The sphere of mass communication is changing rapidly nowadays. To estimate the situation correctly and forecast changes to follow one needs to apply modern research methods. Among such methods there is mathematical modelling. The logical construction that is a mathematical model can substitute and at the same time describe different aspects of the phenomenon studied. Analysis of the model can provide researchers with new information about the phenomenon and allows one to discover regularities not found before. The raticle considers the opportunity of a new media channel appearing in the new future as a result of applying modelling to research into evolution of mass media. The article proves that the main difference between media channels is the fact that they affect different senses connected to the type of the representative system of a particular person. The authors conclude that the fast-developing technologies of virtual reality provide the recipient with an opportunity to receive information at a new level owing to the multisensory perception experience. The article gives examples of effective applying of this technologies to science and production, as well as to the new trend in journalism, i.e. immersive journalism. Immersive technologies are the reason for a new informative-communicative environment to emerge, i.e. VRmedia.

Mass media is one of the leading sectors in handling COVID-19. Amidst current health emergency, public trusttowards the information conveyed by the mass media is the key to successful mitigation. Various types of newsregarding massive COVID-19 reports in several media channels have the potential to cause information bias whichends in pros and cons. Insubstantial debates in varied media are counter-productive to the efforts of various partiesin educating the society to avoid misinformation. Based on this, it is important to know the media that are referencesand that gain public trust in seeking information. This study examines the level of public trust in information aboutCOVID-19 in the mass media, both old and new media, using an online questionnaire methodology on May 3, 2020,which was given to 60 respondents. The results show that the respondents’ level of faith in television is higher, but itsconsumption by viewers is much lower than that of online media (news sites and social media). The results showedthat viewers still deemed television a reliable reference for information. From these data it was found out why themedia are rarely used by the people but are able to gain high trust in the eyes of the public. The results of this studyare expected to provide an overview of the attitudes and behavior of the community in understanding COVID-19information so that relevant parties can make appropriate policies in the perspectives of media and communication.

This chapter begins by looking at the importance of knowledge and information in agricultural development. Then the chapter discusses how the traditional mass media channels, viz., radio, print and television had been instrumental in India’s agricultural technology transfer. Next, it explores the characteristics of new media, the problems associated with the advent of Internet and how self-help groups and ICTs could be effectively used in technology transfer. The focus narrows to a comparative study on the effectiveness of traditional and new media in communicating farm technologies. Finally, the chapter examines how the extension agents, based on the results could formulate communication strategies for effectively using the mass media channels.

Abstract The use of mass communication in the field of foreign language teaching is not a new phenomenon, because traditional media have been in use in this area for a few decades. Nowadays, however, several tendencies confirming the scale of this phenomenon can be observed. Mass media, and new media in particular, are used both in the process of self-education and as an important tool used by foreign language teachers. Technological progress, the communication revolution, the spread of the Internet, and the development of new media and mobile technologies offer modern and more effective methods of language education. This article reviews the conditions relating to the relationship between mass media and language learning, taking into account the possibility of using one of the key functions of mass communication, namely its educational function. The authors, using literature analysis, defined and analyzed the causes of specific symbiosis between media tools and technologies as well as the methodology used in the field of foreign language teaching.

The article deals with the phenomenon of mediatization of anti-corruption policies. The authors study theoretical treatment of the role of the mass media in anti-corruption practices and analyze methodological approaches to interpretation of the mediatization. These include discourse-linguistic, cratologic, and resource-communication approaches. The discourse-linguistic approach involves mainly an analysis of the contents of media texts and images that generate a required public opinion and form stable cognitive matrices of peoples anti-corruption thinking. The cratologic approach regards mediacracy as both government institution and a subject of an anti-corruption policy. It also helps to find a number of information techniques (like agenda-setting, priming, framing, etc.) aimed at forming a legal anti-corruption culture. The resource-communication approach describes mediatization of anti-corruption policies by means of citizen journalism, new media and a vast range of mass communication media. The authors make an attempt to identify key features of the process of mediatization of anti-corruption policy at different stages of its development. The term «mediatization of anti-corruption policy» is defined as a system of measures to provide information support for anti-corruption activities. It is inferred that, overall, the contemporary mass media are successfully accumulating a required technological, organizational and communicative potential for information warfare against corruption. However, extra efforts and the national will would sufficiently add to the efficiency of this potential.

The article analyzes the impact of globalization processes on the development of information and communication potential of mass media in the Republic of Mordovia. Such concepts as “globalization,” “information and communication globalization,” “content of the epoch,” “acceleration of the rhythm of time,” “glocalization” are clarified and justified. The positive and negative consequences of the impact of glocal processes on the development of the region are presented. The author summarizes the research on new media and the processes of digitalization of the information system and highlights the main factors of globalization in regional media. There is a quantitative growth of mass communication media in the Republic of Mordovia and the development of the entire system of media communications. It is proved that globalization in the media of the Republic of Mordovia, as well as in other regions, is carried out through digitalization, which is represented in all information processes, while glocalization is manifested in the preservation of regional and national characteristics. Based on the thematic analysis of the media texts of Mordovia, it is shown that the vast majority of materials are devoted to events in the region, that is, on the one hand, the audience remains highly interested in regional topics, and on the other hand, regional news reaches the federal and even global level. It is noted that the federal network media does not manage to take a significant place in the region and this gives scope for the development of the local press.

