New technologies in second foreign language training

In this paper it is refers to distance technologies in second foreign language training. They become more and more popular. It is impossible to confuse a correspondence study with distance learning because the last one is always individual.

The article deals with the use of foreign language distance learning for first-year foreign students of economic specialties. The implementation of distance learning is one of the ways to modernize the education in Ukraine in the context of globalization and the intensive development of information technologies. Distance technologies are now widely used in many fields of education, especially when teaching a foreign language to inophones. Creating an effective learning system, based on information technology, is an urgent task at all levels of education. One of the systems focused on the professional development of future specialists is the system of teaching students a foreign language using information technology. The possibilities of organizing the educational process are not limited to traditional and distance learning. There is a significant educational sector in which distance learning cannot be fully applied, but individual elements of e-learning can be used (in particular, distance learning technologies). It is referred to full-time and part-time (1-2 courses) forms of higher education. The mixed learning has become a special role as a more perfect model of the educational process organization, which takes the advantage of distance learning and compensates for these disadvantages. To improve the organization of the educational process for the language training of foreign students, we consider appropriate to use the materials of distance courses in the models of mixed learning. The options for integrating distance learning into the traditional system of language training for foreigners in the mixed learning models have been analyzed. When integrating the model into a traditional educational process at this stage of foreigners' training, it is suggested to use the distance course developed by us with the prevailing classroom component, because the degree of students' independent work in learning the teaching material of the discipline in the first year is not high. The structure and content of the distance course «Foreign Language» (educational-professional sphere of communication connection), designed on the Moodle platform, are considered in the article. The importance of using distance technologies in the process of organizing language training for foreign students is noted. It contributes to the formation of professional competence of future specialists in the field of economics.

Foreign languages e-learning has gained in a great importance because of growing interest in the Internet. It becomes a very popular method due to its accessibility, simplicity and availability, which contribute to improvement of spectrum and quality of distance learning in teaching English in higher educational establishments in pandemic conditions. Mechanism of education is a key process of human life, which determines the personality development. Fast pace of information technology development brings on displacement of traditional learning in higher education establishments with more modern methods including distance learning in teaching English. This article attempts to reflect the current trends in foreign language learning using distance technology. Currently, new technologies and the Internet allow the person to gain the necessary knowledge without leaving home, using a personal computer. This article considers the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning in teaching a foreign language compared to full-time and part-time education. The survey has confirmed that quality and structure of educational courses are usually much better with distance learning than with traditional training forms. Distance learning comprises all actual learning methods and suggests a large number of assignments designed for independent study, with the probability of obtaining day-to-day consultations. It uses the latest accomplishments of interactive and information technologies and gives equal educational opportunities to students regardless of health, place of residence, financial security and elitism. Besides, the disadvantages of this form of learning over other forms and the reasons why distance education may be ineffective are given and explained in the article (lack of face-to-face conversations, one-side explanation and lack of constructive skills). The student must also have certain psychological traits and technical means such as a computer and an access to the Internet. The conclusions made as a result of the comparison allow to determine the areas that need special attention, as well as to choose the most convenient tools for effective learning of foreign languages and English, in particular.

The article discusses modern technologies in foreign language training for the bachelors of technical university which help to develop professional skills. Nowadays there is a need of education transformation taking into account changes of the digital world in favour of the soft skills development which provide personnel leadership in a digital era. The value of new technologies is that they allow to be guided better in a rapidly changing world, in various directions and disciplines and to understand flows of modern information. Educational cases and projects are very important in Russian education now. At the same time, assimilation of knowledge and abilities development act as a result of vigorous independent students’ activity on conflicts solving therefore there is a creative mastering professional knowledge, skills, abilities and critical thinking development.

