The aimed of the study was to determine the prevalence, intensity and dominance of ectoparasites that infected gourami (Osphronemus goramy) which cultivated in floating net cages in Cirata reservoir, West Java. Present results showed that there were 22 gouramis infected with ectoparasites from 30 observed fish. The ectoparasites (Prevalence, Intensity and Dominance) found were Trichodina sp. (13.33%, 8.15 32.62%), Ichthyobodo sp. (3.33%, 1.00, 0.31%) Microsporadia (6.67%, 1.00, 0.31%), Carchesium granulatum (6.67%, 34.00, 20.92%), Cichligogyrus sp. (3.33%, 7.00, 2.15%), Dacthylogyrus sp. (20.00%, 2.00, 3.69%), Centrocestus sp. (6.67%, 3.00, 1.85%), Argulus sp. (56.67%, 6.94, 36.31%), Lerneae sp. (3.33%, 3.00, 0,92%), Gnatia sp. (3.33%, 1.00, 0.31%) and Hatschekia sp (3.33%, 1.00, 0.31%). The Argulus sp. had the highest prevalence with a percentage of 73.33% and becames the most dominant species with a percentage value of 36,31%. Meanwhile, Carchesium granulatum was an ectoparasite species that demonstrated the highest intensity of 34. Based on the diversity of ectoparasites, it was found as positive case that gourami cultivated in the Cirata reservoir have been infected with ectoparasites, especially from the species Argulus sp.

The method used was a literature survey to determine the competitiveness of floating net cage aquaculture in 27 regencies/cities in West Java Province. Data collected was analysed descriptively. Primary data is in the form of expert judgment consisting of 20 people regarding the proportion of competitiveness of floating net cage aquaculture fisheries. Secondary data on Floating Net Cage Aquaculture Fisheries (2004 – 2019) was obtained from the office of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of West Java Province. The results of this study indicates that the regencies with very high competitiveness are Purwakarta Regency and Cianjur Regency. While the regencies with low competitiveness are regencies/cities in the northern and southern regions.

The rivers on the Sukabumi Coast flow into the Indian Ocean. Three major rivers, namely the Cimandiri River, Cikaso River, and Cibuni River, are sources of glass eel fishing. This study aims to determine the recruitment and estimate of glass eel abundance for future glass eel management. The study was conducted from November 2020-April 2021. Estimation of glass eel abundance was carried out using a fyke net. The glass eel calculation is determined based on the number of glass eels caught, the water discharge entering the fyke net, the water discharge in the estuary, and other variables. The results showed that glass eel recruitment began at the beginning of the rainy season in November 2020 and lasted at the end of the study in April 2021. Anguilla bicolor bicolor is a dominant species of glass eel found in the three river estuaries. The estimated abundance of glass eel was approximately 2,583,438-13,556,650 ind./year or 326,24-1,812 kg/year. The abundance of glass eels at the estuary of Cimandiri River was higher than that of the estuary of Cibuni River and the estuary of Cikaso River.

In the present study, a semi-analytical model based on the small-amplitude wave theory is developed to describe the wave fields around a single gravity-type cylindrical open fish net cage. The cage may be submerged to different depths below the free-water surface. The fish cage net is modelled as a flexible porous membrane, and the deflection of the net chamber is expressed by the transverse vibration equation of strings. The velocity potential is expanded in the form of the Fourier–Bessel series and the unknown coefficients in these series are determined from matching the boundary conditions and the least squares method. The number of terms for the series solution to be used is determined from convergence studies. The model results exhibit significant hydroelastic characteristics of the net cages, including the distribution properties of wave surface, pressure drop at the net interface, structural deflection, and wave loading along the cage height. In addition, the relationships between wave forces on the net cage with hydrodynamic and structural parameters are also revealed. The findings presented herein should be useful to engineers who are designing fish cage systems.

The focus in this paper is on current forces on circular aquaculture nets, and how they vary with different parameters. The main parameters are current velocity and profile, solidity ratio of the net, sinker weights and net depth. The drag force on the net is calculated by a newly developed screen type force model. A subset of the calculations are validated by recent experimental data. The presented results are meant to represent a basis for discussing how current loads on a net cage vary with different environmental and strucural parameters. Scaling effects are discussed.

The research was conducted in floating net cage for at Talengen Island Sangihe to study the growth of grouper (46-70 g in average) fed various type of feed including fish flesh, pellet, cassava, sago) for six weeks, and to determine the food conversion ratio of each food type. The treatments consisted of A (fish flesh), B (fish flesh + cassava), C (fish flesh+sago), D (pellet). Fish was culture in 12 floating net cages measuring 1x1x1,5 m each, 10 fish/cage. Research results showed that the highest weight gain was achieved in fish in treatment C (87.6%), followed by treatment A (76.1%) , B (69.8%), and D (52.5%).  Statistically, treatment C was significantly different  compared to treatment A, B and D. The use of fish flesh combined with sago was able to improve growth of grouper Kata kunci : Kerapu Cantang,  growth, food conversion ratio, floating net cage

To investigate the potential of extensive net cage culture for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fingerlings, an experiment was conducted in net cages suspended in a fertilized pond. Mixed-sex population of Nile tilapia with an average initial body weight of 0.065 g was used to stock in experimental cages. Four treatments; non added-substrate without supplemental feeding (NSNF), non added-substrate with supplemental feeding (NSAF), added-substrate without supplemental feeding (ASNF), and added-substrate with supplemental feeding (ASAF) were tested. The results indicated that addition of substrates which gave an additional submerged surface area of approximately equal to the total cage surface area did not show significant effect on the growth (p > 0.05). The fish gross yield obtained from non added-substrate cages without supplemental feeding was 1.22 kg/m3 for a 56-day period.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/on.v10i1.7752

The use of trash fish ( Treatment A ), trash fish + cassava( Treatment B), pellets+ trash fish ( Treatment C ) and a mixture of trash fish + cassava + pellets ( Treatment D ) as feed had been conducted to evaluate its effect on growth of Caranx sexfasciatus. This research was carried out inTelengen Bay waters, Central Tabukan District, Sangihe Islands Regency. Fish with weighing 60,9 -62,9 g were distributed in 12 net cages measuring 3x1x1 m with the density of 5 fish each. Fish were fed three times a day for seven weeks. Fish weight was measured every week. At the end of experiment, the individual weight of fish ranged from 168,7 to 222,8 g in with the highest average weigth gain was achieved in treatment A namely 222.8 g (354.2%)), followed by treatment C 178.0 g (286.6 %) treatment D 170.08 g (280.5%), and treatment B as much as 168.7 g (274.3%). Statistical analysis displayed that weight gain of fish in treatment A was significantly different as compared to that of treatments B, C, and D. There was no significant differencesbetween treatment B, C, and D. Food conversion ratio of treatment A was significantly different compared to other treatments. Food conversion ratio of treatment A was 2.80, B 4.25, C 3.70, D 3.88. as conclusion, the use of trash fish without supplementaion with others ingradients resulted in the highest absolute and relatif growth of fish and the lowest food conversion ratio of 2.80 as compared to other treatments.
