Background Young individuals with visual impairment (VI), exposed to higher risky of social exclusion, might be more prone to Internet risky behaviours including electronic aggression. Objective Different types of Internet risky behaviours and the average time spent online were investigated among students with VI. These behaviours were analyzed for the relationship with witnessing, perpetrating and becoming a victim of electronic aggression. Methods A total of 490 special needs school students with VI answered a self-administered questionnaire. The average time spent online, different types of risky Internet activities and electronic aggression were recorded, as well as sociodemographic characteristics. Results Male students downloaded software illegally, hacked, published and viewed sites with sexual content, and gambled online statistically more often than female counterparts. Concerning electronic aggression, more than half of participants were engaged as witnesses, every fifth student as a victim and 11.6% as perpetrators. Two sets of ordinal logistic regression analyses have shown that communication with a person promoting violence and an excessive amount of time spent online during weekends predicted significantly the risk of witnessing and being a victim of electronic aggression. Additionally, communicating with a person promoting violence and an excessive amount of time spent online during schooldays were associated with increased odds for engagement in electronic aggression as a perpetrator. Conclusions Population with VI is prone to risky Internet use and likely to be engaged in electronic aggression. New instruments and preventive strategies need to be developed, as well as diagnostic tools tailored specifically to the needs of young people with VI.

The results of studies of the synthesis processes of baddeleyite-zircon ceramics based on fluorinated plasmadissociated and natural zircon are presented. It was found that to obtain densely sintered ceramics based on fluorinated natural zircon, the introduction of CaO is required to stabilize free ZrO2 in the composition of the ceramics. The introduction of Y2O3 into the composition of ceramics based on plasma-dissociated zircon makes it possible to reduce the sintering temperature from 1600 to 1500 °C. It is difficult to obtain ceramics based on plasmadissociated zircon with a high degree of fluorination due to the formation of an excessive amount of ZrF4.

Nowadays the institution of the School is being questioned by some critical sectors of society who, by drawing on the explanatory framework put forward by the so-called deschooling theories, are able to organize themselves and create citizen networks in order to provide privately for the education of their children within specific organizational and pedagogical models. The purpose of this case study is to identify the organizational model (defined by its mission, vision and values) used in an alternative education project for pre-primary school education with the aim of reflecting on its pedagogical and organizational implications. We conclude by pointing out that there exists an excessive amount of confidence in the context’s educational potential based on the interests and motivations of the learners. In addition, the capacity for pedagogical and organizational innovation of the State education system is underestimated. There is, furthermore, a need to establish mechanisms capable of improving participation. Finally, the claim, perhaps unrealistic, of maintaining a certain ideological neutrality in the project is also observed.

The figure of Baudelaire could be argued to have been conscripted into an excessive amount of paradigmatic constructions over the years. He becomes the name, or cultural face, of a moving configuration of essential problems in discussions of artistic work and subjectivity, and of the ‘modern regime’ – separately and in conjunction. This article analyzes Baudelaire’s afterlife as a mythological one and examines how, across a selection of ‘moments’ over the past three-quarters of a century, the pre-eminence of that figure can come to obscure the traces of a lived – synchronous – process in the oeuvre. Our ability to reconnect with those traces, it seeks to suggest, is key to an understanding of the continued ability of the Baudelaire figure to address our contemporary scene. Moving from Bourdieu’s construction of Baudelaire as nomothète in his sociology of the literary field, it revisits rival co-optations by Jouve and Sartre, in the service of aesthetic and critical ethical accounts respectively, before examining instances of the interweaving of these strands in a brief survey of broadly contemporary work. This survey concludes with a more extended focus on work by contemporary poet Cédric Demangeot, and suggests that the ‘poetic margin’ is where Baudelaire’s powerfully integrated navigation of the adversities of life and of art continues to resonate with greatest urgency.

