This paper is a one hypothesis research that investigates the perception of teachers on the effect of grammar on the expressive or productive skill of writing to provide a good platform for literacy teaching. One hundred undergraduates and post-graduates participants—50 each—were given a fifteen-item questionnaire to show their opinion on the relevance of grammar to the teaching of continuous writing. The hypothesis tested at 0.05 level of significance was rejected. Obtaining a mean score of 2.93 above the undergraduate students’ 1.92 in the t-test of the data collected, the findings show that the post-graduate students believe grammar is an essential part of good writing. The researcher consequently suggests ways of slicing up grammar teaching for better performance in writing.

Abstract. This study aimed to examine the effects of anchoring in task performance appraisal. It was hypothesized that there would be difference score inmeasuring task performance with high anchoring and low anchoring methods. High anchoring methodwas predicted to show higher scores rather than using low anchoring method. Participantswere 117 post-graduate students from Master of Management in Universitas Gadjah Mada. They were assigned in two groups. The first group (N=70) was instructed to rate an employee from lower to higher score (high anchoring method), while the second group (N=47) was instructed to rate the employee fromhigher to lower score (low anchoring method). Result of independent sample T-test showed that anchoring method had no significant effect on task performance appraisal. Factors which might be affecting this result are discussed Keywords: anchoring; appraisal; performance; post-graduate students; quasi-experimental study; task performance;

Background and aim. Making a diagnosis and prescribing medicine is the most important skill required by any doctor in the colleges, hospitals or clinical practice. Prescribing is the intervention that has the greatest influence on patients’ health requiring complex series of sub-competencies like making a diagnosis, setting a therapeutic goal, choosing the approach, choosing the best drug, route and frequency of administration, duration of therapy, writing the prescription, patient information, monitoring drug effects and, lastly, review the prescription.The aim of this research is to assess the knowledge and practices of Indian dental students regarding the prescription of antibiotics and analgesics.Methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 870 Undergraduate and Post-graduate dental students of Udaipur city. A close ended, pretested questionnaire was administered to students. The data were analyzed using the student’s t -test and one-way ANOVA with post hoc Bonferroni test.Results. A total of 870 students participated in the study. Most of them were females and were pursuing undergraduate studies. Post graduate students had greater medication prescription knowledge than the undergraduate students. Nevertheless, practice of medication prescription among these two was found adequate.Conclusion. Undergraduate dental students have lower knowledge about medication prescription as compared to post-graduate students. Also, knowledge of prescription of medicines in males were higher in comparison to females, though prescription practices of all the dental students was found almost similar.

This study aimed at identifying the main factors that motivate Code-mixing among the M.A. students and graduates who chose Applied Linguistics as their major at An-Najah National University. It also aimed at finding out the differences between the participants responses with respect to the selected variables including age, gender, workplace, student status and years of experience. The selected sample consisted of 32 M.A. regular students and another 22 students who already graduated from the same program. They are either employed for different institutions or have no work at least within the period of distributing the questionnaire. The researchers used an 18-item questionnaire as a tool of the study. The responses elicited from participants were manipulated through using the SPSS package to deduce frequencies, percentages, means, standard deviations, degrees and significant values. Findings of the study showed that the most frequent motivational factors that stand behind code-mixing were mainly related to speech emphasis, raised topics conformation, addressees understanding of the speech. As for the variables of the study, no statistically significant differences in the means of the participants responses attributed to gender or students status were found. Nevertheless, statistically significant differences attributed to age of the graduate students were found in favor of those above 45 years old.

METHODS:The study was delimited to the thirty players (fifteen student in each discipline) who had study in Sudarshan Degree College,Lalgaon were selected randomly as the subjects for the study.The age of the subjects were ranging from 17 – 21 years. The Study was further delimited to the assessment of Achievement Motivation by using Sports Achievement Motivation Test (SAMT) prepared by M.L.Kamlesh.It was hypothesized that there would be no significant a difference between the Under Graduate and Post Graduate students on the Achievement Motivation.For the purpose of analysis of data 't' test was employed to compare the Achievement Motivation between Under Graduate and Post Graduate students. RESULT:There was an insignificant difference between the means of Under Graduate and Post Graduate students on the scores of Achievement Motivation since the obtained value of 't' (1.05) was lower than the tabulated value. CONCLUSION:The Achievement Motivation of PG was found to be higher than the UG students

The objective of this study is to measure whether there is or not significant effect of teaching reading by utilizing Hot Potatoes software toward students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text. The variables used were the teaching treatment of Hot Potatoes Software as the independent variable and the students’ reading comprehension of Descriptive Text as dependent variable. Then, the research designed was Quasi-experimental design and the presentation of data used was quantitative. The data were obtained from the eleventh grade, of which 28 students were taken as sample. The students are divided into two groups; experiment group consisted of 12 students and control group consists of 16 students. To get the data, the pre-test and post-test were applied and then analyzed using t-test formula. The researcher had concluded that there is Significant effect of Hot Potatoes Software toward the students’ reading comprehension achievement. The result showed that mean of students’ post-test was increased. It is proved by the t-test (8.54) which is higher than t-table (2.05) at level of significance 5%. It means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and it proved that Hot Potatoes Software had significant effect toward students’ reading comprehension of Descriptive Text

This study focused on finding out the effect of applying RAP (Read, Ask,Paraphrase) Strategy on students’ reading comprehension in reading analyticalexposition text. This study was conducted in experimental design. The populationof this research was the second year of students in SMA Swasta Katolik BudiMurni 2 Medan. There were seventy students of the second year senior highschool students as the sample of the research. This study was conducted with tworandomized groups namely Experimental Group and Control Group. Theexperimental group was taught by applying RAP Strategy, while the control groupwas taught by applying conventional strategy. The instrument of collecting thedata was multiple choice tests which consisted of 25 items. The data wereanalyzed by using t-test formula. The calculation shown that t-observed (5.36)was higher than t-table (1.994) at the level of significance (α) 0.05 with the degreeof freedom (df) 68. It means that there was a significant effect of applying RAPStrategy on students’ reading comprehension in reading analytical exposition text.
