The article addresses the current trends of teaching subjects through the medium of English which has been boosting in the world and in Ukraine. Introduced due to globalization processes, teaching in English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) has become an essential part of internationalization policies of universities. The increase in numbers of international students is viewed as an indication of quality of education provided by universities; it contributes to universities’ higher ratings and competitiveness. The introduction of EMI has been sustainably promoted by the British Council. Nonetheless, EMI providers across the world keep encountering similar issues and challenges. Amongst those, the most essential is low English language proficiency of non-native English speakers – both teachers and students. The article aims to examine the training provided to Ukrainian teachers who deliver EMI courses. The authors surveyed 28 EMI teachers in two universities in the country. The results imply the necessity to reprofile linguistic and pedagogical courses for EMI teachers, including training them in implementing innovative and interactive teaching techniques. The prospects of further research arouse from the need to develop a quality system of assessing students’ learning outcomes.

One hundred years in the making, the Equal Rights Amendment is the only proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution that has met the requirements of Article V of the Constitution but has not been added to the Constitution due to a congressionally imposed ratification deadline. The amendment guarantees that “[e]quality of rights shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex,” like gender equality guarantees in most constitutions around the world. This chapter exposes the unique trajectory of the Equal Rights Amendment to shed light on the process of feminist constitutional change and the evolution of substantive feminist legal aspirations. The revival of the ERA ratification process, decades after Congress’s deadlines, has generated transgenerational public meanings for a new body of gender equality law and public policy.

The functioning of the banking sector of the economy in the world is characterized by a decrease in its capital intensity due to a decrease in the concentration of foreign capital, a deterioration in the quality of the loan portfolio, an outflow of urgent deposit resources and the receipt of significant losses by banking institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Taking into account the current trends in the spread of the virus, the development and implementation of fundamentally new approaches to anti-crisis management in the banking sector of both the world economy and Russia is of great importance today. The COVID-19 pandemic came as a big shock to the global and European economies. While banks are not hit by the pandemic as directly as other retail institutions, they are in the public eye as they provide funding to corporations and individuals. Their stability is crucial for maintaining the efficiency of the entire economic system, not only of a particular country, but also of the world. Currently, the need for a comprehensive study of the competitiveness of a commercial bank is determined by the objective modern conditions of the life of banks operating in a competitive environment. The article proposes the author’s methodology for assessing the competitiveness of a commercial bank, which includes five groups of indicators, which makes it possible to identify not only problematic, but also stable areas of activity. The proposed method for calculating the integral indicator for assessing the competitiveness of a commercial bank has been tested on the example of Russian Agricultural Bank and Sberbank, and a set of measures has been developed to increase the level of competitiveness of a commercial bank.

Abstract Colorectal cancer is one of the most commonly occurring cancers in the world, and colonoscopy is the most sensitive procedure to detect it. Colonoscopy success depends on the quality of bowel preparation, yet the way information is designed and communicated to patients does not meet their needs. By considering how information is conveyed through three different outputs (booklet, motion graphics and app), this study investigates the advantages of using visualised information when communicating bowel preparation instructions for colonoscopy screening. A user-centered multiple-methods approach was followed and results show how user performance benefits from the use of information visualisation. A set of guidelines is given to inform the development of bowel preparation instructions and other similar health related communications.
