Asian white shrimp or can be called vannamei shrimp has the Latin name Litopenaeus vannamei has native habitat in coastal waters and American sea waters. This research was carried out in September 2018 in the Asian white shrimp farming business unit Tanjung Putih Village Sepulu District Bangkalan District and in Penatar Sewu Village Tanggulangin District Sidoarjo Regency. This study population used 3 pond plots in Asian white shrimp culture in Tanjung Putih Village, Sepulu District, Bangkalan District and in Penatar Sewu Village Tanggulangin District Sidoarjo Regency. Sample size is determined from the amount of shrimp fry capacity stocked. The sampling technique was carried out by researchers by following activities in the field, census and visiting respondents directly on the farm or in the farmer's group home to obtain the information and data needed. The results showed that the best feed management was obtained the best results on the 4 sample ponds in Sidoarjo with an average final weight growth rate of 9.73 grams at the first partial harvest, 83% Feed Efficiency, and a 90% survival rate. As for the lowest feed management results obtained in sample ponds 1 Bangkalan with a yield of 6.98% growth, feed efficiency by 71% and survival rate of 86%. As for the results of the analysis of vannamei shrimp aquaculture business at different locations in Bangkalan and Sidoarjo districts, it was concluded that the best Production BEP was obtained in Sidoarjo's 4 sample ponds, amounting to 1427 kg. The best R / C ratio and Payback period is the average sample obtained in Sidoarjo. The conclusion of the best feed management and business analysis results is on the sidoajo sample ponds, the sidoarjo sample shows decent and efficient results.

Vannamei shrimp is a fishery commodity that has important economic value for Indonesia. This is indicated by the increasing number and value of exports of this commodity. One of the efforts to encourage the production of vaname shrimp is through the use of probiotics. sanolife-MIC is a probiotic widely used in shrimp culture. The aim of the study was to analyze the feed profile and biological performance of Vaname PL 10 shrimp fed pellets with the Sanolife MIC-S probiotic capsule at different doses. The research method used is an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments (A: probiotic 0 gr/kg feed; B: probiotic 10 gr/kg feed; C: probiotic 12 gr/kg feed; D: probiotic 14 g/kg feed) and three replicates. What was tested in the study were probiotic profile tests, growth, feed efficiency and feed conversion. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA. The results showed that the feed profile that was encapsulated using sanolife MIC-S, the protein value, moisture content and ash content for the feed were shown by treatment B. The best fat content was treatment C. The best crude fiber content was treatment D. Weight growth rate, ratio The best feed conversion and feed efficiency was shown by treatment B, while the length growth and survival was indicated by treatment C.

Intensive aquaculture of vaname shrimp (L. vannamei), has been known to be a favorite for aquaculture commodities in Indonesia at the last 2 decades. The purpose of this study was to determine status of financial feasibility and business sensitivity rate in intensive shrimp culture activities. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method. The data analysis used to determine of financial feasibility and business sensitivity in the form of NPV analysis, Net B/C, R/C, IRR, and payback period. Also, an analysis of assumptions about rising feed prices and decreasing production revenues for the level of business sensitivity. The results showed that the shrimp culture business was categorized as feasible and profitable with NPV value of IDR 63,417,262,006, Net B/C 29.11, R/C 2.14, IRR 42.46%, and PP 1.4 years. Sensitivity analysis shows that the business is not so sensitive to the increase of feed prices and decreased revenue, but is very sensitive if both conditions change simultaneously, but are still in the financially feasible category. So, it can be concluded based on NPV, Net B/C, R/C, IRR, and payback period indicator analysis that intensive white shrimp farming is very feasible and profitable to use with a low level of business sensitivity due to feed price fluctuations changes and uncertain operational business revenues.

