OBJECTIVE: We analyze the socio-demographic profile of the dentistry graduates at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, 2010-2011, the reasons which led them to choose Dentistry, appreciation for the course, as well as job prospects and Graduate studies. METHODS: Cross-sectional, observational study Dentistry graduates, classes of 2010-2/ 2011-1 (n=76, 90.5% response rate). Data collection took place through the giving of a structured and anonymous pre-tested questionnaire. Results were grouped in tables and graphs by means of the distribution of the frequency of variables studied (descriptive analysis), with the assistance of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows 17.0. This Study was approved by the Committee on Ethics in Research of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (18249). RESULTS: The classes of 2010-2/ 2011-1 Dentistry Graduates of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, were, in their majority, women, young, single, childless, natives of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, with a monthly salary income of 10 to 20 minimum salaries and without the presence of dentists in the family. More than 90% of these students were satisfied with the choice of Dentistry. They opted for the course especially due to personal as well as professional success, followed by security and peace of mind and financial comfort. The great part of the students evaluated the course as good or excellent. They intend, as a majority, to work in the public service as well as private practice and graduate work, particularly, specialization. CONCLUSION: Results identified the profile of the classes of 2010-2/ 2011-1 Dentistry graduate of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, classes of 2010-2/2011-1. It has been recommended that there be a permanent follow up of the graduates as an important instrument for monitoring the students as well as the development of the current integrated curriculum.

ABSTRACTMany studies have been carried out, mainly in the last decades, to understand the normal and pathological process of aging in the different areas of knowledge. However, many gaps still remain in the progress of science. In this sense, the overall objective of the present study was to evaluate the comparison between the performance of congruent elderly people in Brazil and Finland. The study method had a quantitative, descriptive cross - sectional design. The sample consisted of 194 subjects of both sexes, aged between 60 and 79 years, residing in the municipality of Ivoti / Rio Grande do Sul / Brazil and 93 subjects, both genders aged 65 to 85 years residing in Riihimäki / Finland. The instrument used was the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). Data were analyzed statistically in SPSS version 25.0 through descriptive analysis of frequency and comparison of means by the Mann Whitney test (p≤0.05). The results showed that the cognitive performance of elderly people in the Ivoti group was significantly higher than those of Riihimäki. It can be concluded that cultural variables influenced outcomes, such as experiences in the early stages of human development and current interpersonal relationships.Keywords: Cognitive performance. Elderly. RESUMOMuitos estudos têm sido realizados, principalmente nas últimas décadas, para compreender o processo normal e patológico de envelhecimento, nas diferentes áreas do conhecimento. Entretanto, muitas lacunas ainda se mantêm presentes no progresso da ciência. Neste sentido, o objetivo geral do presente estudo foi avaliar a comparação entre o desemepnho congitivo de pessoas idosas residentes no Brasil e na Finlândia. O método do estudo teve um delineamento quantitativo, descritivo e transversal. A amostra compreendeu 194 sujeitos, de ambos os sexos, com idade entre 60 e 79 anos, residentes no município de Ivoti/Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil e 93 sujeitos, de ambos os sexos com idade entre 65 e 85 anos residentes em Riihimäki/Finlândia. O instrumento utilizado foi o Mini Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM). Os dados foram analisados estatisticamente no programa SPSS versão 25.0 através de análises descritivas de frequência e de comparação de médias pelo teste Mann Whitney (p≤0,05). Os resultados demonstraram que o desempenho cognitivo das pessoas idosas do grupo de Ivoti foi significativamente maior que os de Riihimäki. Pode-se concluir que variáveis culturais influenciaram os resultados, tais como experiências nas fases iniciais do desenvolvimento humano e as relações interpessoais atuais.Palavras-chave: Desempenho cognitivo. No contexto político-social, pós-Constituição Federal de 1988, a conquista de direitos pelos povos indígenas exige o estabelecimento de uma nova relação com o Estado (e suas respectivas instituições) visando à construção de políticas públicas específicas. O objetivo deste artigo é fazer uma reflexão sobre a minha experiência vivenciada como antropóloga da ação junto a coletivos Guarani no Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, na execução de uma política de etnodesenvolvimento que buscou atender