Abstract Diabetes mellitus continues to increase along with the increasing pattern of consuming ready-to-eat foods. The consequences of this habit will have a negative impact on the health of the body so that it can cause death. Treatment of diabetes mellitus is carried out in various ways, including administration of insulin and synthetic drug therapy. However, this medication has dangerous side effects. Therefore, research was carried out on Pelawan stems (Tristaniopsis merguensis Griff) which have the potential to be associated with secondary metabolites and bioactivity as antidiabetic so that they can be considered as raw material for herbal medicines in the future. total phenolic content of the methanol fraction of T. merguensis stems is 176.37 mg GAE/g DW. The total flavonoid content of the methanol fraction of T. merguensis stems is 9.85 mg QE/g DW. The results of the antidiabetic test for the methanol fraction of T. merguensis stems obtained an IC50 of 5.31 μg/mL. When viewed from the qualitative results of phenolics and flavonoids that have been carried out, it is likely that the activity of the α-glucosidase enzyme in this study is more influenced by polyphenolic compounds.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease which has clinched the world. More than 300 million people of the world are suffering from this disease and the number is still increasing at a rapid rate as modern medical science has no permanent solution for the disease. Current scenario of the nutraceuticals has increased patient’s faith on the traditional medicinal system and world nutraceutical industry is estimated to reach $285.0 billion by 2021. The increasing trend of nutraceuticals in diabetes treatment makes it important to collect the traditional knowledge of medicines under one heading as it can help researchers to formulate new functional foods and nutraceuticals which can either lower down the risk or cure DM. In addition, the discussion of market available food products, their active components and possible health benefits can help the patients to understand the herbal medicines in a better way.

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic condition, which occurs because the body cannot produce insulin, normally or insulin cannot work effectively. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the rational administration of antidiabetic, oral treatment of diabetes mellitus patients at the age of 30-50 years type 2 in Deli Serdang Hospital, lubuk pakam in 2020. Method: This study is a non-experimental type of research using descriptive methods. Results: Shows that from 72 samples of Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients at Deli Serdang General Hospital, April-July Period 2020. With the number (52.8%) of male sex patients and the number (47.2%) of type patients  female genitalia and antidiabetic drugs most widely used by patients, in the period of April-July 2020, namely (20.8%) glycionion + metformin and (20.8%) insulin drugs.  the use of DM drugs with the right rational indication (65.3%), Rational with the right medicine (100%), rational with the right dosage (100%), the right rational patient (100%) and the rational way of administration (100:%). Conclusion: Evaluation of drug use is a structured quality assurance process that is carried out continuously to ensure that the drugs used are appropriate, safe, and efficient.

The focus of the presented study is the in vitro anti-oxidant activity and anti-diabetic potential of water extracts from the following four herbal substances, not traditionally used for treatment of diabetes mellitus – leaves of Sambucus ebulus L. and Prunus mahaleb L., and flowering stems of Cichorium intybus L. and Satureja kitaibelii Wierzb. ex Heuff. The water extracts are obtained through ultrasonication. The extract of S. kitaibelii stands out due to its highest values in all studied indicators – total phenolic content, scavenging potential (DPPH, ABTS) and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity which was six times higher than acarbose. The extract of C. intybus also showed significant α-glucosidase inhibitory activity compared to acarbose. The flowering stems of both species are promising sources of biologically active substances for blood sugar control in diabetes mellitus.

<p><em>Carica pubescens Lenne &amp; K. Koch is a tropical species that adapt to the plateau environment and low temperatures. In East Java, the plant is found in Cangar and Bromo region. Morphological, chemical content, and analysis of protein banding pattern on C. pubescens has been done, but more on the analysis of active compounds for pharmaceutical raw materials and its accumulation in the body of the plant has not been widely studied. Saponins on C. pubescens potential as a raw material of natural medicine in the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus (DM). This study aims to determine the content of saponin in leaf and petiole of C. pubescens in terms of absorbance values. Saponins were analyzed by qualitative form the foam test, color test, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) analytical and preparative. Quantitative test in the form of UV-Vis spectrophotometry results preparative TLC. This research was done at the Laboratory of Department of Biology and Chemistry UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The results showed that the leaf and petiole of C. pubescens positive for the saponins with the formation of stable foam for 60 seconds at 1.5 cm - 1.7 cm. The third positive samples containing saponins triterpene the ring test produces a brownish color. Isolation saponin by TLC shows the best ratio of eluent chloroform: methanol: water (14: 6: 1) compounds can be separated perfectly. Saponin absorbance values obtained three samples as follows: petiole samples from the region Cangar amounted to 0.852, leaf samples from the region Cangar amounted to 0.686, and leaf samples from Bromo region amounted to 0,629. The highest saponins found in organs petiole. Thus the petiole of C. pubescens has the potential to be used as a source of triterpene saponins which can be developed into a commercial herbal medicines.</em></p>

The aim: was to improve the course of purulent wounds in diabetes by using physical therapies. Materials and methods: we investigated 122 patients with diabetes mellitus and wound processes. We divided all patients on the two groups. Our study groups were 50 patients who had therapy by ozone together with other general treatment and surgery treatment (daily dressings, ointments and solutions). Our control groups were 72 patients, who had treated only by general methods and surgery treatment (daily dressings, ointments and solutions).The patients of our explore group had received intravenous injection of saline ozone solution together with other general treatment and surgery treatment (daily dressings, ointments and solutions). Results: it had studied of indicators of oxidative modification of proteins, lipid peroxidation in blood plasma, antioxidant protection during this period, there were no significant changes in these parameters between the control and experimental groups. As the result of the study was found that the leukocyte index of intoxication in patients in the main and control groups was almost indistinguishable. Regarding the indexes of hematological index of intoxication, which decreased during the treatment of patients of the main group, and different from the patients of the control group, in which this indicator increased sharply. The result of the study of changes in the indicators of sorption capacity of erythrocytes showed that the level of sorption capacity of erythrocytes in patients in the main group during treatment, also decreased, compared with patients in the control group. Conclusions: Therefore, the use of ozone in the treatment of patients with complicated forms of diabetes does not cause a negative impact on the dynamics of homeostasis and indicators of the level of intoxication of the body. Ozone therapy has a beneficial effect on the course and wound process in patients with diabetes with purulent processes.