Vaname shrimp is one of the fishery products that are expected to produce foreign exchange for the country besides tiger shrimp.  One factor that can affect the growth and the production of vaname shrimp culture is dense stocking. The research was conducted in October-December 2016 at the Balai Benih Ikan Pantai (BBIP) Ghonebalano, aims to determine the effect of different stocking density on the growth and survival of vaname shrimp.  The research was using Completely Randomized Design with three treatment levels of density, i.e. treatment A = 10 individuals per container, treatment B = 15 individuals per container and treatment C = 20 individuals per container and three replications.  The results showed that the highest growth was obtained in treatment A which was 1,563 g/individuals, compared with treatment B (1.189 g/individuals) and C treatment (0.834 g/individuals).  Survival rate in treatment A is 80.00%, B treatment equal to 75,56% and treatment C equal to 70,00%.  Analysis of variance at 95% confidence level (α0.05) showed that the different density had a significant effect on growth, but had no significant effect on survival rate of the vaname shrimp larvae.

<p>Pacific white shrimp is one of the primadona of fishery commodities. The development of Pacific white shrimp can be done by using floating net cage (FNC). Shrimp culture in sea floating net cage is the one of alternative aquaculture of environmentally friendly shrimp cultivation and potentially become applicative technology of shrimp farming in the future. The aims of this study were to know the feasibility of white shrimp culture in sea floating net cage. The study was conducted by using descriptive and analytic method with 18 pieces of cage. Analysis of the feasibility using net present Value (NPV),Internal Rate of return (IRR), Net Benefit-Cost Ratio, Gross Benefit-Cost Ratio, Payback Period (PBP), and Break Even Point (BEP). The study result show that the NPV is IDR 43,315,360.00; IRR is 21.47%; net B/C ratio is 5.11, gross B/C ratio is 3.71; PBP is 6 months and 9 days and BEP is 1,837.82 kg of shrimp biomass or IDR 147,025,891.18 of the value of sales. The final result of feasibility analysis of shrimp culture in sea floating net cage is feasible to run.</p>

ABSTRAK   Kemajuan teknologi budidaya udang di Indonesia semakin pesat, seiring dengan berkembangnya budidaya Udang Putih Vaname (Litopenaus vannamei), sebagai komoditas ekonomis di tambak selain udang windu dan bandeng. Budidaya intensif Udang Vaname dicirikan dengan padat penebaran benih tinggi dan penggunaan pakan tambahan. Manajemen pakan yang kurang baik, berakibat pada timbulnya sisa pakan, secara perlahan-lahan akan meningkatkan kadar bahan pencemar dan menurunkan kualitas air tambak. Upaya yang dikembangkan untuk mengurangi masukan nutrien dari pakan selama budidaya udang vaname intensif adalah metode panen parsial, yaitu melakukan pemanenan udang secara bertahap (parsial) saat proses budidaya berlangsung. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi fluktuasi amoniak, menganalisa sumbangan beban cemaran amoniak ke lingkungan serta mengkaji kelayakan usaha budidaya udang vaname intensif dengan teknik panen parsial dan panen total. Panen parsial dilaksanakan umur 65 hari pada petak 2B, sedangkan panen total petak 2A dan 2B umur 80 hari pemeliharaan. Hasil yang diperoleh kandungan amoniak di akhir periode pemeliharaan petak 2A (panen total) dan petak 2B (panen parsial) adalah 0,120 mg/l dan 0,050 mg/l dengan nilai indeks kualitas air Prakash yang sama yaitu 51,11 kriteria kualitas air sedang. Sumbangan beban cemaran amoniak terhadap lingkungan petak 2A sebesar 7,667 kg/ha/th, petak 2B sebesar 3,164 kg/ha/th. Penilaian kelayakan ekonomi dari biomassa Udang Vaname yang dipanen secara total dan parsial. Hasil perhitungan teknik panen total nilai NPV Rp 88.448.362: IRR 27,09 ; B/C 2,11, teknik panen parsial NPV Rp 426.601.399 ; IRR 69,02: B/C 2,30. Kedua teknik panen mencerminkan usaha layak untuk dilanjutkan. Teknik panen parsial. mampu meminalkan sumbangan beban cemaran ke lingkungan serta memberikan keuntungan usaha lebih besar Rp 9.063.000/siklus/petak dibandingkan teknik panen total. Perlu adanya upaya pengolahan buangan air limbah di akhir pemeliharaan sebelum dibuang ke perairan umum agar memenuhi syarat baku mutu effluent.   Kata kunci: vaname, amonia, intensif, panen parsial, panen total     ABSTRACT Technological development of shrimp farming in Indonesia is growing rapidly, along with the development of white shrimp(Litopenaus vannamei) aquaculture, which is an economically viable commodity in pond culture besides tiger prawn and milkfish. Vanamei intensive shrimp aquaculture is characterized by a high stocking density of seeds and the use of additional feed. Poor feed management will result in the increase of food residue and gradually increases the levels of pollutants that degrade the water quality. Efforts to reduce nutrient inputs of feed for shrimp farming is partial harvesting method by harvesting shrimp in stages (partial) during the period of culture. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the fluctuation of ammonia, analyzing environmental contaminant load and study the feasibility of intensive shrimp farming of vanamei with partial harvesting techniques and the total harvest. Partial harvest was held at the age of 65 days for plots 2B, while the total harvest was done at plots 2A and 2B at 80 days. The results of ammonia concentration at the end of the culture period 2A plots (total harvest) and plots 2B (partial harvest) was 0.120 mg / l and 0.050 mg / l respectively, with similar Prakash water quality index of 51.11. Ammonia contamination load in plots 2A was 7,667 kg / ha/years, and plots 2B was  3,164 kg / ha/years. Results of the NPV value of total harvest was Rp 88,448,362: IRR 27.09; B / C of 2.11 whereas for partial harvesting techniques NPV Rp 426 601 399; IRR 69.02: B / C 2.30. Partial method  techniques of vanamei harvest can be minimalizing contaminant load in environmental and was more feasible because it provides greater profit of Rp. 9.063 million / cycle / plot. Efforts are required to discharge wastewater treatment at the end of the culture period before being released into the surrounding environment in order to meet the required effluent quality standarts.  Keywords: vanamei, ammonia, intensive, partial harvest, total harvest

