Background: The formation of the appropriate level of future teachers’ foreign language communicative competence is possible with the help of effective methods and technologies which enhance students learning, motivate them and involve in different activities. Problem-based learning is regarded as one of the most appropriate technologies to be used+ for future foreign language teacher training. Purpose: The purpose of the article is to characterize problem-based learning and substantiate the conditions of its effec­tive usage for the formation of future teachers foreign language communicative competence. Results: The formation of the appropriate level of future teachers foreign language communicative competence with the help of problem-based learning will be effective under the following conditions: individual approach to students; taking into ac­count their interests, aims; focus on the development of strategic competence; employing communicative, cognitive, cultural, research (linguistic and pedagogical) problem-based tasks which develop necessary skills; gradual difficulty increase; profes­sional approach; the development of student autonomy which means finding a unique way of problem solving. Discussion: Further investigations are necessary to substantiate and develop the methodology of the formation of future teachers’ foreign language communicative competence with the help of problem-based learning and on the basis of the inte­grative approach. Besides, the research should focus on using problem-based learning in foreign language training of students of different fields with the emphasis on their future profession.

The subject of the article is foreign language professional training of future teachers. The research is devoted to substantiation of Subject-Based Speaking method, which contributes to the development of foreign-language professional communicative competence among university students. The article is aimed at analyzing the effectiveness of using this method in foreign-language professional training. Research methods include study of psychological, pedagogical and methodological literature, observation and interviewing of the experiment participants, analysis of the experimental results. The article gives a detailed description of the stages, requirements, properties, and forms of training used in the proposed method. The results of the study can find application in practice of foreign-language training not only for future teachers, but also for other specialists, since Subject-Based Speaking method is focused on developing the ability to use a foreign language for professional purposes. Conclusion. Subject-Based Speaking is an effective method used for developing foreign language professional communicative competence, which helps to motivate students to learn a language, their willingness to communicate in a foreign language increases, and students demonstrate a higher level of foreign language professional communicative competence

The relevance of teaching a foreign language to future teachers in the context of updating school education puts forward requirements for the choice of teaching strategies. The article deals with the meta-subject aspect of foreign language training of future teachers. To form the readiness of future teachers to use the potential of a foreign language, it is important to understand the basic principles of integrating the content of special disciplines and knowledge of a foreign language. The meta-subject potential of a foreign language allows you to create opportunities for the development of general and special professional competencies. The formation of the competencies necessary to work with the updated content of education is the main task of the courses of the component for the choice of the bachelor's degree program at pedagogical university. The selection of optimal learning strategies contributes to the implementation of this task. The author examines the features of the use of modern pedagogical technologies and methods in the training of teachers of a new format.

The article addresses the issue of development of Kazakh, Russian and English languages in Kazakhstan. For this purpose, the authors give a definition of the types of bilingualism and polylingualism. The paper focuses on the significance of modeling of the educational process, the use of effective methods and technologies, gradual formation of foreign language speech culture and communicative competence. The model of multilingual teachers’ training is presented as a combination of motivational-value, content and technological components. In accordance with this, experimental work was conducted in three Kazakh universities. The result of the experiment is a polylingual speech culture and communicative competence of the future teachers within the selected scope of educational material. Another achievement in the experiment is the professional readiness of undergraduates to develop an integrated educational process for the formation of foreign language communicative competence, an ability to apply the concepts of the learning in educational process and justify them in a discussion. In the course of the study, the authors came to a conclusion that future teachers should have an integrated competence: knowledge of a foreign language and linguodidactic skills to plan classes in a foreign language.

