingnya MPASI sebagai asupan pendamping bayi sudah menjadi pengetahuan umum setiap ibu menyusui.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the validation of the usefulness of cooling systems containing Peltier modules for cooling power devices based on measurements of the influence of selected factors on the value of thermal resistance of such a cooling system. Design/methodology/approach A cooling system containing a heat-sink, a Peltier module and a fan was built by the authors and the measurements of temperatures and thermal resistance in various supply conditions of the Peltier module and the fan were carried out and discussed. Findings Conclusions from the research carried out answer the question if the use of Peltier modules in active cooling systems provides any benefits comparing with cooling systems containing just passive heat-sinks or conventional active heat-sinks constructed of a heat-sink and a fan. Research limitations/implications The research carried out is the preliminary stage to asses if a compact thermal model of the investigated cooling system can be formulated. Originality/value In the paper, the original results of measurements and calculations of parameters of a cooling system containing a Peltier module and an active heat-sink are presented and discussed. An influence of power dissipated in the components of the cooling system on its efficiency is investigated.

We investigated the results of the cooling performance of the pulsating water/nanofluids flowing in the thermoelectric cooling module for cooling electric vehicle battery systems. The experimental system was designed and constructed to consider the effects of the water block configuration, hot and cold side flow rates, supplied power input, and coolant types on the cooling performance of the thermoelectric module. The measured results from the present study with the Peltier module are verified against those without the thermoelectric module. Before entering the electric vehicle battering system with a Peltier module, the inlet coolant temperatures were 2.5-3.5℃ lower than those without the thermoelectric system. On the hot side, the maximum COP of the thermoelectric cooling module was 1.10 and 1.30 for water and nanofluids as coolant, respectively. The results obtained from the present approach can be used to optimize the battery cooling technique to operate in an appropriate temperature range for getting higher energy storage, durability, lifecycles, and efficiency.

This paper presents a CFD and experimental study of the thermal behavior of the thermoelectric-compartment in a hybrid household-refrigerator that combines thermoelectric and vapor-compression technologies. The hybrid refrigerator has three compartments. One of them is driven by a thermoelectric cooling system, which was made of one Peltier module and two fan-cooled heat sinks mounted on the hot and cold sides. The simulation results were compared with experimental measurements and showed a good agreement. The performance of the thermoelectric refrigerator was tested with changing the pushing direction. Two pushing directions for the fan were examined. In the first one (direction-I), the fan was fixed such that it sucked the air beside the cold heat sink. While in the second direction (direction-II), the fan was assumed to be flipped to push the air over the cold-side heat sink. The results showed that the second fan direction (direction-II) is more effective for heat transfer mechanism between the cold-side heat sink and the inside air of the thermoelectric-compartment.

The imitation of pain sensation in Virtual Reality is considered valuable for safety education and training but has been seldom studied. This paper presents Douleur, a wearable haptic device that renders intensity-adjustable pain sensations with chemical stimulants. Different from mechanical, thermal, or electric stimulation, chemical-induced pain is more close to burning sensations and long-lasting. Douleur consists of a microfluidic platform that precisely emits capsaicin onto the skin and a microneedling component to help the stimulant penetrate the epidermis layer to activate the trigeminal nerve efficiently. Moreover, it embeds a Peltier module to apply the heating or cooling stimulus to the affected area to adjust the level of pain on the skin. To better understand how people would react to the chemical stimulant, we conducted a first study to quantify the enhancement of the sensation by changing the capsaicin concentration, skin temperature, and time and to determine suitable capsaicin concentration levels. In the second study, we demonstrated that Douleur could render a variety of pain sensations in corresponding virtual reality applications. In sum, Douleur is the first wearable prototype that leverages a combination of capsaicin and Peltier to induce rich pain sensations and opens up a wide range of applications for safety education and more.

The paper presents some investigation results on the properties of forced cooling systems dedicated to electronic devices. Different structures of such systems, including Peltier modules, heat sinks, fans, and thermal interfaces, are considered. Compact thermal models of such systems are formulated. These models take into account a multipath heat transfer and make it possible to compute waveforms of the device’s internal temperature at selected values of the power dissipated in the device. The analytical formulas describing the dependences of the thermal resistance of electronic devices co-operating with the considered cooling systems on the power dissipated in the cooled electronic device and the power feeding the Peltier module and the speed of airflow caused by a fan are proposed. The correctness of the proposed models is verified experimentally in a wide range of powers dissipated in electronic devices operating in different configurations of the used cooling system.

Abstract: The importance of breast milk as the main intake of the baby has become common knowledge for every breastfeeding mother. Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended by the government and WHO for breastfeeding mothers until the baby is two years old. The main obstacle to exclusive breastfeeding for babies is generally caused by the short resistance of breast milk to temperature factors, where breast milk can only last for less than four hours at room temperature. Therefore, a study was made in the form of a portable refrigerator design which aims to make breastfeeding mothers able to store breast milk longer, especially for career women who spend part of their time outside the home and not with babies. The refrigerator is made using a Peltier module with a thermoelectric working concept that is powered by an electric current or a battery so that it can be taken on trips.            Keywords: Arduino; Breast Milk; Cooler; Peltier; Thermoelectric  Abstrak: Pentingnya ASI sebagai asupan utama bayi telah menjadi pengetahuan umum bagi setiap ibu menyusui.