Shrimp culture has been developed during the last three decades and the production of farmed shrimp reached its peak. However, the shrimp production was decreased all over the World including in Asian Countries because of the mass mortality due to the outbreak of several diseases predominantly White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) which caused extensive economic damage to the shrimp culture industry. Various Polyculture technologies of shrimp with shellfish, finfish or seaweeds have been implemented to reduce economic damages by mass mortality of shrimp. The present study was conducted with Tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon and Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei through Polyculture operation to determine optimum stocking ratios for induction of best performance and highest production rates. Initially, the experiments were conducted with different ratios and combinations of stocking densities 1:1, 2:1 and 1:2 ratios of Penaeus monodon and Litopenaeus vannamei with control group feed with commercial feed, the other group certain Probiotic bacteria such as Bacillus licheniformis and Lactobacillus rhamnosus added in feed, the third group both the Probiotic bacteria and the addition of external Carbon source from sugarcane molasses in the form of Bioflocs for 100 days. To ascertain further interaction of ratios influence, 20:10, 20:12, 20:15 ratios of stocking and Monoculture experiments were conducted. In both the experiments the Survival rate, Final body weights, Weight Gain, Feed conversion ratio, Specific growth rates, Average daily growth rates, Protein efficiency ratio, and Productivity rates were significantly different (P<0.05) in all the different treatments both for P. monodon and L. vannamei. From the results obtained 20:10 ratio of P. monodon and L. vannamei was considered as the best ratio of stocking, which yielded the highest production rates in all the Control, Probiotic added and both Probiotic & Biofloc added groups. The results obtained in the present study clearly demonstrate that the rearing of taxonomically similar species with optimum stocking ratios seems to improve the efficiency of shrimp farming and substantially increasing the production rates. So, this polyculture of P. monodon and L. vannamei can be considered as an alternative approach towards the establishment of sustainable shrimp farming activity which will yield good economic returns.

