In the second half of 19th century, newborn Italy was invaded by innovative ideas supported by democratic, liberal, and socialist intellectuals who wanted to renew social life, economy, and moral values by spreading their ideas both in politics and in everyday life. Right-wing reaction used the same methods of communication and persuasion: the publication of journals and books and their promotion in reading cabinets and public libraries. Maria and Antonia Ponti, two upper-middle-class sisters who married into aristocracy, used their influence and resources to advance the status of women in society. They founded associations and libraries (in Ravenna, Imola, and Bergamo) with the theoretical support of a network of Italian intellectuals, including Cor-rado Ricci, Vilfredo Pareto, and Maffeo Pantaleoni. The philanthropic actions of the sisters, who combined their Catholic and conservative point of view with the improvement of the condition of women, have handed down a remarkable legacy in the form of books and a collection of laces.

Committed and contemporary Egyptian writer, Najib al-Kilani, is considered as a leader in Islamic literature in the Arab world due to the multitude of writings. Islam and promotion of Islamic principles is a major concern in most of his works. Using a descriptive-analytical method, this article tries to investigate the status of women in his novel’ Jakarta’s Virgin and The Man Who Believed. The findings suggest that Kilani, unlike its predecessors and even his contemporary writers, has not described the superficial and banal aspect of women, nut he has tried to promote true status appointed for a Muslim woman. Najib’s novels are taken from the real facts of his time. For him, women have the ability to participate in all social, economic areas by maintaining the moral values and standards of Islam as well as men. Kilani has also given women the right to select their own husbands; he insists much on the presence of common moral, cultural and religious points among couples to survive and continue sharing life.

The status of formal sources of law is considered from the point of view of their definition and the possibility of creating a list of these sources, enshrined at the legislative level. The problem is posed of the need for the existence of an official list of formal sources of law in the national legal system. The main trends in the digitalization of the legal system of society are determined on the basis of the digitalization of the system of formal sources of law, the necessary conclusions are drawn about the nature of this process, its direction, as well as about those positive and negative aspects that are associated with it. Particular attention is paid to the problem of compliance of “reference” texts of normative legal acts and other formal sources of law, enshrined in the official means of the content of legal information, and “digital” shells of these regulatory prescriptions that function within the framework of commercial legal reference systems. Based on the analysis performed, the main problems of modern digitalization of formal sources of law are determined. The issue of self-reproduction of law is touched upon, attention is drawn to the ethical problem of creating law to regulate social relations using digital technologies. En beskrivelse af olympisk sport fortolket som løsningsmodel for sociale og kulturelle problemstillinger i moderne samfund bl.a. set i et kønsmæssigt perspektiv.Olympic Sport: A unique modern institutThe viewpoint presented here is that the order of modern sport can be said to constitute a negation of the chaos that can obtain in everyday social life. It is argued that modern sport, as it developed after the turn of the last century, has come to provide not only a refuge for men from the struggle for political and class position but also a refuge from the struggle for gender position. Moreover, the realm of sport can be seen not only as providing a refuge from existing cultural conceptions and norms, but also as a formative realm. Sport as a formative realm refers to sport as a spectacle. The notion of spectacle belongs to the newer genre of sporting events and was not a dimension of the Olympic idea that was looked upon with approval by the initiator of the modern Olympic Games, Pierre de Coubertin. The function of the spectacle, to entertain and to satisfy the eye rather than the spirit, tends to draw the attention of participants away from the festival, the ritual and the game. With sportswomen’s access to public arenas, women became a feature of the spectacle. Their status as “natural” beings was converted to that of incumbents of a performance role in a public, historical occasion and the femininity of women became the subject matter of reflexive thought. In constituting a spectacle, sporting events can be a challenge to existing cultural conceptions and norms – regarding the status of women, for example, – in addition to providing a refuge from the chaos of social life.

This article is a study of the rights of women in Islam in comparison with the status of women in the contemporary Muslim world. Men and women in Islam, regardless of their age, social class and education, are equal as citizens and individuals, but not identical, in their rights and responsibilities. It suggests that, in the early age of Islam, women were given full confidence, trust and high responsibilities in leadership, educational guidance and decision-making. But this Islamic empowerment of women bears little relation to the real condition of women in modern Muslim societies. Women suffer the most in the MENA and other conflict-ridden regions from insecurity, domestic abuse, low access to education and medical care. The absence of good governance also results in gender inequality and violation of the rights of women. Without good governance, the status of women is not likely to improve. Muslim women have a potential to play a fundamental role in curbing corruption, social ills, violence and crime in the Muslim world. Therefore, in order to achieve stability and prosperity, the government must ensure a platform for women to participate in decision-making and benefit from the rights they are accorded in Islam.

We study distinctive characteristics of lingvo-cultural type “teacher” in educational sphere in Russian and English lingvo-cultures. A comparative analysis of the given type on three linguistic levels is presented: conceptual, perceptual and associative fields. The choice of the lingvo-cultural type “teacher” for analysis is justified by the present global situation which highlights the importance of the profession regardless of time and place. The paper consists of the 6 main sections (abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and references). The body of the research includes the experiment section. We conducted a survey: an internal (among the bachelor students of Moscow Region State University) as well as an external (administered via online among the English natives). All the respondents were offered a sample questionnaire (a set of questions and prompts to collect information about a “typical” teacher’s appearance, age, gender, family status, origin, occupation, communicative behavior, etc.) Analyzing survey experimental data we came to the conclusion that the typified personalities are socially significant and vital both in the English and Russian lingvo-cultures, have fixed conceptual characteristics, recognizable and easily identified on mental and linguistic levels. Though the existing and revealed due to the experiment differences in mentality, world-view and religion between the West and Russia find their expression in a certain aloofness and detachment of an American /British teacher / professor from social life. The overall positive attitude to the image of the teacher / professor in both lingvo-cultures is connected with a high social position of this type of personality and shows an everlasting respect to the status of the mentor in the mind of English or Russian speakers. The carried out research has shown the increasing interest in linguistic personology as a new branch of linguistics. The research can be continued and advanced from the point of view of lingvo-culturology, psychology and sociology.

The paper aims at examining Easterine Kire Iralu’s novel A Terrible Matriarchy (2007) from feminist point of view.  The novel A Terrible Matriarchy is the coming-of-age story of a young girl, Dielieno. The narrative explores the suffering of innocent Dielieno and her confrontation with the traditional Angami society to which she belongs to. In the ethnic world of Nagaland, both patriarchal and matriarchal control co-exists but it also has a strong Tantric tradition from time immemorial. For various reasons the status of women in the northeast has not been different from the women in the mainstream of India. Easterine Iralu through her girl protagonist Dielieno depicts the severe gender discrimination where the grandmother neglected Lieno to the worst extent, always caring and preferring the boys. The grandmother's matriarchal hegemony makes Lieno revolt silently. The various aspects of women's marginal status and native culture have been analyzed in the paper.
