This work is devoted to the analysis of algorithmic support of multimedia content recommender systems and the development of a web service toincrease the efficiency of learning foreign languages using a recommender system that personalized the selection of educational content for the user.To form a list of necessary multimedia content, the main criteria of the recommender system were selected, the basic needs of users were identified, which the system should solve, since increasing the efficiency of learning a foreign language is achieved not only by choosing teaching methods, butalso by watching multimedia content, namely news, films, educational videos, clips, etc. Therefore, in order to form a list of the necessary multimediacontent, the main criteria of the recommender system were formed, the main needs of users were identified, which the system must solve. From theside of the method for implementing algorithmic support, various types of data filtering were considered, from modern technical methods to librariesto ensure the functionality of the system, and the algorithm based on hybrid filtering was chosen, in which known user ratings are used to predict thepreferences of another user. Functional requirements have been developed and a web service has been proposed that allows a comprehensive impact onuser learning when learning a foreign language, software implementation of which is made using Java Script, Python and additional libraries. Thisimplementation allows you to build a process for tracking changes in user requirements and transfer information to the database (DB) and, afteranalyzing the input data, change the proposed multimedia content to the user. In the course of further research, it is planned to conduct practicalexperiments, taking into account the specifics of certain methods of teaching foreign languages and the use of statistical data to assess the effectivenessof the algorithm of the proposed recommender system.

Today the amount of information in the internet growth very rapidly and people need some instruments to find and access appropriate information. One of such tools is called recommendation system. Recommendation systems help to navigate quickly and receive necessary information. Many of us find it difficult to decide which movie to watch and so we decided to make a recommender system for us to better judge which movie we are more likely to love. In this project we are going to use Machine Learning Algorithms to recommend movies to users based on genres and user ratings. Recommendation system attempt to predict the preference or rating that a user would give to an item.

What pragmatics are we currently teaching (2017) in Romania in applied foreign languages study programmes? In Romania, French as a foreign language at the undergraduate level is taught in two study programmes: Languages and Literatures and Applied Foreign Languages (LEA). Initiated more than twenty years ago, the LEA programmes have been a real success with Romanian students and, alongside traditional courses in literature, are currently implemented in several universities. Having analysed some key reference documents of Romanian universities (mainly syllabi and course descriptions), I propose how to achieve better results in a course on pragmatics offered at the University of Piteşti. My proposals focus specifically on the selection of contents, methods and teaching aids aimed at equipping our students with professional skills appropriate to the current job market. Key words: course description; language and literature; LEA; syllabus; pragmatics.

The present article is dedicated to the necessity and importance of continuing teaching students to work with great amount of information in the form of texts, as well as to acquire methods and strategies of this work. Gradual but unfaltering rejection of the use of texts in teaching a foreign lan- guage can lead to lowering the level of its mastering. To understand the deep reasons for the existing situation in this sphere, it is necessary to look at the experts’ opinions of the new generation of young people. In spite of the quick changes in the world, education preserves its strict standards that establish the landmarks upon which the pedagogical and educa- tional processes are built. In the course of several last years the teachers of the department of foreign languages have participated in the preparation of English-language materials for the Olympiads, organized by the RSUH. The author analyzes strategies and tactics of work with big texts, selection of topics, used in these Olympiads, as well as the tasks, developed for operating such texts. These types of work with big amount of information lead us to the neces- sity of forming and developing in students such aspect of the communicative competence, as its text-forming component. Here we can speak about all the skills, technologies, tactics and strategies, that are used to facilitate the stu- dent’ work in the analysis of existing texts, creation of new texts, stimulation of class and home self-study in the spheres of creative scientific and artisticwork, for example, writing an artistic essay or a scientific article. And the basis for such work will be constituted by the text.