This research aimed to evaluate the production performance of white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei with super-intensive culture on different rearing densities. The research was conducted at PT. Dewi Laut Aquaculture, Cikelet, Garut, West Java. As many of 8 ponds were used and divided into 2 groups based on the stock density of shrimp, 550 ind/m2 and 650 ind/m2, and reared for 99 days. The results showed that super-intensive shrimp culture at the density of 550–650 ind/m2 potentially produced shrimp with average body weight ranged from 15.91–19.31 g, survival rate 62.67–87.95%, growth 0.16 to 0.20 g/day, FCR 1.35–1.66, and productivity reach 5.55–9.19 kg/m2. There were no significant differences between the two stocking densities in body weight, growth, and feed conversion performance, while ponds with higher rearing density had better survival and productivity than ponds with lower rearing density. L. vannamei cultured at a density of 650 ind/m2 produces the best performance and most feasible to be applied in super-intensive white shrimp cultivation. Keywords: Litopenaeus vannamei, super-intensive, high-density, production performance   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kinerja produksi udang vaname pada sistem super- intensif dengan padat penebaran berbeda. Penelitian dilaksanakan di tambak PT. Dewi Laut Aquaculture, Cikelet, Garut, Jawa Barat, menggunakan 8 petak tambak. Tambak dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok, masing-masing 4 petak tambak dengan padat tebar udang 550 ekor/m2 dan 4 petak tambak lainnya dengan padat tebar 650 ekor/m2 dengan masa pemeliharaan 99 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa budidaya udang vaname pada sistem super-intensif dengan padat tebar 550–650 ekor/m2 dapat menghasilkan udang dengan bobot rata-rata berkisar antara 15.91–19.31 g, sintasan 62.67–87.95%, pertumbuhan 0.16–0.20 g/hari, konversi pakan (FCR) 1.35–1.66, dan produktivitas mencapai 5.55–9.19 kg/m2. Tidak ada perbedaan nyata antara kedua padat penebaran pada kinerja bobot, pertumbuhan harian, dan FCR; sementara tambak dengan kepadatan tinggi memiliki nilai sintasan dan produktivitas yang lebih tinggi dari tambak dengan kepadatan rendah. Padat penebaran 650 ekor/m2 menghasilkan kinerja produksi terbaik dan paling layak untuk diaplikasikan dalam budidaya udang vaname super-intensif. Abstract In Thailand, marine shrimp was traditionally produced extensively for decades in coastal ponds. The insatiable global demand for shrimp products in recent years intensified and expanded shrimp culture in Thailand throughout the 1990s. Few regulations or guidelines were imposed on developing coastal land for shrimp farming. The boom resulted in rapid degradation of the coastal environment and widespread disease outbreaks, causing repeated crop failures in shrimp culture. In contrast, shrimp cultured in low-salinity ponds away from the coast experienced great success. As a result, thousands of hectares of rice paddies in the Thai heartland distant from the seacoast were converted to low-salinity shrimp farming. Large quantities of high-salinity brine (100-200 ppt) were transported from coastal salt pans to fill inland ponds to a salinity less than 5 ppt. Other than the salinity difference, low-salinity shrimp culture was generally similar to that in the coastal ponds. Shrimp were stocked at high density (50-100 PLs m-2) in a closed system. The shrimp production commonly exceeded 10 t ha-1 crop-1 in 3-4 months. During the peak period, shrimp production from inland areas accounted for nearly 40% of total annual production of shrimp at 200,000 t in Thailand. As the economic gain from shrimp production was more than 50-fold that of the rice crop, shrimp culture was regarded as a bonanza for debt-ridden rice farmers. However, inland shrimp farming was short-lived, as the Thai government banned the practice in 1993 on the grounds that it led to salination of soil and groundwater, and ultimately jeopardized the national rice bowl. Despite the ban, low-salinity shrimp farming still exists in areas where intrusion of natural seawater occurs. However, with persistent disease problems encountered in culturing native Penaeus monodon, the exotic white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) has become the major species.

