On June 10, 1994, the well-known pediatrician-endocrinologist Yuri Alexandrovich Knyazev, doctor of medical sciences, professor, honored scientist of the Russian Federation, head of the endocrinology and metabolism department of the Russian State Medical University, turned 60. After graduating with honors from the Kursk Feldsher-Midwifery School and the Kursk State Medical Institute, Yu. A. Knyazev specializes in residency and postgraduate studies at 11 Moscow Medical Institute for Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology. Candidate (1963) and doctoral (1969) dissertations are devoted to questions of pathogenesis, clinic, and treatment of diabetes in children. At the age of 36, Yu. A. Knyazev was awarded the academic title of professor of pediatrics. Yu. A. Knyazev organized a hormone-exchange diagnostic laboratory, which was a branch of the Central Scientific Research Laboratory II MMM named after N. I. Pirogov on the basis of pediatric clinics of the Children's Clinical Hospital No. 1 (Morozovskaya). Yu. A. Knyazev was at the forefront of domestic pediatric endocrinology, clinical biochemistry, headed the pediatric endocrinological service of Kursk and Moscow; on his initiative, a specialized kindergarten-nursery was first created, medical institutions for endocrinological patients were organized, the principles of which were approved in many regions of the country. As the chairman of the Union, Republican, and interagency commissions on pediatric endocrinology, Yu. A. Knyazev integrates scientific research in this area.

The article is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Doctor of Medical Sciences (MD), Professor Anatoly Andree- vich Babanin. The article highlights the main events in the life of the famous scientist, lists the main achievements and scientific achievements. The life and scientific activities of Anatoly Andreevich are inextricably linked with the Crimean Medical Institute (University), within the walls of which the future professor first received a higher medical education, and then, after years of successful scientific activity, headed the university as a rector for many years. Thanks to the talented leadership, the Crimean Medical University has reached a high level of scientific and technological develop- ment and international recognition. For long productive work and scientific achievements, Professor A.A. Babanin awarded numerous government and international awards and titles, and currently continues active work for the benefit of higher medical education in Crimea.

A wise doctor, an excellent clinician, professor, doctor of medical sciences, honored worker of science of the Republic of Karelia Lidiya Alekseevna has walked more than 50 years in medicine and is widely known in scientific circles. She graduated from the Samarkand Medical Institute named after I. Academician I.P. Pavlova. Then she worked for some time as an obstetrician-gynecologist in Uzbekistan. Further training took place at the Leningrad State Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors: clinical residency, postgraduate studies, worked as an assistant and associate professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Leningrad State Pedagogical University. Lidia Alekseevna Samorodinova is a student of Professor A.E. Mandelstam.

The article is dedicated to the life and work of an outstanding scientist, embryologist, histologist, doctor of medical sciences, professor V.A. Korolyev (1931-2019). Most of the work of V.A. Korolyev is associated with the Crimean Medical University. V.A. Korolyev for many years worked as the head of the department and then as a professor at the Department of Biology of the Crimean State Medical Institute. His scientific activity is devoted to the study of the features of early embryogenesis of humans and mammals. One of the main scientific areas of the professor was the study of the bioethical problems of assisted reproductive technologies of man, the term “ecological mother” was proposed. Korolyev was author and co-author of more than 250 printed works, brought up more than one generation of high-class students. In conclusion, a conclusion was made about the significant contribution to the development of the scientific school of embryologists.

60 years have passed since the birth of the famous endocrinologist, head of the department of endocrinology of the Russian State Medical University, Professor Vladimir Vasilyevich Potemkin. In 1951, V.V. Potemkin entered the Leningrad Military Medical Academy. S. M. Kirova, at the end of which he worked as a military doctor. In 1960, he was admitted to clinical residency at the Department of Endocrinology of the Institute for Advanced Medical Studies, after which he was enrolled in the graduate school of the same department. During this period, V. V. Potemkin defended his thesis on the topic “The relationship of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in diabetes mellitus and their clinical significance.” Since 1965, V.V. Potemkin's pedagogical, scientific and medical activities are fully connected with the Russian State Medical University (2nd Pirogov Moscow Medical Institute). V.V. The article provides data on scientific research of the Moscow scientific school of academicians D.A. Zhdanov and M.R. Sapin in the field of morphofunctional organization of the lymphatic and immune systems. The historical materials and scientific research of their students and followers were studied. The biographical milestones in the life and professional activities of Academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences D.A. Zhdanov and his student, academician of the RAS M.R. Sapin within the walls of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical Institute (now – Sechenov University). The main scientific direction of D.A. Zhdanov taught about the lymphatic system. As a result of his research, the important role of the organs of the immune system in the formation of the body's response to antigenic effects was shown. Studying the professional and creative activities of M.R. Sapin showed that he was a fairly bright personality in the morphological community. A large number of his students and followers allows the scientific direction of academician M.R. Sapin live and develop today. New scientists-morphologists, using modern research methods, will continue and develop the teachings of M.R. Sapin, as in his time he continued and deepened the scientific direction of his teacher.

