The aim of our research was to compare the nature and severity of the inflammatory process in the lungs, in the leaves of the visceral and parietal pleura, and in the adjacent subpleural tissues of the chest wall in experimental animals after pleurodesis with solutions of 3% and 6% hydrogen peroxide, and talc. Methods and Results: The experiment was carried out on 200 Wistar rats, weighing 160-180 grams, 10 specimens in a subgroup, depending on the time of the experiment, i.e. 50 specimens in each study group, including the control group. The main criterion by which we determined the comparative characteristics of the effectiveness of talc and 3% and 6% solutions of hydrogen peroxide as preparations used for chemical pleurodesis in the rats was a morphological characteristic of inflammation. This criterion was confirmed by counting free cell populations in lung tissue (lymphocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, histiocytes). All comparison groups were characterized by a gradual increase in the number of lymphocytes, macrophages and histiocytes, ranging from minimum to maximum values, and by a gradual decrease in the number of neutrophils, starting with max and ending with minimum values. The number of lymphocytes, macrophages and histiocytes were increasing faster. But at the same time, for the most part, their number was lower after pleurodesis with 6% hydrogen peroxide. The minimum number of neutrophils and the fastest possible reduction in all cases was observed in pleurodesis with 6% hydrogen peroxide. Conclusion: Pleurodesis with a 6% solution of hydrogen peroxide as a chemical agent significantly affects the quality of the inflammatory response, reducing its duration and severity in the organs and tissues of the rats’ chests, compared with a solution of 3% hydrogen peroxide and talc.

Relevance Currently, the choice of effective and safe means for chemical pleurodesis is an urgent problem in the surgical treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax. Objective The purpose of our research was to compare the effectiveness of various methods of pleurodesis in the experiment based on the macro and microscopic study material.Materials and methods We used laboratory rats of the WISTAR line, weighing 180 grams, 200 individuals in the experiment. They were divided into three experimental groups and a control group of 50 rats each. Spontaneous pneumothorax was simulated on one side of the thorax of rats. One of the chemical agents was used in three experimental groups for carrying out the pleurodesis. The animals were observed and sacrificed in groups on days 3, 5, 7, 10, 30 of the experiment. Next, macro and microscopic changes in the lungs and adjacent tissues were described and compared. Regression models were constructed for the change in the number of free cell populations in the lung tissue during the process of analyzing data. Results and its discussion The use of a 6% solution of hydrogen peroxide causes the formation of persistent pleural adhesions with a shorter duration and severity of the inflammatory process in comparison to the analogues. Regression models of the dynamics of the free cellular composition of the pulmonary stroma were created with the aim of predicting the adhesion process. Conclusions The findings suggest that 6% solution of hydrogen peroxide have the maximum efficiency as a chemical agent for pleurodesis.

