The advantages of using motor transport for transportation of goods are substantiated. On the basis of an analysis of the indicators of the volume of transported goods and the turnover of goods of motor transport in a number of countries of Europe (Austria, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Poland, Finland, France, the Czech Republic, Sweden), reduction of activity in the field of road transportation of goods in 2013 − 2014 and its activation in 2015-2016 are established; in addition, the influence of such negative environmental factors on the activity of road transportation of goods as reduction of the trade turnover of these countries with Russia as a result of the EU sanctions, increasing competition in the road transportation market, and the strengthening of the EU requirements for rolling stock and social guarantees for transportation workers was identified. The statistical data on the volume of transported goods and goods turnover of motor and all types of transport during 2012 − 2017 in Ukraine was explored, and a number of problems were identified that hinder the development of this sphere of activity, the main of which are: low quality of transport infrastructure and, above all, unsatisfactory conditions of road communication lines and corruption in the road construction sector, resulting from inefficient management of the field of activity; low level of safety control as far as road traffic and environmental protection are concerned; environmental pollution by road transport with emissions of harmful gases and transport noise, etc. The basic areas of the development of the sphere of road transportations of goods and of the network of highways are determined.

In article the question at the choice of the rolling stock of passenger motor transport in the BRT system which provides movements of buses on specially allocated and often obgorodzheny strips, that is its full isolation on the road from other means of transport is considered. For increase in passenger capacity in the BRT system use three-link buses and trolleybuses. Along with indisputable advantages of three-link buses and trolleybuses also shortcomings - the worst maneuverability and stability of the movement in comparison with two-link are inherent in them. Besides, the efficiency of operation of such cars is provided with a passenger traffic which during the day can change many times. Therefore the road train as a part of two (or three) the buses or trolleybuses working in connection, і which passenger capacity similar to the jointed buses and trolleybuses can become perspective. In rush hours the bus train, and in interpeak the period - each bus separately works (the possible parking of one bus at allocated to the platform). In view of restriction of the maximum length of the bus train at the level of 24.26 m, as buses as making road trains, we will accept the 8th meter buses MAZ 206. Passenger capacity of such bus is 72 passenger, the power of the traction engine - 160 kW. The expediency of use of three-link hook-on road train is proved by the conducted researches that MAZ 206 with a total length up to 26 m and with a passenger capacity up to 220 passengers in the BRT system consists of three same buses. It is shown that the total power of engines is necessary for the movement of such bus train with a speed of 25 m/s has to make 300 kW while for one bus at the movement with the same speed it has to be at the level of 135 kW. It demonstrates about economic feasibility of use of the bus train from three buses working in connection because for their movement in all range of speeds there is enough power of two engines, that is one of buses can be used as the passive trailer that will lead to improvement of fuel profitability of the bus train. It is established that on maneuverability indicators three links the hook-on road train considerably exceeds three links pivotally - the jointed bus. So, the dimensional lane of the hook-on bus train at execution of the most typical maneuvers by it during the work on a city route does not exceed 3.9 and 4.1 m at turns respectively on 900 and 1800 that it is much less, than for three links pivotally the jointed bus 24 m long respectively of 6.8 and 8.2 m. The countries of the European Union have a huge territory and a large number of objects of transport infrastructure and rolling stock. In these countries, various methods, complex systems and technologies are offered for the organization and management of the cargo transportation process and passengers with traffic safety. The acceptance and admission of rolling stock to operation is carried out in accordance with the requirements set out in document EN 14363. This document defines the main indicators of railway traffic safety, methods, means and conditions for conducting tests of rolling stock on the definition of its qualitative driving characteristics. In the author’s article, the following safety indicators were studied on the EU railways: the coefficient of stability from rolling the wheel flange of the wheel pair onto the rail head, the value of the turning of the trolley relative to the body of the rolling stock (index X), the indicator of the lateral action of the rolling stock on the rails. The stability of the rolling of the wheel of the wheel pair onto the rail head on the EU railways is investigated on the basis of the Nadal’s criterion. The value of the resistance of the trolley rotation relative to the body of the rolling stock is decisive for proving the safety condition against the derailment wheel pairs on the EU railways. With the help of the indicator of the lateral action of the rolling stock on the rails limited the size of the lateral forces to minimize the risk of shifts of rail-sleeper lattice. The article describes how a rolling stock test on EU railways is being conducted to determine the traffic safety indicators. The author notes that in order to determine the possibility of derailment of rolling stock under the norm EN 14363, it is necessary to have the value of the guiding force. However, determining the direction of the force is a complicated and time-consuming process, since it requires a large number of experimental studies. Key words: railways, rolling stock, indicators of sustainability, European Union.