The effect of ion doping and the incorporation of additives on photocatalysts’ textural properties have been reviewed. Generally, it can be summarised that ion doping and additives have beneficial effects on photocatalytic efficiency and not all have an increase in the surface area. The excessive amount of dopants and additives will produce larger aggregated particles and also cover the mesoporous structures, thereby increasing the pore size (Pd) and pore volume (Pv). An excessive amount of dopants also leads to visible light shielding effects, thus influence photocatalytic performance. Ion doping also shows some increment in the surface areas, but it has been identified that synergistic effects of the surface area, porosity, and dopant amount contribute to the photocatalytic performance. It is therefore important to understand the effect of doping and the application of additives on the textural properties of photocatalysts, thus, their performance. This review will provide an insight into the development of photocatalyst with better performance for wastewater treatment applications.

A beloved, respected, and highly accomplished superintendent in a rural, high-risk district, Mr. Carroll, is confronted with dissident board members for the first time in his 7-year tenure. Two newly elected members have strained relationships between current board members and are calling for his resignation based upon what they perceive as low SAT scores, the excessive amount of Carroll’s salary, and the district’s focus on academic growth, rather than achievement, of students. Despite mediation from the state aimed at easing tensions on both sides, the issue reaches a boiling point at a board meeting.

A gluten-free diet provides relief from symptoms for patients with celiac disease, although there is still a risk of nutritional deficiencies. These patients can potentially consume an excessive amount of fat and insufficient amounts of fiber, iron, vitamin D, and calcium. This study aimed to assess the knowledge of medical students and healthcare professionals in Poland regarding nutritional deficiencies and the prevention of such deficiencies in patients with celiac disease who are on a gluten-free diet. Of the 430 survey participants, 46% did not realize the risk of nutritional deficiencies in patients with celiac disease. The knowledge of the participants was lowest regarding the risk of being overweight or obese. Among the healthcare professionals, an acceptable level of correct answers was provided by only 37% of individuals and was highest for the dietitians’ group. Our results demonstrate the need to improve the education of healthcare professionals concerning nutrition in patients with celiac disease.

Although Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) can be used as a raw material for biodiesel production, the POME contains an excessive amount of Free Fatty Acids (FFA), necessitating a preliminary process and esterification. POME is degummed using phosphate acid and bleached with carbon active. Additionally, this study used KOH-impregnated zeolite to reduce FFA. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of adding impregnated zeolite on esterification. POME was heated to 600C for 30 minutes, then degumming with 3 % of phosphate acid for 30 minutes, followed by bleaching with carbon active with a comparison ratio of 8:3 at 1000C for 1 hour, and finally, esterification with 3 percent impregnated zeolite from the POME weight at 600C for 4 hours. The analysis was conducted using titration methods to determine the FFA of each esterification. The data will be compared between zeolite and non-zeolite degumming, bleaching, and esterification. The results indicated that the most effective method for reducing FFA was degumming, bleaching, and esterification with zeolite.

AbstractIn many countries, water distribution systems consist of large, highly pressurized pipe networks that require an excessive amount of energy and that are vulnerable to large-scale contamination. To imagine the future of water distribution, we can learn from Hanoi, Vietnam, where water is distributed at low pressures and most buildings are equipped with a basement tank, a rooftop tank, and separate water treatment processes, resulting in a system that consumes less energy and that is more resilient.

The framework of this paper is credit card holding by users and consumers, more specifically, the so-called revolving cards. In most cases, the true interest rate applied to a credit is much higher than its nominal interest rate. Usually, this is due to the existence of some fees to be paid by the holder, and to the process of splitting the periods of interest. However, the contracted annual interest rate of revolving cards is very high which, together with the peculiar amortization system, gives rise to an excessive amount of interests. The objective of this paper is to describe and analyze, from a legal and financial point of view, the main characteristics of the credit repayment in revolving cards. We conclude that the complete amortization of the principal needs a long duration and the payment of a high amount of interests.
