The current research emphasis on the isolation and differentiation of Listeria monocytogenes from different food samples most frequently infected with Listeriosis outbreaks. Crude chicken meat, raw milk, pasteurized cheese, ice cream and raw fish are samples from the city of Bangalore. The selective medium mainly used for the isolation of Listeria is oxford agar. Using isolated L. monocytogenes from food samples, morphologic and biochemical identification was carried out. 2 samples (fresh milk and Ice cream) were positive out of 5 samples; 3 samples (raw chicken meat, raw fish, and pasteurized cheese) were negative. The results conferred during this study indicate the contamination of Ice- cream and Raw Milk samples with L. monocytogenes.

Abstract Introduction Histamine is one of the most important and toxic biogenic amines which may be present in food and may cause food poisoning in humans when contained at a high level. It is produced during bacterial decarboxylation of histidine in fish muscles. The aim of the study was to investigate the presence of histamine in fish and fish products available in Poland during 2014–2018. Material and Methods A total of 421 samples of raw (248), smoked (107), canned (50), and marinated fish (16) were analysed by high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection. Results Histamine was detected in 14.1% samples of raw fish, 29% of smoked fish, 22% of canned fish and 93.8% of marinated fish in concentrations ranging from 3.4 to 156.4 mg/kg. Content of this amine above 100 mg/kg was found in four samples: raw Atlantic salmon, smoked European sprat and two samples of marinated Atlantic herring. Conclusion The study showed that fish and fish products on the Polish market generally meet the food safety criteria for histamine and are safe for consumers.

In line with the resurgence of natural products in the global manufacturing industry, the leather industry is also relooking the increased use of organic materials. To exploit the benefits of the vegetable tanning materials and to couple with suitable organic material for overcoming the inherent shortcomings of vegetable tanning materials, studies were undertaken. Tanning materials like raw fish oil have advantageous properties to impart on leather such as softness, lightweight, and washability characteristics. Hence studies were undertaken on polyphenol-fish oil combination tannages. The quantities of wattle and fish oil and process conditions were standardized. The study indicated that the oxidation of fish oil could take place in the presence of vegetable tannins. The leathers tanned by this combination tanning system could be converted into garment leathers of rich shades and possessed good strength and physical properties. Propelled by encouraging results, investigations were also made on the nature of interaction between vegetable tannins and fish oil with collagen. It was also observed that the vegetable tannins probably do not hinder the oxidation of oil. To sum up, the study leads to the development of a viable, versatile organic tanning system to gain eco-acceptability for the leather manufacturing process.

Songan Village, Kintamani District is a village that has local potential, namely the large number of tilapia fish cultivators. However, the cultivators have been selling their harvest in the form of raw fish only. The relatively cheap price of raw fish cannot provide significant benefits to tilapia fish cultivators, so that innovation is needed to add the value by further processing it. Seeing this situation, it is necessary to hold training in processing tilapia fish into ready-to-eat food such as fish floss and in product packaging, in order to increase the selling value of tilapia fish. Making fish floss does not require a large cost, so it is easy to be applied by tilapia fish cultivators. Meanwhile, the selling value is relatively better than the selling value of raw fish. Problems in the field in this community service activity were explored through observation and interview methods. After the problems were identified, training preparations and socialization were carried out, then training on making fish floss and their packaging were conducted. This activity is succeeded in providing an understanding of the importance of increasing the added value of fish production by processing it into fish floss, providing skills in making floss and packaging. Subsequent service activities can be directed at efforts to assist the community in obtaining P-IRT permits, assisting sales through social media, and accompanying the next production innovation process, among others by trying various other flavours apart from those tested in current community service activities.

Acute stages of parasitic diseases are rare diagnosed and therefore, clinicians have limited knowledge of their clinical features. We describe five autochtnonous acute cases of opisthorchiasis in Moscow region acquired from eating raw ides (L. idus). The most frequent clinical symptoms were febrile, eosinophilic syndrome with cholestasis. The patients were positive for IgG antibodies to O.felineus . Eggs of O.felineus were found in one patient. As egg production O.felineus starts 1 month after exposure and opisthorchiasis cases in Moscow region have low numbers of worms, the sensitivity of microscopy is low. Therefore we consider opisthorchiasis in all patients of unexplained acute fever, pain in upper right abdominal quadrant, and eosinophilia with cholestasis, when patients confirm the ingestion of raw fish. We recommend one day of praziquantel 25 mg/kg TID to patients infected with O.felineus. In previous publications describing the autochtnonous cases of opisthorchiasis in Moscow region the authors supposed that cases of local infection will be found again in Moscow region, and this is just a matter of time. The cases reported here confirm that this infection is endemic in Moscow region. The local people living close to rivers especially those who eat raw fish are at risk of infection O. felineus. There is a clear need to undertake special studies pertaining to the ways of promoting people living in Moscow region become aware of opisthorchiasis and to be motivated in preventive measures and treatment.

The output of roe from pre-spawning pollock was analyzed in the Western Bering Sea, Eastern Kamchatka fishing zones and the Sea of Okhotsk fishing zone during legal specialized fishing for pollock from 01.01.2021 to 10.04.2021 in order to preserve and rational exploitation the pollock population. It was concluded that the output of pollock roe (raw fish eggs) calculated as a percentage of the total weight of raw fish, which were subjected to processing irrespective of sex (females and males treated together) during the 2021 fishing season, when legal specialized fishing for pollock was conducted in the Western Bering Sea fishing zone, Karaginsky subzones, Petropavlovsk-Commander subzones and the Sea of Okhotsk fishing zone, did not exceed the values determined in the Order №267 issued on 23 May 2019 by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

This review covers the incidence of opisthorchiasis caused by Opisthorchis viverrini in South-East Asia countries: Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. We analyzed the history of Opisthorchiidae representative’s discovery and cultural aspects of opisthorchiasis in South-East Asia. The most prevalent cancer type in Thailand is cholangiocarcinoma that is caused by Opisthorchiidae invasion. These parasites are transmitted to humans through raw fish consumption. Sociological studies demonstrated that raw fish food is the part of national traditions and identity of South-East Asian people. Tourism and population movement lead to the spreading of “Asian” Opisthorchiidae in Russia. The high prevalence of Opisthorchis felineus invasion in Russia may both simplify or complicate the clinical recognition of “Asian” opisthorchiasis. Molecular and genetic characteristics of the parasites determine their adaptivity, medication resistance, and finally, the clinical manifestations of opisthorchiasis. It contributes to the further understanding of chronic opisthorchiasis treatment.