The article considers the use of the Zoom platform in distance learning of a foreign language. The aim of the study is to consider the possibilities of using Zoom in distance learning of a foreign language. The research methods include the analysis of scientific and methodological literature on the research topic, the analysis of Zoom tools for the implementation of the possibilities of distance learning of a foreign language. The article explains the high demand for remote and online technologies and defines the criteria for choosing effective technologies for remote and online lessons. The research also considers the benefits of Zoom in the process of learning a foreign language and different types of tasks and their implementation via Zoom. The problems faced by teachers and students in the process of using online technologies in distance learning are identified. The article describes the possibility of interactive communication with students assigned to analyze a piece of fiction and offers a system of exercises which can be done using Zoom. It is proven that the use of the Zoom platform in teaching a foreign language employs different tools which make it possible to increase the effectiveness of language training and the development of students’ educational and cognitive abilities.

The use of new technological tools in the classroom enables many new ways of teaching in foreign languages. Unlike the old methods that rely on unidirectionality, new technologies also require new ways of teaching, managing work, and therefore a new ethos. The introduction of new technologies also leads to a change in the status of the teacher, which also requires a change in the training strategy. This article reflects a pedagogical experiment aimed at testing the readiness of both the teacher and the students to acquire new knowledge and skills in a modern, interactive way. For this purpose, during the whole course of foreign language training over two semesters at the Medical College at the Medical University - Plovdiv, two groups of students in the specialties "Medical Cosmetics" and “Instructor in Food Safety” are taught in two different ways - one studying English in the traditional way with a textbook, while the other using only "interactive" methods without using textbooks or similar tools. At exit, a survey is conducted among one of the groups of students to evaluate their attitude towards the new approaches in learning a foreign language.

The article reveals ESP distance learning course for foreign language training of the law-enforcement agencies personnel. Topics and stages of ESP online language learning course have been considered. The training of personnel of border security units is an integral part of the system of ensuring Integrated Border Management; it is necessary to provide coherence of units for the skillful organization of their operational and service activity. The authors focus particular attention on the structural and logical scheme of ESP distance learning course according to the separate modules. The purpose of the article is to reveal developed the ESP online course in the framework of border guards training in Ukraine. The purpose set required performing a thorough needs analysis of the target audience (border guard officers serving at the border). It has been determined that it is more efficient for border guards to study the English language without leaving their professional duties at the border. The results of the development and implementation of the English language distance learning course for foreign language training of the Border Guard Agency personnel allowed us to conclude that it is necessary and effective for border guards to obtain professional language skills for performing everyday tasks, organizing operational and service activity and during border control at checkpoints across the state border. The teacher during ESP online course acts as a catalyst for communication, provides feedback, takes into account a variety of learning styles, and pays considerable attention to the development of not only intellectual but also moral qualities of border guards. The developed online ESP course for Border Guard Agency personnel effectively functions in the system of professional training, providing an opportunity for border guards at the workplace without interrupting their main activity to improve their level of professional English proficiency. The course can be implemented in other law-enforcement educational institutions for independent learning of personnel in order to form foreign language competence, especially for officers who plan to participate in joint international programs and trainings.

At present the requirements to the level of foreign language training in a non-linguistic higher school are determined by the necessity of students to master foreign language communication skills. One of the most significant methods of professional foreign language training optimization and intensification is an intensive use of new information and communicative technologies in the process of education. The purpose of the article is to consider the system of assessment technologies, in particular, training and control tests of the electronic course, implemented in blended and distance learning conditions, providing control and assessment of the formation of foreign language communicative competence of undergraduate students of non-linguistic profiles in conditions of remote interaction. The article reviews the problem through scientific-pedagogical and methodological literature. The article also provides an overview of theoretical and empirical research strategies. The results of the article discuss the peculiarities of the functioning of the electronic educational and methodical complex (EEMC) in blended and distance learning. The description of the system of test tasks for the development and control of lexical and grammatical aspect of speech; receptive and productive types of foreign language speaking activity (reading, listening, speaking) are given in the research. Theoretical and practical value, its correspondence to the aims and questions of the investigation concludes the article.
