Effectiveness of a Global Learning Strategy Practiced in Different Contexts on Primary and Transfer Self-Paced Motor Tasks

(Singer, 1986) on achievement in laboratory and simulated self-paced sport tasks were investigated. Forty undergraduates were randomly stratified according to gender into four treatment groups: (a) a strategy group that initially practiced the strategy while learning the laboratory task (SL), (b) a laboratory control group that began the experiment by learning the task without the strategy (CL), (c) a strategy group that initially applied the strategy to the learning of an applied sport task (SA), and (d) a control group that initially learned the sport task without the strategy (CA). Following the completion of 48 trials with the primary task, all groups performed 50 trials on a transfer task. ANOVAs indicated that both strategy groups performed significantly better than their respective control groups in the primary tasks. Results of the transfer task indicated that the SA group performed at the same level as the SL group but outperformed both control groups. It was concluded that the strategy facilitates achievement in laboratory as well as applied self-paced tasks.

This study examined the effectiveness of the flipped classroom learning strategy on student’s motivation, discipline and learning results on the classroom action research subject. The research subject consists of 66 students grouped into experimental and control groups which were taught separately by using the flipped classroom learning strategy and a conventional discussion strategy. Flipped classroom learning strategy with technology has a significant positive effect on student’s motivation, discipline and learning results. It can be concluded that the experimental group of students taught by flipped classroom strategy is better than the control group in all three domains.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of AIUEO therapy on the speech ability of stroke patients who have motor aphasia in Raja Ahmad Thabib Hospital Tanjungpinang. The research design used was quasi experiment with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design approach to 9 respondents who were divided into 9 treatment groups and 9 control groups. The results showed that there were significant differences in the functional ability of communication between the control and treatment groups with a value of p <0.05 (p = 0.007 at a = 0.05) using the Wilcoxon Test statistical test. Conclusion, the influence of AIUEO therapy on the speech ability of stroke patients with motor aphasia in the treatment and control groups at Ahmad Thabib Hospital Tanjungpinang.   Keywords: Speech Ability, Motor Aphasia Stroke, AIUEO Therapy

The purpose was to examine and compare the longer-term generalization between 2 different practice dosages for a single-session treadmill slip-perturbation training when reexposed to an overground slip 6 months later. A total of 45 older adults were conveniently assigned to either 24 or 40 slip-like treadmill perturbation trials or a third control group. Overground slips were given immediately after initial training, and at 6 months after initial training in order to examine immediate and longer-term effects. The performance (center of mass stability and vertical limb support) and fall percentage from the laboratory-induced overground slips (at initial posttraining and at 6 mo) were measured and compared between groups. Both treadmill slip-perturbation groups showed immediate generalization at the initial posttraining test and longer-term generalization at the 6-month retest. The higher-practice-dosage group performed significantly better than the control group (P < .05), with no difference between the lower-practice-dosage and the control groups at the 6-month retest (P > .05). A single session of treadmill slip-perturbation training showed a positive effect for reducing older adults’ fall risk for laboratory-induced overground slips. A higher-practice dosage of treadmill slip perturbations could be more beneficial for further reducing fall risk.

Abstract. This research has been made to know skill of student’s concept by using active learning strategy everyone is teacher here (ETH). Beside that this study aims to measure student’s concept understanding with statistical test between Experimental Class (Active Learning Strategy Everyone Is Teacher Here) and control class (Conventional Learning ). The population was seventh grade of SMPN 3 Lirik consist 94 students in three classes. Sample was took randomly, experiment class ( VII.2 ) and control class ( VII.I ) This research was experiment, the form of this research was Quasi Experimental Design with randomized subject posttest only control group design. based on statistic data processing has been retrieved - t hitung -3,159 smaller than - t table was -2,000 and based on t test has been retrieved -thitung < -t table so Ho rejected and Ha received. So that the writer conclude that skill of math student’s concept understanding by using active learning Strategy Everyone Is Teacher Here (ETH) is better than conventional concept understanding.Keywords: Everyone Is A Teacher Here, Concept Understanding

This research is motivated by the low student mathematics learning outcomes. The influencing factors are inactive students and lack of communication between students and students. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the circuit learning strategy to students' learning outcomes in the cognitive and effective domains. This type of research is pre-experimental and the research design used is randomized control group only design. Based on the final test of learning outcomes obtained an average of mathematics learning outcomes in the experimental class 79.3 and the average mathematics learning outcomes of the control class 70. The results of the t-test analysis obtained tcount = 3.89 and ttable = 1.667 at the real level of 0.05. It is concluded that tcount> ttable accepts an alternative hypothesis (H1) that is the mathematics learning outcomes of the experimental class students is better than the control class. Analysis of the data in the affective domain obtained zcount = 3.83 and ztable = 1.64 at the real level of 0.05 thus zcount> ztable, in other words Hi is accepted meaning that student learning activities in the experimental class are better than the control class. Based on data analysis in the cognitive and affective domains it can be concluded that there is an influence of the application of the circuit learning strategy to student mathematics learning outcomes.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the five ear acupuncture points (Shen-men, Spleen, Stomach, Hunger, Endocrine), generally used in Korean clinics for treating obesity, and compare them with the Hunger acupuncture point. Methods A randomised controlled clinical trial was conducted in 91 Koreans (16 male and 75 female, body mass index (BMI)≥23), who had not received any other weight control treatment within the past 6 months. Subjects were divided randomly into treatment I, treatment II or sham control groups and received unilateral auricular acupuncture with indwelling needles replaced weekly for 8 weeks. Treatment I group received acupuncture at the five ear acupuncture points, treatment II group at the Hunger acupuncture point only and the sham control group received acupuncture at the five ear acupuncture points used in treatment I, but the needles were removed immediately after insertion. BMI, waist circumference, weight, body fat mass (BFM), percentage body fat and blood pressure were measured at baseline and at 4 and 8 weeks after treatment. Results For the 58 participants who provided data at 8 weeks, significant differences in BMI, weight and BFM were found between the treatment and control groups. Treatment groups I and II showed 6.1% and 5.7% reduction in BMI, respectively (p<0.004). There were no significant differences between the two treatment groups. Conclusions This finding suggests that the five ear acupuncture points, generally used in Korean clinics, and the Hunger point alone treatment are both effective for treating overweight people.