The presence of new media as a manifestation of advances in science and technology has changed the mass communication model that is generally carried out by mass media from one to many becomes many to many, where anyone can now become a maker of information and through new media disseminate it. This condition then obscures the function of the press institution as well as raises the question of whether the mass media have been marginalized. However, the presence of this new media simultaneously helps media institutions in expanding their reach. This study intends to find out how print media journalists as conventional media interpret and experience new media in their daily lives as journalists are faced with the presence of new media. Through the phenomenological study method and Alfred Schutzs phenomenological theory, the results of this research are that journalists interpret new media as a source of initial information, challenges that spur work, complementary partners and information and entertainment media. While the experiences of journalists include being required to work quickly and produce in-depth reports, seek information through social media without leaving the reporting agenda and use social media to disseminate news, educate and participate collectively.

The article analyzes the communication process of modern mass media. Journalism, holding true to its methods of undestanding reality, turns to the postmodern manner of writing. Dialogueness of mass communication is built on different levels. Speech reflects contradictory processes, which occur in our life and are accompanied by changing moral values and spiritual guidelines. Language occurrences in different kinds of mass communication break up the foundations of Russian culture. A new information environment should be created in agreement with the historical traditions and linguistic culture of the society.

Hamas, Hezbollah and The Houthis are terror movements that use sophisticated means of information flow to a general public through TV, radio and New Media channels, while making use of the newest broadcasting equipment, skilled substances and target specific audiences (culminating with western countries). This study will relate through a scrutinization of these terror movements media in specific test cases, to the following hypotheses: These terror movements are guided by Iran as proxies in order to conduct pro-Iranian cognitive warfare. The test cases had proven a use of meticulous planning in broadcasts or New-Media of Hamas, Hezbollah and The Houthis. These broadcasts or New-Media, presented a use of pre-planned targeting of specific substances to designated audiences. There is Irani involvement in the substances and coordination of Hamas, Hezbollah and The Houthis use of media and technology.

ABSTRACT The development of communication technology has caused a shift or change in the concept of communication in particular the characteristics of mass communication. This study aims to find changes about the characteristics of mass communication in the current era of media convergence. In addition, to describe new forms of media that can be categorized into mass communication. The research method uses a qualitative approach to data collection techniques through document studies and literature review and interviews in mass communication courses. The informants of this study were lecturers of mass communication courses at the Bachelor of Communication Studies and Journalism FISIP S1 University of Bengkulu, as well as two groups of students who explained the characteristics of mass communication. The results showed that the development of communication technology at this time had contributed thoughts in the discussion about the transformation of the characteristics of mass media communication from conventional to digital. New forms of media that can be categorized based on these characteristics are online media, such as print media that have been changed by online systems, digital television and radio streaming. The characteristics of the mass media in some literatures have changed in one direction or have been interactive. Keywords; transformation, mass communication, convergence, new media, characteristics ABSTRAK Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi telah menyebabkan pergeseran atau perubahan dalam konsep komunikasi khususnya karakteristik komunikasi massa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan perubahan tentang karakteristik komunikasi massa di era konvergensi media sekarang ini. Selain itu, untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk media baru yang dapat dikategori kedalam komunikasi massa. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui studi dokumen dan kajian literatur dan wawancara pada matakuliah komunikasi massa. Informan penelitian ini adalah dosen pengasuh matakuliah komunikasi massa di prodi S1 Ilmu Komunikasi dan S1 Jurnalistik FISIP Universitas Bengkulu, serta dua kelompok mahasiswa yang memaparkan tentang karakteristik komunikasi massa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perkembangan teknologi komunikasi saat ini telah memberikan kontribusi pemikiran pada pembahasan mengenai transformasi karakteristik komunikasi media massa dari yang konvensional menuju digital. Bentuk media baru yang dapat dikategorikan berdasarkan karakteristik tersebut yaitu media online, seperti media cetak yang dirubah dengan sistem online, televisi digital dan radio streaming. Karakteristik media massa dalam beberapa literature menjadi berubah kakteristiknya tidak satu arah lagi atau sudah interaktif. This research further examines the video entitled “what is the truth about post-factual politics?” about the case in the United States related to Trump and in the UK related to Brexit. The phenomenon of Post truth/post factual also occurs in Indonesia as seen in the political struggle experienced by Ahok in the governor election (DKI Jakarta). Through Michel Foucault's approach to post truth with assertive logic, the mass media is constructed for the interested parties and ignores the real reality. The conclusion of this study indicates that new media was able to spread various discourses ranging from influencing the way of thoughts, behavior of society to the ideology adopted by a society.Keywords: Post factual, post truth, new media
