This study is trying to interpret the theory of Maqasid Al-Shariah in wide context, which further based on the measurement of socio-economic prosperity; it takes into account the major drawbacks of the existing measurements. The proposed measurement is an integrated Maqasid Al-Shariah based composite index to measure socio-economic prosperity of economies in general and muslim countries in particular. The integrated Maqasid Al-Shariah based measurement does not isolate economic and social progress from the spiritual and biophysical variables that effect human prosperity. Specifically, in this paper, we will be looking at the theory of Maqasid Al-Shariah and socio-economic prosperity, in order to develop these constructs within the proposed composite index and the measurement variables, where each variable constructs under the Maqasid Al-Shariah. This study argues that the existing measurements of socio-economic progress are limited by number of measured variables and, therefore, do not portray the real socio-economic prosperity status.

Imagology is a branch of comparative literature which explores the image of one nation in the literature of another nation. One Thousand Nights and One Night is among the important books which can show the image of different nations and people such as Indians, Iranians and Arabs. Since the oldest version of the book is in Arabic, it is considered an Arabic literary work though it was translated from a Persian tale in the first place. On this basis the study of the image of Iranians in One Thousand Nights and One Night can be included under the definition of imagology. In this article, first we explain, analyze and study the image of Iranians in the book One Thousand Nights and One Night with respect to 1. anthropology (including entertainments, personification of animals, disapprobation of lies and betrayal of spouses), 2. religious and mythical beliefs (including the belief in daevas and jinnis, magic, fire-worshipping and similar plots), 3. politics (emphasizing the position of vizier and his family in government), 4. economics (emphasizing economic prosperity), then we will compare the collected information with the image of Iranians in credited works and in this way we will identify the similarities and differences of Iranians’ image in One Thousand Nights and One Night and the above-said literary works. Finally we come to this conclusion that the similarities belong to the real image of Iranians in the pre-Islamic days and that differences show the image of post-Islamic Iran which is added through Arabic translation.

The word globalization has already made it into our lexicon, though the term itself has appeared relatively recently. It is believed that it was first introduced into scientific circulation by the American economist R. Robertson in 1985. Under this concept began to bring various processes of the exit of social life in all its dimensions (economic, political, cultural, informational, confessional, etc.) beyond individual countries and regions. The interpretation of this term in dictionaries, encyclopedias, as well as in individual studies often depends on the specificity of the field of knowledge in which it is considered. However, it can be stated that globalization is a universal phenomenon and its consideration requires a multidisciplinary approach. In this article, we are only attempting to consider globalization processes and their impact on marital relations in the modern Muslim world.

Digitization by computers, like steam power and internal combustion, is widely recognized as a pervasive, disruptive engine powering new ways of living and affecting all aspects of economic life. Research on its economic impact cannot be entirely disentangled from powerful cultural stories connecting technological, educational, and economic progress. As cracks appear in the narratives of constant progress through technology, science, civilization, and economic prosperity, research on the economic impact of digital media develops nuance. This review of literature examines a wide range of perspectives on the economic impact of digital media as a basis for suggesting areas of further research and implications for education, civic, engagement, and policy.

<p><strong>Abstract: </strong>One of the indications of the acceleration of economic progress in Ponorogo is the rapid development of the real sectors, especially the proliferation of modern businesses using the franchise system. Therefore, small retail businesses today are facing new competitors with huge capital and reliability of modern management. This study tries to find out the impact of the franchise system invasion to the existence of small retails, and how it affects the <em>ma</em><em>ṣ</em><em>la</em><em>ḥ</em><em>ah</em> (safety) of small retails in Ponorogo. This study uses the theory of <em>maqā</em><em>ṣ</em><em>id</em> <em>al-sharīah</em> in the aspects of <em>ḥ</em><em>if</em><em>ẓ</em><em> al-māl</em> to analyze the sustainability of small retail businesses amid the proliferation of franchise businesses. <em>Ma</em><em>ṣ</em><em>lā</em><em>ḥ</em><em>ah</em> is thinking about the advantages and disadvantages on the basis of religious teachings by thinking about priorities and side with the community (<em>al-ma</em><em>ṣ</em><em>la</em><em>ḥ</em><em>ah</em> <em>al-'āmah</em>). The results of this study found out the threat of franchise trading system to the existence of small retails. Therefore, the <em>ma</em><em>ṣ</em><em>la</em><em>ḥ</em><em>ah</em> for small retail of businesses means the realization of the safety from the expansion of large investors, such as monopoly.</p><p><strong>Abstrak: </strong>Salah satu indikator meningkatnya laju perekonomian Kabupaten Ponorogo ditandai dengan pesatnya perkembangan sektor riil terutama dengan menjamurnya berbagai jenis toko-roko modern (khususnya dengan sistem waralaba) yang terus bertambah jumlahnya. The fact of speaking a language instead of another at a specific moment in a person’s life depends on many and diverse factors such as immigration, the language acquired and spoken at home, and what the dominant and official language is. In addition, in situations where it is possible to choose, speaking one language instead of another is not a neutral choice, in that the values associated with languages have a lot to do with that choice. In the Valencian Community, in Spain, two languages officially coexist: Castilian, the official language within the whole Spanish State, and Catalan, the historical language of the territory, which is undergoing a process of revitalization since the beginnings of the 1980s. At that time,Catalan was perceived as a second-rate language, associated with peasantry, with the rural context and uncultured people from the lower social classes. The technique employed to reveal these values or stereotypes, namely the matched-guise technique (Ros 1984),was used again during the 90s (Blas Arroyo 1995, Gómez Molina1998) for evaluating the effects of the revitalization program. The results of this work showed that Catalan was gaining more and more prestige, i.e., it was increasingly associated with modern people, city life, learning and social progress. An underlying, though never proved, assumption was that the remarkable improvement in the image of Catalan would be reflected in its use, which would also be more frequent and more widespread. At the beginning ofthe new millennium the matched-guise technique was applied again, with one new twist: to assess the real extent of prestige associated with speaking Catalan (Casesnoves and Sankoff 2003). Ten years later that study was replicated in order to observe the evolution of linguistic attitudes as well as the progress of the linguistic revitalization process. In this presentation, we compare the two data sets to evaluate the effects of linguistic attitudes on the use of Catalan.Has Catalan gained prestige throughout the years? If so, does it have an influence on language use or, on the contrary, are there any other factors such as identity that play a more important role in influencing the choice of speaking Catalan?

