This research aims at finding out whether Prezi is effective to teach speaking and the students having high creativity have better speaking skill than those having low creativity. This research was carried out at IAIN Salatiga in the academic year of 2015/2016. The population was the second semester students of English Education Department. In this research, the researcher used experimental research method. The researcher took one class for experimental class (TBI D). This class was divided into two groups (the students having high and low creativity). The research instruments consist of students’ creativity test and a speaking test. The creativity test and speaking test were readable after they were tried out in class TBI D of English Education Department of IAIN Salatiga. The data were the result of speaking test and it was analyzed by multifactor analysis of variance 2 x 2 (ANOVA). The findings of the research show that: (1) Prezi is effective for teaching speaking; (2) The students who have high creativity have better speaking skill than those having low creativity. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that: Prezi is an effective teaching media to teach speaking and it is suggested to the English Teacher to apply Prezi in teaching speaking. Prezi is suitable for both students who have high and low creativity because it is designed in a variety of formats that helps students to process information and organize their ideas.Key words: Prezi, Teaching Speaking, Creative Students

The obejectives of this research are to know the improvement  of the students’ achievement in poetry mastery and their perception regarding to the semiotic method in teaching and learning poetry in  English Education Department, Languages and Art Faculty of State University of Medan. The research method used is the Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of the research are the fifth semester of 37 students of 2013/2014 academic year. The data are collected by test in order to know the students’ achievment in poetry mastery. The students’ perception toward the implementation of the semiotic method for teaching and learning poetry is collected by questionaire. The data are analyzed by descriptive analysis. The result of research shows that (1) the average score of the students’ achievement of poetry mastery is (71.75) or it increases (11,59) point from pre-test (60.16) and (2) in general, the students’ perception toward the semiotic method for teaching and learning poetry are good and positive.

The aim of this research is to figure out the correlation between chatting online and students’ speaking achievement. The method of this research was correlation method. The researchers used this research because they wanted to find out the degree of relationship students chatting online and their speaking skill achievement in English Education Department of IKIP Siliwangi in the academic year 2015. The data were gathered from the questionnaires and speaking tests, then were analyzed by Spearman Rank in SPSS V.23. The result showed that the score of Spearman Rank test is 0.299. It was defined that there is low correlation between two variables. In other words, there was no significance correlation between students chatting online and their speaking achievement.

All English departments provide the listening courses that must be studied by their students. In fact, the students often find difficulties in understanding the listening texts so that their listening comprehension becomes low. This condition also happens to the students of English department of UNHASY. One of the causes of it is the teaching strategy for listening which is not appropriate. Therefore, the researcher implemented frontloading strategy for teaching listening in this study. The purpose of this study was to know whether or not frontloading strategy influenced the students’ listening comprehension. The research method used was quasi experiment with the design of pretest posttest nonequivalent control group. The population and the sample of the research were the two classes of the second semester students of English education department of UNHASY in the academic year of 2018/2019. After the implementation of frontloading strategy in experimental class and direst listening in control class, the students’ post listening comprehensions were compared by using independent sample t-test whose result was that sig. (2-tailed) (0.004) was lower than 0.05. In short, it is concluded that frontloading strategy influences students’ listening comprehension.

The objective of the research is to find out whether or not video blog can improve the speaking ability of the students of English Education Department of FTK UINAM in academic year 2017/2018.  The researcher applied pre-experimental method, with one group pretest and posttest design which employed speaking test to find out the students’ speaking performance in terms of accuracy. The sample consisted of 20 students used purposive sampling technique taken from the population of the second semester students of Sulawesi Flight. The result of the data analysis indicated that there was significant difference of students’ speaking performance before and after being trained through video blog. It is proved by result of statistical analysis of the level significance 0.05 with degree of freedom (df) =  N-1 = 20-1 = 19 which indicated that t-test value of final score I speaking ability (13.309) was greater than t-table (2.093). Therefore, video blog can improve speaking performance of the students.

This research was about students’ pronunciation ability in speaking English atUniversity of Lancang Kuning academic year 2015/2016.Type of the research was crosssectional survey design with the aim as an evaluation program. The number of theparticipant of this research were 36 of third semester of English Education DepartmentFaculty of Education and Teachers Training Lancang Kuning University Pekanbaru whichwere selected by using simple random sampling.Instrument was used in this research wasoral test. In collecting the data, the researcher gave the students test on speakingpronunciation in front of the class. The data gained was analyzed by using descriptivestatistic.The researcher found the students’ pronunciation in speaking were medium ; someconsistent phonemic and foreign stress and intonation patterns but the speaker is intelligible.It was proved by their mean score 1,8. In conclusion to get better pronunciation in speakingskill, the lecturer was suggested to find good strategy in teaching speaking English.

