Studies on the Ammatowa indigenous people have been carried out by several researchers. Unfortunately, none of these studies have focused on the role and position of women in the Ammatowa people, both in their daily lives and in regard  to education. Therefore, this study fills that void. This study aims to identify the position and role of women in the life of the Ammatowa people; what specific roles are performed by women in customary areas; and how the traditions are still firmly held provide space for women to express themselves. As a study of a unique community, this study uses an ethnographic approach, by collecting, classifying, and analyzing the various positions of women in the Ammatowa Kajang community. In the traditional structure of Tana Towa, women have an important, strategic and respected position. In the structure of these customs, there is an important role played by a woman called Angrota who has the task and responsibility of preparing all the needs for traditional ceremonies, facilitating the selection of Ammatowa and inaugurating them. In the economic aspect, women have an important role in supporting the family’s financial, such as weaving, selling in the market, and farming. Meanwhile, education for Tana Towa women is still a major issue that needs serious attention. It is because the education world is related to issues of customs, and the family economy.

The concept of family economy in the context of extreme poverty is of interest when it comes to analyzing the strategies displayed to prevent or reduce the effects of this situation of exclusion. Gender roles in the nucleus of the family institution will indicate the distribution of these tasks, so that we can understand, in the case of the role of women, the specific weight of their actions in this scenario. For this work, an investigation of our object of study was carried out for the period 1968–2019. A bibliometric analysis of 2182 articles was carried out in which the final versions of articles, books, and book chapters whose subject matter was related to the categories of family economy and poverty were included. The most productive journal was the Journal of Development Economics, while World Economies was the most cited. The authors with the most articles were Ravaillon, Sadoulet, and Lanjouw. The most productive institution was the World Bank. The country with the most publications and citations was the United States. Future research should focus on analyzing the role of women within the family economy in the context of poverty. Thus, a line of research is proposed that also includes the proposals from the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which means an urgent call for action by all countries.

This paper  intends to explain the role of non-normal education in empowering women to improve the family economy. Empowerment is an approach in which women are provided with educational or training services so that they have a set of venture capital to improve their economic conditions. This research was conducted using qualitative research methods, namely describing the phenome of the implementation of women's empowerment through non-formal education to improve the family economy as developed by Pahlawan Ekonomi (PE) in the city of Surabaya. The implication of empowering women is the acquisition of a new set of knowledge, experiences, skills, and attitudes so that participants are able to apply them in their daily lives to increase their income. Economic activities in the family are generally the responsibility of the husband, but not all families are able to meet their needs if they only rely on their income from the husband. Wives (women) generally only receive what their husband's income is, even though women have the potential to participate in increasing family income. It is time for the participation of women (wives) in improving the family economy to be developed. Women do not only depend on their husband's economic income, but on how they also play a role in supporting the improvement of the family economy. Women's participation in increasing the family economy should start from empowering women through education or training that is suitable for their situation and condition.Education that is suitable for empowering women is integrated non-formal education, namely non-formal education whose content of learning is related to the problems or needs of the families of students, namely improving the family economy. The results of this study indicate that the participants of non-formal education (through education and training) experienced changes in their mental attitudes and awareness of the importance of women's involvement (wives) in family economic activities. They do not depend on their husbands anymore, and they attend training in economic skills, so that at the end of the activity they acquire a set of skills that can be used to open new businesses that support the family economy.   Keywords: Empowerment, Nonformal Education, Family Economy

The ideology of state-ibuism has always been interwoven with how the New Order regime until nowadays government constructing the “ideal” role of women in the family and community through the PKK (Pembinaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga) organization. However, in Cangkring Village, Indramayu, the ideology of ibuism works not because of the massive government regulating the role of women through the PKK organization, but it is possible because of the structure of the kampung community itself. Through involved observations and in-depth interviews about a kindergarten in the village, a group of housewives who dedicated themselves to teaching in kindergarten were met without getting paid high. From these socio-cultural phenomenons, this paper will describe descriptively and analytically that housewives in the Cangkring village are willing to become kindergarten teachers because of their moral burden as part of the warga kampung and also from community pressure from people who want their children to be able to read and write.

Islamic law and women are one of mostly debated discourses bycontemporary Islamic thinkers particularly those who are gender issuesproponents. That discourse grows due to the accuse towards Islam thatthis religion is the source of gender inequality for women through outmuslim world especially in education, fairness and domestic freedom aswell as social welfare in the family. The assumption is that Islamic law ismale-based law. Therefore, it is a need to explore the note on Islamic lawdevelopment which is perceived from the role of women in the early age oflaw construction not from the aspect of the thought of classical ulama inthe middle age. This paper tries to explore and to discuss mainly the role ofSiti Aisyah as the teacher and the transmitter of hadith as the foundation ofIslamic law construction to underline women’s position and contributionas the law maker that it will prove that Islamic law is not merely men-basedlaw as the assumption grows.