Research about sepsis in animal model is interesting to get the right therapeutic method for human being. We did the research to study about the value of body temperature in mice’s various body area in order to get the important information if we are going to do the translational research in animal model about sepsis. One clinical signs of the sepsis mice model is changes in body temperature. An easy way to examine body temperature is using infrared non-contact thermometer. This study aimed to compare the body temperature using infrared non-contact thermometer at the abdomen and anal area. We used male mice, weighing 25–30 g, divided into two groups (control and treatment groups). The control group injected with NaCl 0.9% solution, with the amount of NaCl 0.9% volume equal to Lipopolysaccharide (LPS). In the treatment group injected with 2.5 mg/kg BW of LPS intraperitoneally. Body temperature was measured in abdomen (tabd) and ananl (tan) area at 8th and 24th hour after treatment. Body temperature value tabd was higher than tan. Lipopolysaccharide injection increase body temperature but was not significant when compared to the control group (8th and 24th hour). The mean difference between tabd and tan in 8th control groups were 2.12oC respectively. The mean difference between tabd and tan in 24th hour control groups 4.6oC. The mean difference in treatment groups (8th hour) was 4.66oC, while it was 4.77oC in the 24th groups. Giving 2.5 mg/kg BW LPS intraperitoneally did not rise the body temperature significantly as compare to control groups. But, body temperature at anus area using non-contact infrared thermometer after treatment showed lower results as compared to that of at abdomen significantly.

Speeding increases the likelihood and severity of an accident, and is the top cause of traffic fatalities. As such, it is important to study interventions such as warning signs and messages that may be able to reduce such behaviour. The main objective of this work was to study the effects of sending short warning messages on speeding behaviour. The study design was an A/B test – drivers who were detected to have sped were randomly assigned into treatment versus control groups. The treatment groups were sent a short warning message, while the control group did not receive any message. There were two types of messages sent – Harsh and Soft. Driver speeds were monitored in the subsequent weeks after the warning was sent out, and the number of repeat offenders and speeds in each group was tracked. We found that drivers who received a warning were 1.3 times less likely to speed in the subsequent week, with the Harsh warning message being 1.6 times more effective than the Soft message. We also found that the effects of harsh messages generally persisted longer than soft messages.

Abstract: Effectiveness of the Feedback Providing Strategies on the PracticumPerformance of the Students of the Diploma Three (D-3) of the ElectronicEngineering Department. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of thefeedback providing strategies (immediate feedback and delayed feedback) onstudents’ performance in the Electronics lab course. This study was anexperiment employed a posttest-only control group design. The subjects werestudents of the Diploma Three (D-3) Program of the Electronic EngineeringDepartment of FT UNM, divided into two treatment groups. Group A,consisting of 20 students, received the treatment of the immediate feedback andGroup B, consisting of 19 students, received the treatment of delayed feedback.The data on the students’ mastery of lab materials were collected throughobservations using a performance assessment form. The data were analyzedusing the t-test. The results showed that the practicum performance of thestudents receiving immediate feedback was better than that of the studentsreceiving delayed feedback. <p>Background <br />Leukocytes play an important role in the elimination of malaria infection. The leukocyte profile upon elimination of the malaria parasites that have been exposed to antimalarials and are subsequently capable of faster growth has not been researched. The aim of this research was to evaluate the role of mouse leukocytes in the elimination of parasites as shown by the leukocyte profile.</p><p>Methods <br />An experimental research with post test only control group design was conducted involving 24 male mice of the Swiss Albino strain weighing 20 g -30 g, and 2.5 months old. They were randomized into four groups: two control groups (K1, KP) and two treatment groups (P1, P4). Artemisinin at a dose of 0.04 mg/g body weight was given to the mice for 3 days, starting 2 days after infection. The leukocyte profile was observed on the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 10th day after infection. The results were analyzed by two-way Anova.</p><p>Results <br />As shown in treatment control group KP and treatment group P4, P. berghei that had been passaged in the mice and were still viable after repeated exposure to artemisinin, may cause changes in leukocyte profile. On the 10th day of infection, the neutrophil percentage in group P1 showed a significantly different decrease when compared with the other groups (K1, KP and P4) (p&lt;0.05).</p><p>Conclusion <br />Repeated exposure to artemisinin of mice infected with P. berghei can cause changes in neutrophil profile in mice.</p>
