From the geo-economic standpoint, a power may avail itself of a spectrum of constraining measures against a hostile or dangerous nation - measures ranging from sanctions, boycotts to embargos and blockades, which last represent the ultimate form of economic pressure to which an adversary may be subjected. Because they are an extreme type of economic banishment, their imposition reveals the physiognomy of the power struggle; and, because they obstruct the free flow of goods, they also appear to be an ephemeral anomaly within the Liberal world order. Yet, their incumbency in the game is a reflection of geo-economic complexity. Whether enacted to great fanfare or not, blockades freeze some transactions while generating business opportunities elsewhere. And while an activity momentarily stilled in one zone may be reshaped to the advantage of another, blockades still allow their instigators to zero in on key sectors of the enemy's economy without endangering the country's survival. Thus, we can see blockades as an economic and military measure serving imperial ends. This essay succinctly reviews the history of famous blockades and garners the core economic lessons one may learn from them.

Abstract This study aims at developing an innovative and sustainable 3D truss system that can be applied in a variety of scenarios where intermediary propping is a hindrance. One prominent and pertinent application of such a system is in archaeological sites where long spans and no intermediary propping are desired. Previous research and studies have developed an innovative 3D steel truss for the same application. This study aims to further the innovation by providing a more sustainable alternative through Glulam and Glulam-Bamboo hybrid variations which are able to withstand similar loads as that of the steel truss but offering more sustainability and less impact on the environment as well as a light weight alternative. The results of such an alternative truss system are discussed here. One obvious problem faced with the alternative wood system was the large deflections observed and also certain regions with impermissible stresses. In addition, the proposed joint in the Glulam truss has been modelled and analyzed. It was found that the Glulam truss with lateral restraints at every quarter length of the span showed the best results in terms of deflection and stress developed. Also, the Glulam-Bamboo hybrid truss without any lateral restraints proved to be an equally effective alternative from a structural standpoint. The proposed joint system for the glulam truss also proved to be effective. The study concludes with a cost benefit analysis (CBA) between the steel, glulam and Glulam-Bamboo hybrid systems, which compares the viability of the proposed designs from an economic standpoint. The CBA shows that about 46% and 48% of costs are minimized on employing Glulam, Glulam- Bamboo respectively, instead of using Steel for the truss.

The textile industry including batik has provided broad benefits to society from an economic standpoint. However, there is negative impact from wastewater generated in the production process, which is containing dyes. Various types of dyes are used in the coloring process, and methylene blue is one of most used dye. Various ways have been done to treat wastewater containing methylene blue. Methylene blue processing techniques by adsorption have been carried out with various types of adsorbents. Research on the comparison of the ability of commercial activated charcoal and commercial activated zeolite to adsorb methylene blue was carried out with the addition of an Fe catalyst and a hydrogen peroxide oxidizer. The results showed that the addition of Fe catalyst would increase the degradation of methylene blue in the waste either with activated charcoal or activated zeolite. The combination of using Fe catalyst and hydrogen peroxide oxidizer further increases the removal of methylene blue in both types of adsorbents, activated charcoal and activated zeolite. Activated zeolite has the better ability to adsorb methylene blue than activated charcoal under various conditions.

The relevance of the subject matter is conditioned by the need to fully justify the implementation of modifications to the structures of transport aircraft from an economic standpoint, in order to save money during their construction and improve the functioning of the system for planning further design developments in this line. The purpose of this study is to establish a coherent model of the economic feasibility of aircraft modifications, which allows effectively solving the issues of cost savings in their design and subsequent launch into mass production and operation. The leading approach in this study is a combination of analytical research of the issues of transport aircraft modification with empirical research of the economic feasibility of such measures, in the context of creating a coherent concept of the need for a set of measures to improve the structure of air transport. The findings indicate the presence of a clear relationship between a wide range of parameters that determine the indicators of economic feasibility of modernizing transport aircraft, as well as significant economic advantages of a high-quality modification of the aircraft design.

The application of capital punishment itself has been regulated in Indonesia as contained in the law. Article 2 paragraph (2) of Corruption Act concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes. According to Romli Atmasasmita, it was argued that the death penalty for corruptors was effectively implemented in the People's Republic of China (PRC), and it was quite successful to reduce corruption. This certainly can be used as an example in Indonesia in imposing capital punishment for corruptors. The imposition of capital punishment for perpetrators of corruption is urgently needed as "shock therapy" because psychologically the death penalty aims for the benefit of general prevention so that others do not participate in committing crimes. Also, the application of capital punishment is based on the reason that capital punishment is more certain than the prison sentence because the prison sentence is often followed by running away, forgiveness, or because of the release. When compared from an economic standpoint, basically the death sentence is more efficient when compared to life imprisonment. As for the problems that can be formulated, namely: legal arrangements regarding corruption in the Corruption Act; the application of capital punishment sanctions against perpetrators of corruption in Indonesia. The results of the study show that: Corruption is a type of extraordinary crime ("extra-ordinary crime") that must be handled extraordinarily, so that the act is contrary to the 1945 Constitution, therefore it does not need to be protected by the 1945 Constitution. accommodated in Article 2 paragraph (2) of the Corruption Act, must meet the requirements "in certain circumstances" by the Elucidation of Article 2 paragraph (2), but its application has never been implemented, so it is necessary to review the rules "in certain circumstances".

Copyright as an exclusive right for the creator or copyright holder to carry out the results of his ideas or ideas in the form of specific information or certain. Basically, copyright is the right to copy, adapt or produce a work, copyright is possible for the right holder to limit the copying or in any form without the illegitimate permission of a work, it can be realized by registration copyright, in its application, of course, there are obstacles that exist in the enforcement of copyright law itself. One example is the lack of awareness in registration copyright of songs by the creator. The research objective was to determine and analyze the legal awareness of regional pop songwriters to register their copyright. The research method uses normative research through a conceptual approach and a statue approach. The results show that the composers of regional pop songs know the importance of recording copyright because it is in accordance with the mandate of Act No. 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright and has also participated in the socialization carried out by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, but songwriters do not record their work. Some songwriters consider that the registration is of no use because, from an economic standpoint, they cannot profit or lose personally, besides that their aspirations have not been fully channeled by the related institutions they shelter in this case the Collective Management Institute. Therefore to decide on the sale of the song's copyrighted work rather than registering it to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in the Field of Intellectual Property.

From an economic standpoint, pineapple (Ananas comosus) is one of the most important fruits in Colombia. A decade ago, the Perolera variety was the most cropped cultivar of the Santander department, however, the variety has been displaced considerably due to the lack of technical extension services and theintroduction of new varieties. This research project was carried out with the intention to conserve the speciesthrough the development of in vitro pineapple explants using the organogenesis technique. Meristemsthat have been extracted from the crown of the Perolera pineapple variety were used for this purpose. Four disinfectant treatments were evaluated by looking at the different kinds of disinfectant exposure times. The treatment that gave the best results in terms of contaminant-free explants was the T2: Commercialdetergent + Tween 80 for 8 minutes, ethyl alcohol at 70% for 1 minute and sodium hypochlorite at 1,5% over10 minutes, with a contamination rate of 7% and 93% of the explants thriving. For the establishment phase,it was found that the medium MS MEP1 with 100% solid salts supplemented with 2000 ul/L BAP - 1000 ul/L ANA - 1000 ul/L AIA and 500 ul/L thiamine enabled 90 % of the pineapple explants to continue developing four weeks after planting. Similarly, the medium containing 3000 ul/L of BAP for the multiplication phase permitted an average proliferation of 4.62 shoots with 9.12 leaves per shoot and a length of 2.25 mm.