ABSTRACT: Ichthyophthiriasis is a worldwide fish disease with great financial impact on freshwater fish farming due to its associated high mortality rates. Current study assesses the parasiticidal capacity of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and chlorine dioxide (ClO2) against the causative agent, Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, in jundiá. Median lethal concentration (LC50, 96h) of each chemical agent was established, as well as the minimum inhibitory concentration of hydrogen peroxide for the parasite´s infectious larval phase (theront). Products were tested asynchronously in parasitized fingerlings for short and long baths at the following concentrations and exposure times: 1. Hydrogen peroxide: (T1) continuous bath - 30ppm and (T2) 50ppm; (T3) short bath - 150ppm, during 1h and (T4) 250ppm during 1h; control group (without any chemical agent). 2. Chlorine dioxide: (T1) continuous bath - 4ppm and (T2) 20ppm; (T3) short bath - 200ppm, during 1min; (T4) short bath - 400ppm, during 1min and control group. Data analysis demonstrated a concentration of 82.54ppm of the commercial product (or 24.76ppm of the active chemical agent) as LC50, 96h of H2O2 and 38.4ppm product (or 2.68ppm of the active chemical agent) for ClO2. Hydrogen peroxide concentration causing 100% mortality rate of theronts in 1h was 25ppm (product, or 7.5ppm of the active chemical agent). At the end of the fourth day of curative experiment, 98% of the animals died by ichthyophthiriasis. No treatment was effective against the parasite.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of adding different levels of rocket salad seeds powder to the diet on seminal plasma traits of roosters subjected to oxidative stress induced by hydrogen peroxide. A total of 60 Hy – line laying breeder roosters 57 weeks old were used in this study. Roosters were randomly distributed into 5 treatments with 3 replicates each. Each replicate constituted of 4 roosters (12 roosters for each treatment). Experimental treatments were as following: T1: Males fed control diet and normal water, T2: Males fed diet supplemented with 3 gm rocket salad powder / kg of diet + 0.25 ml hydrogen peroxide (0.5%) / litter of water, T3: Males fed diet supplemented with 3 gm rocket salad powder / kg of diet + 0.5 ml hydrogen peroxide (0.5%) / litter of water, T4: Males fed diet supplemented with 3 gm rocket salad powder / kg of diet + 1 ml hydrogen peroxide (0.5%) / litter of water, and T5: Males fed control diet and drink tap water supplemented with 1 ml hydrogen peroxide (0.5%) / litter of water. Males were treated with hydrogen peroxide (6%) and rocket salad for 12 weeks starting from 59 week of male ages. Results revealed that treated the roosters with hydrogen peroxide without adding rocket salad powder to the diet of these roosters (T5) resulted in highly significant (p< 0.01) decrease as regards concentrations of phospholipids, cholesterol, glutathione, the activity of superoxide desmutase and catalase, and total antioxidant activity in seminal plasma and highly significant (p< 0.01) increase concerning concentrations of tyrosine and malondialdehyde as compared with control group (T1) and rocket salad powder treatments (T2, T3, T4) after 12 weeks of experiment. However, supplementing diet of roosters with rocket salad powder (T2, T3, T4) resulted in highly significant (p< 0.01) increase with relation to concentrations of phospholipids, cholesterol, glutathione, the activity of superoxide desmutase and catalase, and total antioxidant activity in seminal plasma and highly significant (p< 0.01) decrease respecting concentrations of tyrosine and malondialdehyde as compared with (T5) In conclusion adding rocket salad powder to the diet of roosters had important role in limiting the negative effect of oxidative stress induced by hydrogen peroxide on seminal plasma quality of roosters. Therefore, dietary supplementation with rocket salad powder could be used as one of important tools for improving semen quality of roosters.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a commonly used chemical agent in orthopaedic practice for antisepsis, haemostasis and preparation of bone bed for cementation. However, the associated risks of H2O2 usage are not widely known. We report a case of suspected air embolism after use of H2O2 during drainage of a septic arthritis of the shoulder. Upon our literature review, we were able to demonstrate H2O2 to be beneficial in antisepsis and care of chronic wounds. However, it has not been proven to be superior to other antiseptics commonly used in orthopaedic surgery. Regarding its use in cementation, there is evidence to show it is more effective than saline however, the use of pulsatile lavage appears to be the most important factor affecting the quality of cementation. H2O2 has not been shown to be helpful with haemostasis. Prior to the use of H2O2, one should be cautious and understand its associated risks and precautions.

To find out the influence of the mineral supplement “Stimulus +” on the intensity of physiological processes and productivity of bulls. To achieve this goal, we set ourselves the following tasks: 1. To study the effect of the additive “Stimulus +” on the hematological parameters of experimental bulls. 2. Investigate the effect of the drug “Stimulus +” on the quantitative and qualitative indicators of meat (slaughter quality, morphological and chemical composition of carcasses) and its biological value. To study the effect of the mineral supplement “Stimulus +” on the productivity of animals. The obtained results make it possible to correct the diets of experimental animals, which will positively affect erythropoiesis, respiratory function, certain areas of protein, energy, and hydrocarbon metabolism in young cattle, which will increase their productivity and improve the quality of beef obtained from them. Changes in the biochemical parameters of the blood of animals fed the mineral supplement were revealed. It is established to increase the productivity of animals by feeding them a mineral supplement, which indicates a more rational use of physiological resources of the body of experimental animals. It was found that feeding the animals led to an increase in slaughter yield by 3.8 % compared to control. It was found that during long-term storage (14 days) in the meat of animals of the control group, several changes indicate the beginning of spoilage of meat, and the meat of animals fed with mineral supplements was of good quality, as well as veterinary assessment was the best and more resistant to spoilage during storage. In order to prevent microelementosis of fattening cattle for fattening, increase their productivity, improve the physicochemical and veterinary-sanitary indicators of meat, and the profitability of production, we recommend adjusting their diets, according to previous studies.