Since the second democratic opening in 1990, Nepal has suffered from a democratic deficit due to the new leaders’ failure to institutionalise democracy by promoting inclusion, representation, and responsiveness. The concept of federalism, as argued in Nepal today, reflects the failure of the past and the determination to give local governance the real political and economic power. The fringe leftist and rightist parties oppose federalism, arguing that it will create deep divisions. Some of them even assume that the country may ultimately disappear altogether. In view of the widespread popular support, the challenge is to use federalism as an opportunity for prudently promoting inclusive, participatory, and responsive governance in the interest of economic prosperity and social well-being of the Nepali people. KEYWORDS: • federalism • monarchy • decentralisation • democracy • transition • constituent assembly • Nepal

The agriculture sector in India has witnessed significant improvements in the adoption of modern technologies and mechanization to enhance crop yield levels in recent decades. The farmers require timely marketing of their produce to improve their liquidity for meeting their expenses. The lack of digitization and dominance of middlemen, poor market support, lack of knowledge, and inability to store their produce for better prices are core issues to be addressed for the economic prosperity of farmers. Today only 27% consumer price value reaches farmers, thus making agriculture a non-viable activity; hence, farmers are becoming poor, bankrupt, and committing suicide. The real fact is that Indian farmers are poor, but agribusiness is very prosperous. Implementing modern agricultural practices, legal farmer produce organizations (FPO), digital kissan hub (DKH) would promote agriculture and agribusiness. This chapter reviewed the digitization in agribusiness and designed a prototype of a Digital Kissan Hub to empower FPO, to enhance farmers income and ensure food security of the nation.

This article posits Arab and Muslim disunity as a function or corollary of a breakdown of imaginative creativity in the Muslim world, precipitated by a series of reactions to external factors which have derailed Islam from its natural role and proactive function as a process of perpetual reformation. The inherent pathology is that the terms of the debates have always been determined by exogenous factors. The potential, authentic avenues for social progress which are native to Islam, and the Islamic heritage which is entirely capable of providing an alternative to Western modernity, have been restricted or negated by this reactive stance, which has developed into a rigid, sterile and debilitating dogmatism. The article argues that the real root of the problem lies in the adoption by Muslims of alien methods and institutions, rather than in the considerable difficulties caused by foreign intervention, and suggests that the solution lies in the will to re-explore the analyses of some of Islam's great original thinkers.

The first part of the article is dedicated to a historical review of the foundation of Brazil’s present Capital - from the very first intentions of the 18th century colonial times when the foundation of a new Capital was seen as part of a movement towards national independence, up to the optimistic 1950s when the project became a fundamental element in a ‘new age’ of social progress and economic prosperity. At the same time, Brasflia was offered as an utopian playground for modem urbanistic and architectural thoughts, formulated by Liicio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer with inspiration from international functionalist trends. The realization of Brasflia contained both the motivation to accelerate national development aiming at integration into the industrial world, and the intention that this new city could humanize an unjust economic system. The second part of the article discusses the urbanistic project and its inherent symbolic and utopian motives, as well as the experiences of the present inhabitants, evaluating the expectations of Brasflia thirty years after.

Asnaf Fi Sabilillah is among the recipients of zakat. This Asnaf has an important role in social development. However, in most Islamic countries, it is realized in a narrow and limited scope only to the aspect of jihad and education, regardless of the wider social interests and welfare of the Muslim countries today. This study aims to explain concepts, distributions and the impact of Asnaf Fi Sabilillah in the process of contemporary social transformation. The study uses a content analysis approach by adapting descriptive-deductive method. The findings show that Asnaf Fi Sabilillah should be applied in the broader meaning of jihad covering all activities that contribute to the development of da'wah for the sake of Allah, if there is no specific fund from a particular party. Asnaf Fi Sabilillah which is managed more effectively is part of revitalizing the country's economy and thus improving its status for social progress. However, its implementation needs to be in line with Shariah law to avoid corrupt governance in the Muslim world.   Keywords: Zakat, Fi Sabilillah, Economic Growth, Virtue and Wellness