sua reivindicação pelo apoio do poder público no processo de construção de suas casas de rezas [opy]. Diante da realidade da falta de terras e/ou a ocupação de terras ambientalmente inadequadas, lideranças e representantes Guarani ocupam o seu lugar no diálogo interétnico e acionam a política nacional para garantir o seu espaço ritual e, a partir dele, o que acreditam ser o seu bem viver.Palavras chave: Políticas Públicas. Atualmente, a responsabilização dos agentes políticos na gestão pública desperta a atenção dos cidadãos e, também, de diversas entidades tanto civis quanto governamentais. Com o surgimento dos chamados portais de transparência, que dispõem de informações sobre os gastos públicos e outras questões da Administração Pública, ampliou-se a possibilidade de análise das atividades do gestor público. Assim, o objetivo geral da pesquisa é examinar a legislação sobre a prestação de contas e verificar a relação com a “accountability”. A pesquisa se utiliza dos estudos de O´Donnell, Koppel e Denhardt, baseada em uma abordagem qualitativa para investigar se ocorre indícios de “accountability” nas prestações de contas dos prefeitos do Rio Grande do Sul, no período de 2006 a 2008 e qual a sua abrangência. Através da análise de dados foram identificados os temas mais citados e quais as ocorrências que levaram o Tribunal de Contas a considerar tais prestações de contas com pareceres desfavoráveis. A pesquisa gerou uma reflexão sobre o conceito de “accountability”, expondo a realidade administrativa desses municípios e sua importância para o atendimento das demandas sociais. Oportunizou o estudo da Lei de Responsabilidade Fiscal, mostrando a sua contribuição para a gestão pública eficiente, que resulte em melhorias sociais, mas também a necessidade de maior rigor punitivo para aqueles gestores, que não a cumprem. Espera-se ampliar debates sobre a “accountability” e, assim, contribuir para políticas públicas efetivas.Palavras-chave: Agente Político. Políticas Públicas. Lei de Responsabilidade FiscalAbstractNowadays the empowerment of public agents in public administration arouses the attention of both citizens and manycivilian and governmental entities. With the emergence of the transparency portals that have information about public costs and other issues of public administration, expanding the possibility of analyzing the public manager activities. Thus, the main objective of this research is to examine the legislation about account and verify its relationship with the “accountability”. The research uses especially de O´Donnell, Koppel andDenhardt studies, based on a qualitative approach to investigate the evidence of “accountability” in the account of Rio Grande do Sul city halls during the period from 2006 to 2008. Through data analysis, the most frequent themes were identified and what the events are that led the Court to consider such accounts with unfavorable opinions. This research created a reflection about the “accountability” concept, showing the administrative reality of this cities and their relevance to meet the social demands. It provided an opportunity to study the Fiscal Responsibility Law, showing its contribution from an efficient public management, resulting in social improvements, but also the need of greater punitive rigor for those managers who do not comply. In 2018, Rio Grande do Sul (RS) had some of the highest HIV/AIDS rates in Brazil, and we did not find any studies about the HIV care and treatment cascade (HCTC) related to this state. We aimed to estimate the indicators of HCTC of RS, Brazil, and associated factors. A cross-sectional study with all people living with HIV (PLWH) in RS between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2017 was conducted using a national database which registers all HIV notifications, CD4 and viral load laboratory data and antiretroviral therapy (ART) usage in the public health system. We considered sex, age, education, race, year of HIV diagnosis, and health region as predictor factors, and defined linkage to care, retention to care, being on ART, and having undetectable viral load as the HCTC indicators. Descriptive analysis and multivariable logistic regression were performed using Stata 15.2. A total of 116,121 PLWH were diagnosed, 79,959 were linked to care, 72,117 retained in care, 69,219 on ART, and 54,857 had undetectable viral load from 2014 to 2017. We observed greatest attrition for younger age, non-white, and lower education in all HCTC indicators. Women are more likely to have undetectable viral load (OR = 1.04, 95% CI: 1.01–1.07), even though they are less likely to be retained to care (OR = 0.92; 95% CI: 0.89–0.96) and on ART (OR = 0.82; 95% CI: 0.78–0.86). Although all HCTC indicators have increased over the period and the “test and treat” policy indicates improvements in ART and in undetectable viral load outcomes, evidence suggests specific attrition and disparities such as those related to HIV healthcare facilities should be addressed. These findings may be used by researchers, health professionals, and policymakers in order to investigate and implement interventions to better engage PLWH across the HCTC.

