Abstract The combination of temephos and attractants from O.sativa was effective for lethal ovitrap in laboratory testing. However, the effectiveness of the field application needs further investigation. The study’s objective was to determine the influence of ovitrap installation sites, season variation, and attractant on lethal ovitrap efficacy. The study used a quasi-experimental design. Lethal ovitraps were installed indoors and outdoors in 102 houses and observed for 14 weeks. Statistical analysis was conducted with univariate analysis, independent t-test, and Mann-Whitney Test. The statistical analysis results showed no significant difference in positive ovitraps between LOA and LONA on indoor and outdoor applications. The number of positive ovitraps and trapped eggs was not affected by the attractant applied to the LO during indoor and outdoor observations. Lethal ovitrap can be used as a vector control instrument without the addition of attractants. The application of lethal ovitrap is more effective in the dry season when the mosquito population is lower than in the rainy season

Kata Kunci : Demam Berdarah, Maya Index, pelatihan, pengendalian vektor   ABSTRACT Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) caused by Dengue virus could cause death. The most appropriate prevention of Dengue is eradication of mosquito nests (PSN). This study aims to determine the effect of Dengue vector control training on elementary students towards Maya Index in Majalengka. Method: This study used quasi-experimental design (pretest-posttest control group design). A total of 4 schools were selected as intervention groups and 4 other schools as controls. The subjects were students in grades IV-VI consisting of 171 students in the intervention group and 163 in the control group. The instrument used was periodic larva monitoring form. Results: The number of houses with a high Maya Index category in the intervention group decreased from 27.5% to 9.4%. There was a decrease in the high BRI category in the intervention group from 20.5% to 1.8%. In the control group, there was no decrease in the high BRI category (22.1%), on the contrary, there was a decrease in the low category from 34.4% to 3.7%. There was no decrease in HRI rates both of intervention or control groups. Conclusion: Dengue Fever vector control training could decrease the value of BRI and Maya Index, but does not affect the value of HRI. The absence of changes in HRI  indicate that environmental hygiene and sanitation are factors that influence the probability of dengue fever occurrence. Keywords: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Maya Index, training, vector control

The children are not small adults, but have unique characteristics that are always growing and evolving since their conception until the end of adolescence. Good growth and development of children requires appropriate stimulation and accordance with the age such as developmental stimulation. The aim of this study was to determine the influence development simulations towards pre-school children’s growth status. This research was using the quasi-experimental design without control. The numbers of respondents were 30 children (with aged 60-72 month). The children with dubious developmental status had performed the development stimulations for 2 weeks for 3-4 housr a day and evaluated the development status. Developmental Pre-Screening Questionnaire (KPSP) instrument used in this research. The data analysis was using univariate analysis (frequency distributions), bivariate (Wilcoxon test) and multivariate (ANCOVA test). There was a significant difference in the children’s development status before and after development stimulation interventions (p= 0.000), but there was no children and mothers’ characteristic factors that affect the children development status. Stimulation associated with the value of child development, where the high category of stimulation is not found in children whose development category is slow. So it takes stimulation of children from an early age. Growth stimulations can be done routinely as a part of efforts to improve the children development status.

The aim of this research was to determine the differences between the results from the tests of motor abilities carried out on a selected group of handball players in relation to their biological maturation. A total of 23 handball players, belonging to a selected group, took part in this research. The overall sample of participants was divided into three groups based on their biological maturation. The measurements of motor abilities were carried out using the following tests: explosive power, sprint speed and rapid changes in direction. The statistical analysis included descriptive statistics, a univariate analysis of variance and the Bonferroni PostHoc test in order to determine whether a statistically significant difference could be detected between the groups on the tests of motor abilities. Based on the statistical analysis (ANOVA method), a difference was determined between the peak height velocity (PHV) groups for all the variables. The PostHoc test later determined that there were no differences for any of the variables between the PrePHV and MidPHV groups. Differences in all the variables were determined between the PrePHV and PostPHV groups. Differences between the MidPHV and PostPHV groups were determined for 7 variables, while no statistically significant difference was determined for 3 of the variables (5JT, T-test and the Slalom). The main contribution of this research is that it indicates to coaches the inevitability of being familiar with the biological maturation of their players for optimal selection, for adequate training design, and a decrease in the risk of injury.

Human behavior in form of less awareness about the environment will cause the increase of mosquito breeding places and lead to increase the dengue vector’s population rising. This research’s purpose was to describe distribution and characteristics of the dengue vector’s breeding place and people behavior in dengue endemic areas in Salatiga. The data collection was done by monitoring larvae and pupa on water container and interviewing community about related behavior. Results showed that larvae tend to be found in water storage containers, household appliances and open unused goods which was located inside the house. Based on the analysis, there is no significant difference between the indoor and outdoor container, the container is closed or open, and sprinkled with temephos or not. Significant differences were found in different types of containers, containers with fish and drained in the last one week. People in DHF endemic area tend to conduct 3M (Menguras/drain and Menutup/close the lid of Water Reservoirs and Mengubur/bury unused container that have potential as breeding places) and do not use fish nor larvacide for dengue vector control. Based on the result of the research, it is necessary to evaluate the community behavior in closing container and also evaluate the resistance of DHF vector mosquito to temephos.