Many students usually find it hard to speak in English, because they have not practiced enough. This reason makes them cannot speak English well. Speaking is the skill which student should master it in order to communicate with other people. The situation in the learning process is one of the important things that the teacher should consider. This research aims to know; (1) the students’ achievement of the third semester of English Education Department at the University of Technology Yogyakarta in speaking English using role-play technique on academic year 2018/2019, and (2) the influencing factors to the students’ speaking skill achievement using role-play technique. The method used was quantitative method with experimental design to 9 students as the research sample. The data were analysed using Microsoft Excel 2013. The findings indicated that the mean score increased from 70 to 78.88, the standard deviation also improved from 6.123 to 7.817. Furthermore, the data from questionnaire indicated that the students had positive responses toward the use of role-play technique. Therefore, the use of role-play technique can improve the students’ speaking ability at this experimental research.

<p>The article is aimed at investigating the correlation between extroversion personality and vocabulary mastery toward speaking skill of the fourth semester students of English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University in the academic year of 2012/2013; both partially and simultaneously. The method of this study is correlational research. The population of the study is all of the fourth semester students while the sample is 30 students taken by simple random sampling technique. The technique used to analyze the data are simple, multiple correlation, and regression by using microsoft excel. The results of the study show that there is a positive correlation between extroversion personality and vocabulary mastery toward speaking skill both partially and simultaneously. The positive correlation indicates that extroversion personality and vocabulary mastery tend to go up or to go down together with speaking skill.</p>

The objectives of the research are to examine: (1) whether Content-Based Instruction is more effective than Audio-Lingual Method to teach speaking to the third semester students of STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro in the academic year of 2012/2013; (2) whether the students having high creativity have better speaking skill than those having low creativity; and (3) whether there is an interaction between teaching methods and students’ creativity in teaching speaking. The method in this research was experimental study. It was conducted at the third semester students of STAIN Jurai Siwo Metro in the academic year of 2012/2013. The sample of the research was two classes; C consists of 40 students as an experimental class and E consists of 40 students as a control class. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. Each class was divided into two groups (the students having high and low creativity). The techniques of collecting data were creativity test and speaking test that were tried out to know their readability. The data were analyzed by using Multifactor Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test of 2 x 2 and Tukey test.The result of data analysis shows that: (1) Content-Based Instruction is more effective than Audio-Lingual Method to teach speaking (2) the students having high creativity have better speaking skill than the students having low creativity and (3) there is an interaction between teaching methods and students’ creativity in teaching speaking. Based on the finding, it can be concluded that Content-Based Instruction is an effective method to teach speaking.

This study aims to (1) get the types of grammatical (auxiliary) errors in non-fiction text writing among the second semester students of the English Education Department of Khairun University in the academic year of 2013/2014, and (2) get the sources of grammatical (auxiliary) errors in writing at the second semester students of the English Education Department of Khairun University in the academic year 2013/2014.                The design of this research was qualitative research using the descriptive qualitative approach. The participants consisted of 12 students The main data were obtained from the 12 students’ compositions and the other data were collected from interviews.   The results of the research show that (1) the students make errors in omission, addition, and misformation of be (be, am, is, are, was, were, beeb), do (do, does), have (have, has, had)  and modals (can, must, will). (2) The source of error is intralingual errors and interlingual error. (3) The students also make error in using verbs after modal auxiliary. It means that the students still lack in mastering auxiliary verbs. Key word: Error Analysis, auxiliary verbs

This research aims to improve speaking ability on speaking for specific purposes class of class A1 students of English Education Department students, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, PGRI University of Yogyakarta in the academic year of 2012/2013. The effort which was done is using role-playing as a technique in teaching and learning activities. This collaborative and participative action research consisted of three cycles, with plan, action, observation, and reflection in each cycle. The participants were the students of class A1 of English Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, PGRI University of Yogyakarta. The data were collected by means of interviewing, recording technique, observing, and assessing. The qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing, while the quantitative data was analyzed descriptively by counting the mean score and the score percentage of the result of the observation. The results of research show that using role-playing technique can improve students’ speaking ability on speaking for specific purposes class. It can be indicated by the improvement of the activity of speaking classroom English, the interaction between teacher and students, and the students and teacher’s attention. The improvement of speaking ability on classroom English is also supported by the improvement of students’ achievement in speaking performance to a mean score of 161,18 or 70,579% (cycle I), 176,31 or 76,956% (cycle II), and 198,16 or 85,797% (cycle III).