ResumoEste artigo apresenta uma análise do cenário emergido com a efetivação da Política de Educação Museal (PNEM), temática principal, e a participação das Redes de Educadores em Museus, vivenciadas pelos sujeitos da dinâmica educacional em instituições culturais desde a sua concepção. Relata a participação da Rede de Educadores em Museus do Rio Grande do Sul (REM-RS), na elaboração compartilhada do Programa de Educação Museal, no período de 2012 a 2017. Tem o objetivo de evidenciar tensões experimentadas pelo museu, a escola e por seus agentes nas atividades do setor educacional museológico. Sugere que as ações empreendidas para fomentar a incorporação da PNEM às instituições museológicas sejam efetivadas de forma articulada e com indispensável reconfiguração de acordo com os princípios e diretrizes da política pública voltada aos museus brasileiros, enquanto referencial para o setor. Destaca a Carta de Petrópolis, a Carta de Belém e a Carta de Porto Alegre documentos que demonstram a participação e as discussões, presenciais e em rede, geradas pelos profissionais efetivamente envolvidos nos processos de construção que resultaram na referida política.  Conclui com relatos de experiências e atividades na formação docente no espaço museológico como forma de adequar o trabalho educacional em museus ao PNEM.Palavras-chave: Educação Museal. Formação docente. NATIONAL POLICY OF MUSEAL EDUCATION - PNEM:Museums, Education and Networks  Abstract               This article presents an analysis of the emerged scenario with the implementation of the Museum Education Policy (PNEM), the main theme, and the participation of the Educator Networks in Museums, experienced by the subjects of the educational dynamics in cultural institutions from their conception. It reports on the participation of the Network of Educators in Museums of Rio Grande do Sul (REM-RS), in the shared elaboration of the Museum Education Program, from 2012 to 2017. Its objective is to tensions experienced by the museum, the school and its agents in the activities of the museum educational sector. It suggests that the actions undertaken to promote the incorporation of PNEM to museological institutions should be carried out in an articulated manner and with an indispensable reconfiguration in accordance with the principles and guidelines of the public policy focused on Brazilian museums, as a reference for the sector. The Petrópolis Charter, the Belém Charter and the Porto Alegre Charter emphasize the documents that demonstrate the participation and the discussions, both in person and in a network, generated by the professionals effectively involved in the construction processes that resulted in this policy. Concludes with reports of experiences and activities in teacher training in the museum space as a way to adapt the educational work in museums to the PNEM. Key words: Museum Education. Networks. Este artigo analisa os resultados da segunda etapa da pesquisa Escrita criativa na Academia: a formação do escritor, desenvolvida desde 2015 no Programa de Pós-graduação em Letras (PPGL) PUCRS, cujo objetivo geral é verificar a estrutura curricular e as condições de ensino oferecidas pelos cursos de mestrado e doutorado voltados para a formação do escritor e do pesquisador na área de Escrita Criativa na universidade. Nesta etapa, procurou-se verificar qual a percepção dos discentes acerca das disciplinas oferecidas, bem como os procedimentos metodológicos adotados no curso, visando melhor adequação dessas propostas, bem como apontar caminhos para uma implantação ampla da Área da Escrita Criativa no Brasil. *** Alumni methodological and curricular notes for postgraduate courses in Creative Writing in Brazil ***This article analyses the results of the second stage of the research Creative Writing in Academia: the writer’s education, developed since 2015 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) Graduate Program in Letters. The general objective is to verify the curricular structure and the teaching conditions offered by the Masters and Doctoral courses focusing on the education of writers and researchers in the area of Creative Writing at PUCRS. The main purpose of this is paper is to presents the Theil-T index based on the laws of physics and Shannon´s modern mathematical theory of communication to measure income inequality. This index enables to use stratum data by income besides to estimating the inequality intra stratum. The methodology will be  illustrated with an  application to measure the inequality   in the formal labor market in  Santa Maria city in  Rio Grande do Sul, using  social characteristics  as gender, age and education level  and,  attributes of the own market like  sphere of activity and economic activity  from 2000 to 2009. Although the ex-inequality index calculated using the characteristics above mentioned is classified as medium low according to the PNUD classification, the index  emphasizes the importance of assessing the distribution of income considering the local conditions of each micro region  in order to direct the public politics  to correct the most influential determinants of disparities.