The condition of transportation as one of the pillars of the movement of people from one place to another safely, comfortably, quickly, cheaply in accordance with the environment, with the increasing growth rate of motor vehicles (four-wheeled and two-wheeled) is not balanced with the physical road, so that more dense road transportation, especially in the city, with the socio-economic development of the community will affect parents who provide concessions to their children who have not met the age of driving a motor vehicle, especially two wheels. Thus it will affect the road traffic and will result in the occurrence of violations and accidents. The approach to be used is a normative juridical approach or statutory approach, namely research that examines laws relating to road traffic and transportation in accordance with Law No. 22/2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation. In addition to this approach, the authors also carried out a sociological approach which can empirically be known symptoms of changes in  community behavior towards social development in society related  to road users in Malang. Existence in legislation relating to road users in traffic  can  be obeyed  and minimize the occurrence  of violations, crime, safety and comfort, and accidents. Thus the violation of the law will be reduced and order will be well realized.

The article is devoted to the problems associated freeze with the calculated estimation of the parameters of the structural and heat-insulating antifreeze layer in the subgrade of non-rigid roads on various soil bases. The main physical, technical and deformation characteristics of monolithic dispersed non-autoclaved foam concrete reinforced with polypropylene fiber of grades of density from 600 to 1000 kg/m3 are investigated. Freezing of subsoil waters directly under the roadway pavement and, as a result, its increase in volume, leads to significant deformations of the road surface. Under such conditions, the period of defectfree operation of the roadway pavement is significantly reduced, which in turn leads to the need to repair it in a more intensive mode. One of the ways to reduce the operating cost and maintenance costs of the road transport infrastructure is to introduce into the design and construction practice new structural concepts for road surface dressing that ensure high quality pavement during the normative operational period. This can be achieved by introducing an effective heat-insulating material into the pavement structure as an anti-frost layer in order to elimi-nate the effect of frost lift of the roadway pavement of non-rigid roads. Since domestic and foreign experience freeze in the road construction has proven the effectiveness of the use of heatinsulating materials in the road surface dressing construction, in recent years in Ukraine there has been increased interest in the use of non-autoclaved foam concrete as a modern and highly effective heat-insulating material in road construction. The installation of a heat-insulating layer made of non-autoclaved foam concrete allows us to completely or partially prevent freezing or overheating of the surface dressing base, reduce the influence of periodic variations in environmental temperature, which in turn will increase the durability of the pavement structure. The publication presents nomograms for determining the optimal thickness of the heat-insulating anti-frost heavy course (layer) of road surface dressing (based on sand, loamy sand, clay and loam) done at the street and road network for all climatic and geographical regions of Ukraine.

In recent years, the state of the road transport infrastructure in Ukraine has deteriorated significantly. With the process of urbanization and the expansion of the transport infrastructure, the ecological danger of the functioning of these strategically important objects increases, which requires effective methods of detailed study of the state of environmental components in areas of urban pollution in order to prevent negative consequences. Working with the problematic, using robots, we analyzed the methods to monitor the environmental situation around the road transport infrastructure for the development of recommendations for advancing efficiency. An algorithm for assessing the environmental situation around the objects of motor transport infrastructure is considered, based on monitoring the impact of these objects on the components of the environment and determining the main factors of this influence. The regularities and dependences of the influence of the motor transport infrastructure from the standpoint of environmental safety have been established. The indicators of pollution of the components of the environment in the study areas and methods of their production are analyzed. It has been concluded that a complex combination of chemical research methods with biodication is observable, makes it possible to analyze the effect of vehicles on various components of the environment (atmospheric air, soil and soil solutions, plants, animals, surface waters, etc.) and to establish the level of anthropogenic load. Abstract Pavement structures, layers, and parameters must meet the strict requirements of applicable standards and regulations. The thickness of layers and the choice of materials depend on the factors involved, i.e., the traffic load and climatic factors (changes in temperature, water, rain, snow); they are also dependent on the geological environment at the road construction site and the parameters and properties of the embankment (the subgrade of the pavement). In some cases, the capacity of the existing transport infrastructure is on the edge of sustainability. The increase in the traffic load and the use of lower-class roads by freight transport, together with insufficient maintenance, has resulted in a deterioration of road conditions, thereby causing many deficiencies and failures. The required serviceability and operational performance of roads can be ensured by the choice of suitable quality materials and technological construction processes. Technologies that are environmentally acceptable and economically efficient should be preferred.

The author describes the performed GIS-analysis of the Central Asian transportation systems. The road transportation infrastructure of the whole region and its individual countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) has been studied. The overview of the factors, influencing the formation of regional transportation systems, including historical, political and natural, has been done. The road network of Central Asian countries has been modeled using GIS network analysis toolset, with spatial data provided by OpenStreetMap. The so-called topological tiers of the network have been identified, showing the uneven provision of the studied area with road transport infrastructure. The proposed research method makes it possible to note a high degree of the road network integration between the countries. The areas with low transport accessibility, as well as autonomous parts of road network have been visualized. The research categorizes the countries’ transport networks configurations types formed under the influence of economic, social, agricultural, climatic and topographical factors.