<p>Conversational recommender system is system that provides dialogue as user guide to obtain information from the user, in order to obtain preference for products needed. This research implements conversational recommender system with knowledge-based in the smartphone domain with an explanation facility. The recommended products are obtained based on the functional requirements of the user. Therefore, this study use ontology model as a knowledge to be more flexible in finding products that is suitable with the functional requirements of the user that is by tracing a series of semantic based on relationships in order to obtain the user model. By exploiting the relationship between instances of user models, the explanation facility generated can be more natural. Our filtering method uses semantic reasoning with inference method to avoid overspecialization. The evaluation show that the performance of our recommender system with explanation facilities is more efficient than the recommendation system without explanation facility, that can be seen from the number of iterations. We also notice that our system has accuracy of 84%.</p>

Analysis and interpretation of genomics data are the backbones of breakthroughs and discoveries in biomedical research. Visualization tools and techniques play a significant role in the workflow of genomics researchers, and they are regularly employed in the interpretation of genomics data. However, the vast majority of genomics researchers have little or no formal training in data visualization design. Therefore, they require guidance on designing effective visualizations for a given set of data and analysis tasks. In this poster, we present the methodology behind a recommender system for genomics data and our preliminary design of a knowledge-based recommendation system. The system allows genomics researchers to navigate through a selection of visualization options and identify the techniques that meet their preferences and requirements.

Storytelling as a way of impressing people by means of stories has been used with various aims in numerous professional areas. The article investigates storytelling as an emerging but promising communicative method of teaching foreign languages both for general and for specific (professional) purposes. The origin and the background of the storytelling method as well as the current formats of exploiting stories in the practical language pedagogy are reviewed. The notion of “story” is defined in the context of storytelling from the standpoint of language teaching methodology. The criteria for the selection of stories relevant with regard to educational objectives are specified. The technology for language teaching utilizing short engaging stories presented in the course of oral interaction between the teacher and the learners is proposed, the key practical aspects of the technology being considered. The versatility of storytelling as a powerful tool in teaching all basic language skills is demonstrated. Its value for the development of the learners’ communicative and cultural competencies, their emotional intelligence and creative abilities is argued.

The subject of the article is the development of a proprietary catalogue of criteria helpful in making decisions about the selection of textbooks and teaching materials for learning foreign languages at the first stage of education. The catalogue was prepared based on an analysis of the methodological assumptions of early foreign language teaching and the criteria for evaluating textbooks at higher levels of education, which should also be taken into account when assessing teaching materials intended for teaching foreign languages to children. The analysis of methodological principles focuses primarily on the principles of language competence education and the appropriate selection of teaching content. It allows concluding to what extent the selected didactic material supports the proper development of a foreign language in children and whether it engages them emotionally.

Web services composition has emerged as a solution to answer the requester's requirements. However, the selection of an appropriate Web service has become a difficult task due to the number of Web services present on the Web and mostly they offer similar functionalities. User preferences are a key factor that can be used to rank candidate services and retain only the best ones. To improve the process of web service composition the authors propose a Case-Based Planning (CBP) approach based on preferences which uses successful experiences in past to solve similar problems at present or/and in the future. How to make a choice base on non-functional factors becomes a problem that need to be solved. This paper, argues that the selection should be considered in a global manner based on the user's preferences. The authors present a framework that deals with web service composition based on user preferences and CBP method. Results obtained offer more than a solution to the user and taking both functional and non-functional requirements.

We propose a Dual Hybrid Recommender System based on SCoR, the Synthetic Coordinate Recommendation system, and the Random Forest method. By combining user ratings and user/item features, SCoR is initially employed to provide a recommendation which is fed into the Random Forest. The two systems are initially combined by splitting the training set into two ?equivalent? parts, one of which is used to train SCoR while the other is used to train the Random Forest. This initial approach does not exhibit good performance due to reduced training. The resulted drawback is alleviated by the proposed dual training system which, using an innovative splitting method, exploits the entire training set for SCoR and the Random Forest, resulting to two recommender systems that are subsequently efficiently combined. Experimental results demonstrate the high performance of the proposed system on the Movielens datasets.