We have the great ancient knowledge with us to regulate the energy flow through chakras and get cured from various disorders related to that chakra. Mechanism of yoga effects is the most visible in the systems of chakras and nadis, which specifically and directly correlates with nervous and endocrine system. This study is a small effort to prove the effect and application of Manipur chakra activation in management of life style disorders especially diabetes mellitus.

Diabetes mellitus is a disease that is characterized by the chronic presence of blood glucose levels caused by a defect in the secretion of insulin or in the action of this hormone in the body which must be treated integrally with a multidisciplinary approach. The natural treatment of this disease is a common practice around the world, especially in Latin America, there are several clinical studies, in vivo or in vitro assays that focus on assessing the hypoglycemic capacity of various natural products used empirically by the population for years for the phytotherapeutic treatment of the disease as well as the chemicals related to the mechanism of action that produces the hypoglycaemic effect. In the present article, a brief review of the evidence of the hypoglycemic capacity of some natural products for the alternative treatment of diabetes mellitus 2

Introduction: Bauhinia forficata, has presented in several interesting effects for the diabetic human organism as the adjuvant treatment. Its effects have been tested and proven in scientific studies in the Unified Health System in Brazil. Aims: Verify the effects of the medicinal plant Bauhinia forficata as an aid in the control of glycemic indexes. Methodology: Case report with exploratory descriptive study with a quantitative approach, using direct observation techniques of the Dáder method adapted to the use of herbal medicines such as Bauhinia forficata.  Results: In this study, there was a decrease in triglyceride levels with a drop of 77%, which despite not reaching the recommended values ​​for diabetic patients (<150 mg/dl) is quite significant. Conclusion: Bauhinia forficata used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus has anti-inflammatory actions that contribute to reduce glycated hemoglobin and, thus decrease fasting and postprandial glucose.

Response surface methodology (RSM) was employed to optimize the extraction of herbal plant of Annona muricata L. using Box-Behnken Design (BBD). The Box-Behnken Design (BBD) with three factors and two responses (yield and total solid content) was implemented. The processing parameters of A. muricata leaves by soxhlet extraction were solvent to raw material ratio, ethanol concentration, and duration of extraction using soxhlet extractor. The presence of acetogenins compounds was screened by High Performance Liquid Chromatography. Optimum condition with the solvent to raw material ratio (1:5.92), ethanol concentration (1.67 %), and duration of extraction (6.84 hours) was obtained and further analyzed with antioxidant tests. Analyses showed the A. muricata leaves contained high total phenolic and flavonoid contents which corresponding to the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity test. The DPPH result showed that the extract has the highest percentage of scavenging activity with the inhibitory concentration (IC50) value of leaves is 0.243 mg/mL + 0.001 nearly comparable to butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and ascorbic acid (Vit. C), which indicated that the leaves also have higher free radical scavenging activity compared to these commercial standards. Besides, the presence of primary; polysacharide (21.85 % + 0.001), protein (19.59 % + 0.000), glycosaponin (18.87 % + 0.001) and secondary; phenolic (47.26 mg GAE/1g + 0.001), flavonoid (22.12 mg CE/1g + 0.001) metabolites in A. muricata leaves suggested that the leaves contained strong antioxidant properties that are believed can act as anticancer agent for the body.

Morphological diversity, total phenolic and flavonoid content of Echinacea purpurea cultivated in Karangpandan, Central Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 21: 1265-1271. Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench) is a medicinal plant introduced from North America. While it has been introduced to Indonesia long several decades ago. E. purpurea has not been developed as a raw material for herbal medicines in Indonesia as it faces constraints, namely non-uniform production and lack of information on the total phenolic and flavonoid content if cultivated in the country. This study aims to determine the morphological diversity, total phenolic and flavonoid content of three accession E. purpurea cultivated on lowland area (i.e. 493 m asl) in Tegalgede, Karangpandan, Central Java, Indonesia. This study used a Randomized Complete Group Design (RCBD) method with 1 factor, namely 3 accessions of E. Purpurea: A1, A2, A3 each with four replications. Morphological observations, as well as laboratory analysis, were done in this research to collect quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS to test the difference. We found there is significantly different results E. Purpurea accession in term of plant height, wet stover weight, number of leaves, root weight, root length, number of branches. Quantitative observation in the form of extract yield, total phenol content and total flavonoid highest content of extract residue produced by Accession 3 with 7,655%, while the highest phenolic was produced by Accession 1 with 507,619 mg GAE.g -1 extract, and the highest flavonoid was produced by Accession 2 with 313,869 mg QE.g-1 extract. This study concludes that there is morphological diversity of E. purpurea cultivated in Karangpandan with a significant correlation of accession to residue extract, phenolic, and flavonoid content.