Este trabalho apresenta os resultados de uma investigação de natureza qualitativa realizada em aulas de educação física em escolas públicas da cidade de Porto Alegre—RS. O propósito do estudo foi examinar a relação entre a produção de conhecimento e 3 prática profissional de futuros professores de educação física. A pesquisa enfocou o ensino de um elemento específico da cultura física brasileira (futebol) a estudantes de 5a a 8a série, durante o período de um semestre acadêmico, por 11 estudantes em fase de conclusão de curso, da Escola de Educação Física da Universidade Federal de Rio Grande do Sul.  This work presents the results of a qualitative investigation carried out in physical education classes in the public schools of the city of Porto Alegre -RS. The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between the production of knowledge in physical education and the professional practice of future physical education teachers. The research focused on the teaching of a specific element of the Brazilian physical culture (soccer) to students of 5th to 8th grades during a period of an academic term by 11 final year undergraduate students of the Faculty of Physical Education of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.

Efforts to control the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic include drastic measures such as isolation, social distancing, and lockdown. These restrictions are accompanied by serious adverse consequences such as forgoing of healthcare. The study aimed to assess the prevalence and correlates of forgone care for a variety of healthcare services during a two-month COVID-19 lockdown, using Andersen’s Behavioral Model of Healthcare Utilization. A cross-sectional study using computerized phone interviews was conducted with 302 Israeli Jewish participants aged 40 and above. Almost half of the participants (49%) reported a delay in seeking help for at least one needed healthcare service during the COVID-19 lockdown period. Among the predisposing factors, we found that participants aged 60+, being more religious, and reporting higher levels of COVID-19 fear were more likely to report forgone care than younger, less religious and less concerned participants. Among need factors, a statistically significant association was found with a reported diagnosis of diabetes, with participants with the disease having a considerably higher likelihood of forgone care. The findings stress the importance of developing interventions aimed at mitigating the phenomenon of forgoing care while creating nonconventional ways of consuming healthcare services. In the short term, healthcare services need to adapt to the social distancing and isolation measures required to stanch the epidemic. In the long term, policymakers should consider alternative ways of delivering healthcare services to the public regularly and during crisis without losing sight of their budgetary consequences. They must recognize the possibility of having to align medical staff to the changing demand for healthcare services under conditions of health uncertainty.

O objetivo do presente trabalho é investigar e analisar os discursos estabelecidos de futuros professores de um curso de licenciatura em Letras - Português e Inglês, de uma universidade comunitária, componente do COMUNG-RS, localizada no Rio Grande do Sul, buscando entender como ocorre a formação dos futuros docentes em língua inglesa e os processos de ensino-aprendizagem que a envolvem, com ênfase para a articulação pedagógica com as tecnologias de informação e comunicação (TIC) de modo integrado. É um estudo de caso, enquanto método de cunho qualitativo, empregando a análise textual discursiva como método de análise de dados. Dessa forma, como resultado, os discursos revelam que a formação dos futuros professores envolvidos engloba a discussão acerca das TIC, mas não de forma satisfatória, revelando em suas práticas, que os futuros profissionais tendem a uma perspectiva técnica de ensino sobre as TIC. O meio pelo qual tal viés possa ser abandonado, é que a formação de professores considere um ensino transversal a partir das TIC, não apenas em disciplinas isoladas e ainda que seja realizado por meio de todos os profissionais envolvidos.Palavras-chave: Formação de professores. Análise textual discursiva (ATD).INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES: case study with future language teachers Abstract The aim of this paper is to investigate and analyze the established discourses of future teachers of a degree course in Letters - Portuguese and English, from a community university, component of COMUNG-RS, located in Rio Grande do Sul, seeking to understand how occours the formation of future teachers in English language and the teaching-learning processes that involve it, with emphasis on the pedagogical articulation with information and communication technologies (ICT) in an integrated way. It is a case study, as a qualitative method, using discursive textual analysis as a data analysis method. Thus, as a result, the speeches reveal that the formation of the future teachers involved encompasses the discussion about ICT, but not satisfactorily, revealing in their practices that future professionals tend to a technical perspective of teaching about ICT. The means by which such bias can be abandoned is for teacher education to consider cross-sectional education based on ICT, not only in isolated subjects and even though it is carried out by all the professionals involved.Keywords: Teacher training. Es un estudio de caso, como método cualitativo, que utiliza el análisis textual discursivo como método de análisis de datos. Por lo tanto, como resultado, los discursos revelan que la formación de los futuros maestros involucrados abarca la discusión sobre las TIC, pero no de manera satisfactoria, revelando en sus prácticas que los futuros profesionales tienden a una perspectiva técnica de la enseñanza sobre las TIC. El medio por el cual se puede abandonar este sesgo es que la formación del profesorado considere la educación transversal basada en las TIC, no solo en asignaturas aisladas y aunque sea realizada por todos los profesionales involucrados.Palabras clave: Formación de profesores.
