Most causes of infant death are problems that occur in newborn/neonatal (0-28 days old), Low Birth Weight Babies (LBW) is one of the factors which has a contribution to infant mortality, especially in the neonatal period. Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) is a benchmark in determining the degree of public health, both at the National and Provincial levels. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Kangaroo Mother Care Method (KMC) on the prevention of hypothermia in low birth weight infants at Morowali District Hospital in 2019. The type of research used was a quasi-experiment. The population is all low birth weight babies born from May to July 2019. The sample in this study was all newborns with low birth weight born from May to July 2019, totaling 30 babies. There is a difference (influence) on the baby's body temperature before and after KMC with a p-value=0,000. The kangaroo mother care can continue to be affiliated considering its benefits for both infants and mothers, as well as increasing the ability of health workers in conducting KMC so that they can provide in-house training for mothers to be carried out at home.

This individually randomized trial was conducted to estimate the effect of promoting community-initiated Kangaroo Mother Care (ciKMC) in low birth weight (LBW) infants on gut inflammation and permeability. Participants included 200 stable LBW infants (weighing 1,500–2,250 g) in North India enrolled between May and October 2017. The ciKMC intervention included promotion and support of continuous skin-to-skin contact and exclusive breastfeeding through home visits. The mothers in the intervention arm were supported to practice ciKMC until 28 days after birth, i.e., the neonatal period, or till the baby wriggled out of KMC position, if earlier. Infant stool specimens were collected during the first week of birth, and within 1 week after end of the neonatal period. Concentrations of fecal neopterin (nmol/L), myeloperoxidase (ng/mL), and alpha-1-antitrypsin (μg/mL) were determined using ELISA, and composite enteric enteropathy (EE) score at the end of the neonatal period was calculated by principal component analysis. We did not find any substantial difference in means between the ciKMC and control arm infants in the log-transformed values of neopterin (0.03; 95% CI −0.15 to 0.21), myeloperoxidase (0.28; 95% CI −0.05 to 0.61) and alpha-1-antitrypsin (0.02; 95% CI −0.30 to 0.34). The mean (SD) composite EE score was 13.6 (7.5) in the ciKMC and 12.4 (8.3) in the control arm infants, and the adjusted difference in means was negligible, 0.4 (95% CI −1.8 to 2.7). Our findings suggest that the promotion of ciKMC did not affect gut inflammation and permeability in our target population of LBW infants in North India.

Birth weight is one factor of neonates that can cause asphyxia neonatorum and is one indicator ofthe health of the newborn. The result of Riskesdas 2013 explained the low birth weight infants is 10.2% and WHO data shows every year about 3% of 120 million newborn have asphyxia. This study aims to analyze the correlation of low birth weight infants with neonatorum asphyxia incidence in dr. Iskak Tulungagung Hospital year 2016. This study was executed on July 18 to 19 2017 in dr.Iskak Tulungagung Hospital. The type research used analytical survey with correlational design and retrospective cohort study. Independent variable was low birth weight infants and dependent variable was neonatorum asphyxia. The population was 949 and sample was 162 with Simple Random Sampling technique, and used medical record instruments. From the 162 samples, found that almost half of respondents were 46.9% experienced low birth weight infants and almost all of the respondents were 88.3% experienced asphyxia neonatorum. Based on chi square test obtained (p)=0.001<(α)=0,05 and C=0,257, it means there is significant correlation between low birth weight infants and asphyxia with low correlation neonatorum. Odds ratio is 9,116, it means that risk of asphyxia neonatorum at low birth weight infants is 9.116 times great than normal birth weight infant. At the low birth weight infants a lot of risk of problems in the body because immaturity of organ system, so easily attacked by complications such as an asphyxia neonatorum.

Kangaroo care is a simple way of caring for a newborn in which the mother uses her body temperature to warm the baby. Benefits of Kangaroo Treatment Method: warms the baby and stabilizes the baby's vital signs because premature babies tend to be low in weight, fat tissue in their bodies also tends to be thinner. Increasing the duration of sleep, the mechanism that occurs during skin contact with the skin of the mother and baby can increase the hormone cortisol in the baby which has an impact on the quality of the baby's sleep. Reduces crying and wasted calories from babies. Increasing baby weight and brain development Premature babies tend to have low birth weight and sometimes find it difficult to reach the ideal weight. This method can make the baby sleep more soundly, so that the energy can be channeled to improve body functions and build body tissues better. This way, you can gain weight more quickly. Improving the emotional connection of the baby and the mother KMC increases the bonding between the mother and the baby and is a therapeutic intervention to increase the closeness of the mother, promoting natural behavior to stimulate growth and development. Facilitate breastfeeding The position of the kangaroo method makes it easier for babies to suckle from their mothers while triggering breast milk to come out more easily. Some research shows that this method is also good for dealing with the problem of insufficient breast milk. Mothers and families feel more satisfied because they play a role in caring for the baby while in the hospital and at home. The purpose of this study was to find out how the description of public knowledge about kangaroo care methods in low birth weight infants. Kangaroo Care Method is a treatment given to babies with Low Birth Weight (LBW) as an alternative to an incubator. This method uses direct contact between the mother's skin and baby's skin or skin to skin contact. The kangaroo method not only replaces the care of the incubator but also provides benefits that cannot be provided by the incubator. Increasing the baby's body temperature, stabilizing heart rate and breathing, and increasing milk production, decreases the incidence of infection in infants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the use of the kangaroo method on LBW in Karawang Hospital. The cross-sectional research method uses secondary data through treatment records in the medical record. The study sample was 106 LBW infants treated at Karawang Hospital in the 2018 period. Analysts used average difference test data to see the effectiveness of using the kangaroo method in increasing infant weight. Results: There is an effect of the use of the kangaroo method to increase the baby's weight P-value 0,0001. Recommendation: It is expected that the use of the kangaroo method on LBW can be made into policy at the hospital with the support of health workers and facilities so that families can implement kangaroo mother care (KMC) in full.