Notable an obstetrician-gynecologist, urologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexander Mazhbits made a great contribution to the history of medicine of the USSR and the annals of the Arkhangelsk state medical Institute (ASMI, now the North-State Medical University (NSMU)), where he headed the Department in 1953-1958. Being the author of over 120 scientific works and 7 books, many scientific inventions and publications on obstetric and gynecological urology and its history, he was a creator of the textbook Operative urogynecology, inventor and prominent scientist. Each operation for a particular urogynecological disease the author described in detail and step by step with the attachment of original visual drawings, photos or radiographs, diagrams of practical activities. Alexander Moiseevich was the first who proposed a new direction for the creation of urogynecology. Not specific urologists, surgeons or obstetricians-gynecologists should deal with this activities, but urogynecologists who consider the female pelvis as a whole. A.M. Mazhbits wrote: Obstetrics-gynecology and female urology are daughter cells of general pelvic surgery, they are twins of different ages, so closely related to each other genetically, clinically and practically that the boundaries between them are often smoothed out.

In commemoration of the 125-th birth anniversary The creative pathway of Professor Haik Shakhbazian, including the stages of the formation and development of his personality from practical sanitary physician to scientific researcher, Director of the Institute and Head of the Department, as well as the WHO expert and Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences was investigated. The contribution of the scientist to physiology and labour hygiene, in particular to a new scientific direction –the hygiene of the industrial microclimate, founded by Professor Shakhbazian, has been analyzed. The stages of the scientist’s and teacher’s work at Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Labour Hygiene and Occupational Diseases and at the Department of Labour Hygiene and Occupational Diseases in the Bohomolets Kyiv Medical Institute were studied. Monographs, textbooks, teaching materials, lectures of the scientist and his social activities were analyzed. The glorious traditions of the Professor Shakhbazian’s scientific school were continued by his numerous students.

The aim of the research is to analyze life circumstances, activity results and to give a social portrait of Professor Zh. Zh. Rapoport, Doctor of Medical Sciences. For the first time we present information about active longevity and work continuation of a doctor, a teacher and a scientist of Krasnoyarsk Medical Institute, who continues to cooperate with Krasnoyarsk Medical University and Institute of Medical Problems of the North. Material and methods. Historical documents, parents and family memories, information on work after graduation from Odessa Medical Institute, publications about him, memoirs of employees of Pediatrics Department of Krasnoyarsk Medical Institute Studied are studied. Historical and biographical method was used. Results. There are examples of his formation as a doctor, considering his family medical dynasty, achievements during the period of work in Krasnoyarsk Territory. Features of his pedagogical activity and formation of pediatric school are given. Scientific genealogy and its continuation in students are described. The facts of maintaining high level of psychological mood for a long active period of life are presented. Conclusion. It is proposed to use the mentioned experience in professional motivating medical students, improving pedagogical process, in the ability to conduct practically significant scientific research during the period of work and to transfer experience and knowledge after retirement.

Research is considered a function aimed at obtaining new knowledge and its application for the solution to problems or questions of a scientific nature, The universities framed in the fulfillment of their social function have a complex task given by training a competent professional who assumes research as part of their training and who learns to ask questions that they are able to solve through scientific research.  Scientific research is an indicator of the quality of processes in the university environment, so it must be increased by virtue of the results of the work carried out by research teachers and students the objective of this work is to know the perception of the teachers of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Guayaquil about the scientific activity. Objective: to know the perception of the teachers of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Guayaquil about the scientific activity. Methods: theoretical and empirical level were used, a questionnaire with closed questions aimed at knowing the opinions on the research activity in this institution was applied. Result: that of the sample analyzed 309 (39.3%) said they agreed with the training for the writing of scientific articles. 38.6% said they agree with the training on research projects. Conclusion: that teacher’s research should be enhanced to ensure the formation and development of research skills in students.