The article presents challenges and methods of teacher training activities aimed todevelop communicative competence and prepare teachers for work in mountain area schools in theUkrainian Carpathians. Research shows that specifics of social and cultural environment should betaken into account in the process of teaching native language and developing communicativecompetence of future teachers. Sociocultural approach defines language teaching strategies in thelight of national culture, traditions of ethnic regions and the Ukrainian Carpathians in particular.Teacher training programs should include studies on material, cultural and spiritual values ofhighlanders. Such topics can be incorporated in the main native language course. Study andanalysis of fiction pieces, especially those that reflect the socio-cultural peculiarities of linguisticcommunity of the Ukrainian Carpathians can be of great value in achieving the goal. Small classesin mountain schools also place a demand upon educators to constantly upgrade approaches, formsand methods of teaching.The article offers an integral teacher training system aimed at developing communicativecompetence and preparing teachers to work in the mountain areas schools. A special place in thissystem is given to folk pedagogy, which accumulates the national and regional spiritual values.The author presents the components of communicative and socio-cultural competence of futureteachers. The suggested algorithm for training primary school teachers insures reaching anappropriate level of socio-cultural, historical, linguistic and communicative competenciesnecessary for language teaching at primary schools in mountain regions of the UkrainianCarpathians.

The article is devoted to the study of the features of the use of newspaper text on the lessons of Ukrainian language as a foreign language. The linguodidactic functions of the newspaper text in the process of studing the Ukrainian language: 1) familiarity with the culture and traditions of the Ukrainian people, features of the political, historical, economic life of the country; 2) expanding the background knowledge of foreigners; 3) enrichment of foreigners vocabulary; 4) acquaintance with the stylistic means and techniques of the language game; 5) illustration of language trends; 6) acquaintance with the basic concepts of textolinguistics, the formation of textual analysis skills; 7) development of communication skills; 8) increase learning motivation. The main criteria for the selection of newspaper texts for the study of Ukrainian as a foreign language: the level of language training of students; educational value of the text; the value of the text for the development of communicative competence; specialization of the addressee; national-psychological and national-cultural peculiarities of students; matching language trends. The main techniques for working with newspaper texts while studying Ukrainian as a foreign language: illustration, imitation, analysis, correction, translation.

Critical Thinking has become an educational and social ideal. English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching has not been apart from the discussion on the importance of implementing Critical Thinking into the educational process. However, research on Critical Thinking has broadly been carried out in other fields of knowledge rather than in EFL. Therefore, this study aimed to comprehend the conceptions university English teachers had about Critical Thinking in order to get a wider understanding on the way it has been conceived in EFL in relation to its concept, traits, promotion and assessment. Content Analysis, as a qualitative process of analysis and source of information, interpretations and conclusions, was the method adopted. The software Atlas.ti was the tool implemented to analyze the information. The results revealed that there is some agreement on the conception of Critical Thinking as a set of cognitive skills for problem-solving and reflective learning. Nevertheless, EFL teachers brought about their deficiency in understanding on what Critical Thinking entails. Thus, they emphasized the need of training on topics such as teaching, learning, didactics, methodology, strategies and resources to foster Critical Thinking in EFL. Based on teachers’ participation in this study and the literature consulted, it was concluded that Critical Thinking in EFL is compound of communicative competence, creativity, argumentation, problem-solving, decision-making, autonomous learning, metacognition and emotions.

This article is devoted to the issues of foreign language training of future marine transport engineers and the topicality of their possession of foreign language professional communicative competence at the level needed to resolve professional problems in the process of employment. This work proves the necessity of improving the quality of foreign language training by means of additional educational programs and advanced courses on Marine, Business, Professional English, the purpose of which is to apply oral and written communicative skills in situations of business and professional communication in arranging and carrying out an international transportation, operation and management of water transport, as well as forwarding and agency services for ships. Following a competencybased approach, the goals, objectives and results of the development of programs of additional and professional foreign language education are clearly defined in accordance with the requirements of international, professional and educational standards and the results of training are given on examples of specific courses. The research results presented in the article can be used in development and implementation into the educational process the professional foreign language communication programs using e-learning and distance learning educational technologies. The authors emphasize the importance of social partnership with the employer in order to continuously monitor his requests and requirements for the graduate.

The development of communicative competence depends on sociocultural and sociolinguistic knowledge, skills that ensure the personality enters into another society. The article deals with the communicative approach as one of the main approaches in the foreign language training. The author determines the main goal and objectives of the communicative approach and considers its basic principles: speech orientation, situationality, novelty, personality-oriented communication and modeling.