When interacting on a learning task, which is typical of several academic situations, individuals may experience two different motives: Understanding the problem, or showing their competences. When a conflict (confrontation of divergent propositions) emerges from this interaction, it can be solved either in an epistemic way (focused on the task) or in a relational way (focused on the social comparison of competences). The latter is believed to be detrimental for learning. Moreover, research on cooperative learning shows that when they share identical information, partners are led to compare to each other, and are less encouraged to cooperate than when they share complementary information. An epistemic vs. relational conflict vs. no conflict was provoked in dyads composed by a participant and a confederate, working either on identical or on complementary information (N = 122). Results showed that, if relational and epistemic conflicts both entailed more perceived interactions and divergence than the control group, only relational conflict entailed more perceived comparison activities and a less positive relationship than the control group. Epistemic conflict resulted in a more positive perceived relationship than the control group. As far as performance is concerned, relational conflict led to a worse learning than epistemic conflict, and - after a delay - than the control group. An interaction between the two variables on delayed performance showed that epistemic and relational conflicts were different only when working with complementary information. This study shows the importance of the quality of relationship when sharing information during cooperative learning, a crucial factor to be taken into account when planning educational settings at the university.

Introduction.Coccygodynia is a multidisciplinary disease which is diffi cult to treat. It seriously limits the ability to work and signifi cantly affects the quality of life of patients. The study of somatic dysfunctions in patients with coccygodynia and the analysis of the results of osteopathic treatment of such patients makes it possible to justify the necessity of osteopathic correction of coccygodynia.Goal of the study— to determine the structure of the leading somatic dysfunctions in patients with coccygodynia and to study the effectiveness of osteopathic treatment of this pathology.Materials and methods. The study involved 44 patients from 25 to 65 years old, randomly divided into two groups. The main group of 24 people (20 women and 4 men) received osteopathic treatment, in accordance with the identifi ed leading somatic dysfunctions. Patients of the control group (16 women and 4 men) were treated locally with soft manual techniques (the treatment area was limited by the pelvic region). In order to assess the results of the treatment, we examined the intensity of the pain syndrome and the psycho-emotional state of patients. The severity of the pain syndrome was assessed in accordance with the visual analogue scale (VAS). The psycho-emotional state (with physical and mental components) was assessed with the help of the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire.Results.Somatic dysfunctions typical for patients with coccygodynia have been identifi ed. Osteopathic treatment has proven to be more effective in comparison with local manual therapy of coccygodynia both in early periods and in 3 months after the end of the treatment course.Conclusion.Osteopathic treatment of post-traumatic coccygodynia is effective, and can be recommended for treatment of such patients.

In order to increase the pregnancy rate in the assisted reproductive technology, the selection of one embryo with the highest implantation potential it is very important. Time-lapse microscopy (TLM) is a tool for selecting quality embryos for transfer. This study aimed to assess the benefits of single-embryo transfer of autologous oocytes performed on day 5 of embryo incubation in a TLM-equipped system in IVF and ICSI programs. Single-embryo transfer following incubation in a TLM-equipped incubator was performed in 282 patients, who formed the main group; the control group consisted of 461 patients undergoing single-embryo transfer following a traditional culture and embryo selection procedure. We assessed the quality of transferred embryos, the rates of clinical pregnancy and delivery. The groups did not differ in the ratio of IVF and ICSI cycles, average age, and infertility factor. The proportion of excellent quality embryos for transfer was 77.0% in the main group and 65.1% in the control group (p = 0.001). In the subgroup with receiving eight and less oocytes we noted the tendency of receiving more quality embryos in the main group (р = 0.052). In the subgroup of nine and more oocytes the quality of the transferred embryos did not differ between two groups. The clinical pregnancy rate was 60.2% in the main group and 52.9% in the control group (p = 0.057). The delivery rate was 45.0% in the main group and 39.9% in the control group (p > 0.050).