Abstract. Biofloc technology in shrimp farming is a new technology that has advantages over other technologies. Biofloc technology can maintain water quality, especially ammonia and pH, suppress Vibrio growth, enhance immunity, and as natural food for shrimp. The application of this technology in shrimp farming still faces several obstacles, so not all farmers apply it. This study aims to evaluate the application of biofloc systems in white shrimp farming and formulate appropriate strategies to increase farmer productivity. The study was conducted using the survey and interview method for the perpetrators of white shrimp cultivation in Lampung Province. Collected data were strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the application of biofloc technology in the cultivation of white shrimp. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively, while the formulation of strategies was conducted using SWOT analysis. The results showed that shrimp culture technology with biofloc technology has good prospects for increasing shrimp production. However, biofloc technology also has weaknesses that can lead to the failure of shrimp farming. The application of white shrimp biofloc technology was in quadrant I (aggressive) where this system has a good internal strength to capture existing external opportunities (SO strategy). Internal strengths include a high survival rate, relatively faster growth, environmentally friendly, able to minimize disease agents that enter the culture system, and lower feed conversion, while the opportunities they have include: shrimp prices are relatively high, there is a revitalization program unproductive ponds by the government, the issue of eco-labeling, and the growing demand for shrimp exports.Keywords: SWOT analysis, water quality, strategy, shrimp production, aggressive  Abstrak. Teknologi biofloc dalam budidaya udang merupakan teknologi baru yang memiliki keunggulan dibandingkan teknologi lainnya.  Teknologi biofloc dapat menjaga kualitas air terutama amoniak dan pH, menekan pertumbuhan Vibrio, meningkatkan imunitas, serta sebagai pakan alami bagi udang.  Penerapan teknologi ini dalam budidaya udang masih mengalami beberapa kendala, sehingga tidak semua petambak menerapkannya.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penerapan sistem biofloc  dalam budidaya udang putih dan merumuskan strategi yang tepat untuk meningkatkan produktivitas petambak. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode surve dan wawancara terhadap pelaku budidaya udang  putih di Provinsi Lampung.  Data yang dikumpulkan berupa kekuatan (strength), kelemahan (weakness), peluang (opportunity) dan ancaman (threat) penerapan teknologi biofloc dalam budidaya udang putih.  Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif, sedangkan perumusan strategi menggunakan   analsis SWOT.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknologi budidaya udang dengan teknologi biofloc mempunyai prospek yang baik untuk meningkatkan produksi udang.  Namun demikian,  teknologi biofloc juga memiliki kelemahan yang dapat menimbulkan kegagalan budidaya udang. Penerapan teknologi  biofloc udang putih berada pada kuadran I (agresif) dimana sistem ini mempunyai kekuatan internal yang baik untuk menangkap peluang eksternal yang ada (strategi SO).  Kekuatan internal yang dimiliki antara lain: tingkat kelulushidupan tinggi, pertumbuhan relatif lebih cepat, ramah lingkungan, mampu meminimalisir agen penyakit yang masuk dalam sistem budidaya, dan konversi pakan lebih rendah, sementara peluang yang dimiliki antara lain: harga udang relatif tinggi, adanya program revitalisasi tambak yang tidak produktif oleh pemerintah, adanya isu eco labeling, serta permintaan ekspor udang yang terus meningkat.Kata kunci: Analisis SWOT, kualitas air, strategi, produksi udang, agresif

HighlightsLitopenaeus vannamei has been established as alternative to Penaeus monodon to shrimp farming in several countries.Increased importance of in situ microorganisms both in regulating biogeochemical cycles within the culture environment and in directly affecting shrimp growth and survival.To improve water quality in aquaculture is the application of probiotics and/or enzymes to ponds. AbstractIntensive shrimp farming has raised environmental issues due to aquaculture pollution, which is caused by uneaten feed, feces, organic matter, and toxic compounds (ammonia and H2S). One way to solve this issue is by using probiotics. Thus, this study aimed at investigating the effect of probiotic administration (Pseudomonas sp. and Bacillus sp.) at varying concentrations on total organic matter in the rearing water, feed conversion ratio, feed efficiency, and growth rate of white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). This study used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of four treatments: T0 (without the probiotic supplementations), T1 (probiotics at 106 CFU/ml), T2 (probiotics at 107 CFU/mL), T3 (probiotics at 108 CFU/mL) with three replicates each. The results showed that the administration of probiotics at different concentrations had a significant effect on the total amount of organic matter, feed conversion ratio, feed efficiency, and specific growth rate of white shrimp. Administration of probiotics at a concentration of 107 CFU/ ml had the lowest organic matter in the rearing water, 138 mg /Lt. While probiotic administration at 108 CFU/ ml gave the lowest feed conversion ratio (1.22), the highest feed efficiency (81.57%) and the best growth rate (2.25%/day). This research suggests that the administration of 107-108 CFU/ ml probiotics could be applied to reduce organic content in the rearing water and improve the growth performances of white shrimp.
